Enjoying watch Maxwell fix the cars, great addition to the Drivetribe team.
agree
I am so glad Maxwell got this opportunity, he is a natural on camera.
Much appreciated! ❤
this deffo could have been a main channel vid
Much appreciated ❤ I will have content on there too, there is just slightly different criteria for both channels. Keep your eye on both. I promise I won't disappoint!
Well done to the MGOC Spares for supporting this and congratulations to Maxwell for being a great presenter.
Maxwell is such a natural at being a presenter!
Felt obligated to like a few of the comments about Maxwell. I'm really enjoying him on the team. He's very real and relatable.
Maxwell is a great addition to the team. Such a great presenter.
maxwell is such a great host! super happy he's here to stay!
Natural presenter and obviously very knowledgeable as well. Top vid mate
That final realization toward the end of the video, I've never related to something so much in my life, from the quiet moment of contemplation while staring at and also directly through the engine, turning into a full on belly laugh, amazing hahahahaha
Definitely need more of Maxwell like this, great video.
I felt that relief when the car started idling at the end, Well done Maxwell!
Max has a lovely way about him, especially impressive when dealing with haunted Rover projects
Maxwell is such a natural presenter, such a great addition to the team. I quite like the trend of the more chilled Second-Channel workshop content that Automotive RUclips channels are doing and Maxwell is the perfect presenter for it.
What a star in the making!!! Very cool.
Maxwell was a fantastic addition to this channel it's brought New Life to it!!!
Maxwell is class! Personally I love his knowledge and delivery. Well done lad 👊🏼
Maxwell is the man! The British youtube scene is killing it!
10 second car?.....yeah runs for ten seconds, then breaks again 😂
0 - 60* in 10s
*In km/h
@@jlGenozzVI know mate, I've seen The fast and the furious, and "The Bold and the Beautiful" is more factually accurate when talking about cars
I didn't say what was gonna happen in those 10 seconds. But it's still 10 seconds! 😅❤
Glad you sorted it out,Max!
Automotive youtube seems to be having a renaissance driven by some awesome talent coming out of the UK. In a time when broadcast TV content has gotten stale, Auto Alex, DriveTribe, The Late Brake Show, TDC and others are really nailing it! Maxwell is a great addition to a channel that’s really hitting its stride.
Before changing the map/ecu I would be checking the live data and also for any codes before changing the ecu. You introduced a air leak by unplugging the vac line. Pscan and t4 will do it, which I have both.😉
Needed a new MAP sensor inside the ECU. All sorted now 😃
Maxwell is great in front of the camera, would definitely like to see more of him fixing vehicles in the future!
Great personality Maxwell, and your definitely an asset to the channel.
What a great addition to the team! Looking forward to more Maxwell magic :)
Had a similar hunting issue on a 2005 Micra. Cleaned the throttlebody as was covered in gunk. After that it needed a re-learning of the idle position. Lots of tutorials said it needed to be done at Nissan with one of their computers but after a quick peddle dance foubd online it was back to idling fine. Saved a lot of money from going to a dealership.
Maxwell knows his stuff.
Great video. I liked the troubleshooting!
Love watching maxwell fix cars
Loving watching Max! Great job
Looking forward to this build 👍🇦🇺
Maxwell is an awesome addition. Get him to present on main channel.
Maxwell you are now a prisoner to Mike's weird Rover/MG perversions.
really enjoying these vids, maxwells a great addition!
1:40 "to handle reasonably". I think he's saying, if you want decent tyres, don't buy Nankang 😂
Please more working on cars! Love this content
Gotta say, don't know who this guy is, but ... relaxed and does the job ? Check and check
Great addition to the team. Really like these type of videos
Check the cam timing too, just to be on the safe side.
You’re doing a great Job man.
That's some amazing troubleshooting !!
Lots more like this please!
I would pay money to see a Yamaha R1 engine swap project for this car headed by Maxwell
I love watching these videos, I just got my first car, a Rover 25 and i love seeing the passion for Rovers others have, mine is a bit buggered so i gotta fix it but it'll be a fun project i hope
I remember Chris from my MG/Rover owning days - great company then & it's good to see he's still going & happy to help out for a good cause 👍
Making me want to hang out with Max and wrench on a car or two!
This dude is great.
Feels right. I like the duo.
Nice job Maxwell :-)
Great addition to the team dude great content 🎉
Loving these more deep dive mechanical videos.
The engine ECUs are coded to the immobiliser. You can fit a second hand ECU but you will a diagnostic tool like pscan to match the ECU to the car. Also if you had a pscan you can properly diagnose faults instead of throwing parts at it....
ECU Swapped (cloned) and sorted the issue. 😀
Nice one Maxwell, enjoying your vids and looking forward to more
Wouldn’t surprise me if some of the capacitors have started to deteriorate in the ECU at that age causing issues.
This two-channel thing is kinda confusing tbh, It's hard to say what belongs in what.
