An age defying Ford Fiesta 1.1 Popular Plus with just 11,665 miles from new.
EQUIPMENT
Polycarbonate bumpers, halogen headlights, laminated windscreen, locking fuel filler, two spoke soft feel steering wheel, micro-switches, anti-burst locks, tailgate wash/wipe, heated rear window, remote passenger mirror, digital clock, Ford Keycode stereo cassette, courtesy light, load compartment light. Factory options; Automatic transmission, tilting/removable glass sunroof.
EXTERIOR
This humble Ford Fiesta being the Popular Plus model is not quite entry level specification but there is still an air of ‘everything you need but not a lot else!’ The original factory paintwork in Burgundy Red (Code E1) remains incredible with a deep glossy shine and uniform finish. Only minor touched in scratches, mainly to the bonnet, can be seen upon close inspection and a chip to the screen are barely worthy of mention. All the trim, rubbers, lights and number plate etched glass are as new. Supplying dealer number plates and rear screen sticker remain fitted to further emphasise this cars true originality. A wonderfully preserved example, virtually unseen in this condition.
INTERIOR
Perfect in every respect and commensurate with only 11,665 miles covered. The interior of this incredible example epitomizes the term factory fresh and will virtually transport any occupant back to a 1990 Ford showroom! The Medley seat trim in Shadow colour scheme (code LZ) retains all fullness with no wear or damage to the fabric. The instrument binnacle, door cards and headlining are flawless, and the steering wheel still has the prominent natural veins only found on very low mileage examples. The boot area has no lose luggage damage with an unmarked grey carpet and factory stickers to the boot floor visible. All the instruments, micro-switches and driver controls function correctly including the Ford Keycode stereo. The term ‘time warp’ is often used loosely, but this lovely Fiesta entirely deserves the accolade.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1118cc HCS four cylinder engine featuring twin venture carburettor and original manual choke set up produces a sedate 54bhp at 5200rpm. A top speed of 88mph and 0-60 is achieved in 14.9 seconds. The spotless engine bay has original plates, stickers and factory panel stampings clearly visible. A Ford Motorcraft oil filter and the red Ford HT Leads remain fitted, and all fluids are clean and clear. Operating just as it should, the optional CTX automatic transmission provides continuous varying drive for a relaxed and effortless driving manner.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory steel wheels of size 4½ x 13 are in perfect order and the correct Ford wheel centre covers remain fitted. Matching branded 145/80 R13 tyres have masses of tread remaining and no cracking to the rubber. The servo-assisted diagonally split brakes with 9½” discs up front and 7”drums at the rear pull the car up quickly and safely.
HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 19th December 1990 by Ford Main Dealers GK Group of Chesham, this exceptional example was purchased by a Mrs Joan Reynolds who after five years ownership gave it to her daughter Mrs Diane Fualls who has owned it ever since! With a mileage covered of just 11,665 and mother and daughter ownership from new, this Fiesta represents something very special. The vehicle was used sparingly until being taken off the road and garaged in 2000, where it remained until recommissioning took place in 2014.
The history file consists of the original GK Group plastic wallet containing absolutely every handbook, guide and point of sale literature as well as the business cards for individuals in every department of the dealership! The service book is stamped with annual supplying dealer entries up to 8,515 miles. A collection of previous MOT certificates and invoices completes the history file along with an unused tax disc holder and two keys with dealer fobs. A wonderful entry point into classic car ownership and certain to stir up fondness and nostalgia.
MOT April 2017, HPI Clear.
It's very good and beautiful car. I love Ford Fiesta MK3.
We like fiesta's too!
@@KGFClassicCars My Fiesta's 29 years old. XR2I spoiler on car. This is not beautiful, ugly, but good.:) 1.1 benzine.
This version (the MK3) of the Fiesta was by far the best, being roomy practical and comfortable, although the 1.1L engine which powered it, felt a bit past it because it has powered the Fiesta and the newer MK3 Escort and facelifted MK4 Escort for years and was in need of replacement.