Nevertheless, It's wonderful to see Maxwell filling in the gaps where Mike isn't there. It's almost seamless. Bravo! 🤩
Cant wait to see Maxwell at the Smallest Cog :-)
Maxwell is such a perfect fit, great job snatching him up!
Lovely to see this guy on the channel but it's a shame it's a game of parts darts instead of some proper diagnostic checks and an explanation of why they feel that was the issue
I had something very similar with my MGF and found my coolant temperature sensor was reading 20 degrees colder than actual temperature
WE LOVE MAXWELL!!!!!
What will be bigger? More DRIVETRIBE or Maxwell’s eye-brows?
Maxwell is safe, it even says so on his neck!
Great job finding the cause of the hunting, I had a car that would hunt intermittently and took it back to the main dealer time and time again and i parked outside with it doing it's party trick and the service manager came out and booked it in they had it for 3 days I drove it for 20 miles and it started again. Later I was told they had a few do it and they never cured it and most were chopped back in and sold on.
Dissing Linglong and praising Nankang is a bit of a move, but you gotta do what you gotta do for sponsors. FWIW, Linglong is a funny name for a very honest tire. On anything but performance cars (runabouts like Corollas or Rios), the Linglong tires will perform well. Mine lasted me 30k over 2 years and while they could do with replacing, they're nowhere near "dangerous" or "ditch finders" or whatever.
Ling long is the tire to drift on unless your in FD or D1
Result! I don't suppose we can call him Max Power can we!
I've been called worse 😅
So just leave the mapping thingymabob disconnected. Mike'll never notice the difference. 😄
MAP/MAF sensors: the bane of the existence of those trying to revive this generation of cars. I'm working on a 2009 Volvo S40 with a similar issue. Sadly, it's got the Mazda L engine so the MAF sensor is at the bottom of the intake manifold rather than on the outside of the air filter housing (where most sane people would put it).
Maxwell is great .... more vids please
Nice to see Mike rocking the San Diego Padres hat. Cheers from San Diego.
Black oil spark plugs is the oil going to them from the valve seals or the piston rings?
Did you set the throttle position sensor? The bleeding of the cooling system has a procedure that should be followed or you will have problems later.
Maxwell the next ed china ❤
If in doubt, blame Mike 😂
What about the squeaky belt when you start it?
When you replace the TPS you have to go through the reset procedure.
Firing the parts cannon before correct diagnosis.... Got to make the most of the free parts I suppose
To be fair, most of it was stuff that should be replaced on a service at a certain interval.
The throttle position sensor isn't, but they are a relatively common problem on the K series.
Right! ... and hilarious expression ... 'the parts cannon' pmsl! Black plugs, engine hunting, rich mixture! ... work from there. Wasn't a tough one to diagnose was it.
Welcome to Car Vertical Maxwell
I hope you did those rusted through lower front arms. They're an MOT failure...
What happened to the reg plate?
KISS....Did you smoke it? vacuum leak? The IAC will keep it running but it will keep trying to settle to its idle range.. just an idea ...
O2 sensor ?
What rear anti roll bar did you fit?
Upgraded supplied by MGOC Spares
What happened to the MGF plate
Idle control valve 😂
Filter Not horrendous looks at top loads hanging off the bottom tho 😂
Head gasket?
it has a cap, check the timing.
10 second car when we are finished (to start).
Charity restoration?
You can't fix a Rover, you can only break it more.
think this guy is obsessed with changing sensors
Pity about the power cut @ 15:17 🙃
So the Private Plates are no more ? Oh and to the oh so infinetely wiser WWW trollers ,,, allow you to guess what I may be thinking ;-)
Who’s the buying the R1 MGF number plate 😂🤣🤣🤣
Bug off we don’t need Mike anymore ☺️
Plump Mike...
Not convinced that's fixed. First off, when an engine is hunting like that it's usually related to intake issues, so no idea why they thought it was everything else first. But all unplugging the map sensor pipe has done is proven it's an issue with the intake side of things, since that's what the map sensor actually monitors. Now the sensor has been unplugged it can't monitor the vacuum through the intake any more, so the ECU has reverted to a safe mode where it doesn't alter the fuelling based on whatever the map sensor is reporting any more. That suggests the map sensor is actually fine, otherwise it would still be telling the ECU whatever it likes even with the pipe unplugged. So, unless the sensor itself is leaking, I'd expect there's actually an air leak in the intake system somewhere, so would be worth doing a smoke test on it to make sure. Those plastic intake plenums for example are prone to cracking and causing leaks. Not saying sensors can't fail, but the fact removing the vac reference sorted it would suggest the sensor IS actually working. 👍
It was the MAP sensor inside the ECU. Replaced ECU with a new one and problem solved. 😊
@@Maxwell_Millz fair enough, leaking sensor then after all. 👍
mike is a two hat 🙂
Also known as a parts cannon not a technician