It was an ageing powerplant slightly outclassed using older overhead pushrod valves when many new engines were better smoother overhead camshaft (OHC) types being used.
The original Ford Kent OHV overhead pushrod valve engines were a little rougher, tappety and a little noisy in places
Also, although you didn't get very much standard equipment either in the Popular Plus models (they were the absolute bargain basement entry level Fiesta), they were good value.
We had this here in Argentina imported from Valencia, Spain in 2 versions, CL(basic), CLX(deluxe), also in diesel.
*1.3 Gasoline 60CV*
*1.8 Diesel 60CV*
(Came out in 1994 and ended in 1996)
I know what you mean about the OHV Kent engines being a bit noisy & tappety & slightly tougher etc it's a very distinctive sound that I've noticed with those models of Fiestas' & Escorts. They all sound exactly the same! The Kent engine had first been used in the new Ford Anglia of 1959.
I like these Mk 3 Fiestas very much.
We like them too!
Por Dios!!! A ese Fiesta sólo lo usaron para ir a misa una vez!!! Exelente video! Saludos desde Argentina.
Thank you for your comment!
Mi flía y yo tuvimos un Fiesta s,1.1 1982 en nuestra visita a Europa hace muchos años. Aún lo extrañamos! Buena venta!!!
Wow Nice to see another Mk3 Fiesta kept as clean and original as mine, I have a VERY rare 1300 2 door "LA" model, (same one as in the 1992 Ford brochure) (K reg) with 12,000 miles on the clock, These are great cars, very reliable, good fuel economy I love them, (photos of mine are on Flicker)
Sounds fantastic, let us know should you ever decide to sell it please!
Probably the rarest model of them all. My friend had a 5dr one back in the 90's/00's.
I love the mark 3, the rear cluster lights were really modern for that time . Had a 96 dark aubergine model
Thank you for sharing!
My parents had one of these in 'radiant red' when I was a kid. Can't remember the spec but I still remember the lack of radio. I can't believe as late as the 90's Fords were being made without even a radio. I remember my mum commenting that after her last Fiesta, this one had a passenger wing mirror! Woooop!
Thank you for sharing!
Sounds like it was the lowest spec Popular. The car here is the popular plus which did have a radio (and a few other things) as standard. A lot of small cars back in the early 90s didn’t come with a radio (or radio cassette) in base model form.
Beautiful car
Thanks, we really like it too!
Love all the Fords you come across, all in amazing and original condition. Keep up the good work!
+Dave Harrison Thanks Dave, we'll keep finding them!
Yes - turning the fan on is about as good as it gets in a Fiesta.
This car is undoubtedly clean & in pristine factory' condition, but the thing that would put me off buying it is the fact that it has automatic transmission!
Thank you for your comment!
the steering wheel from the ford fiesta mk4 looks way better
everything is great
Thank you for your comment!
Beautiful I have the same motor just not auto with genuine 35k from new
Thank you for sharing!
That car looks Brand New. !!!! who ever buys it please look after it
Don't fear James, it's gone to a good home!
In Russia, there are still such models, but unfortunately they are not adapted to our realities.Corrosion quickly kills the body. I have a rare 1996 edition. One of the most recent.
Thank you for sharing!
Now that's a rarity, a CVT 1.1 I've never seen a Fiesta Automatic before just in an episode of Old Top Gear when William Woolard was comparing the CVT on the MK 2 1.1 Fiesta and the Fiat Uno (probably the same unit as in this newer model the Ford/Fiat/Van Doome CTX, I believe the Rover Metro used it too). Lovely condition for it's age it's like it just left the showroom you never see them in this condition nowadays.
Thanks Sam, this one was incredible!
Mah god when the engine started that nostalgia really kicked in...
Thank you for sharing!
That is absolutely spotless
Thanks Darryl!
GK Ford! Still see plenty of Ford's with those stickers in the back window as it is local dealer to me. Well was, as it's now part of a "national chain" of car dealers, sadly.
Doeu até em mim essa batida de porta.
You left the car in neutral RedSox..
