As with everything you lads sell it must be one of the best available anywhere, but by god this truly is one Ford design they got so wrong and one i`d rather forget!..
@@Dan23_7 i had to drive a montego van ,it was owned by my uncle and when taking my grandmother to the Doctor i used it beacuse of the size ,later i saw it released as a rover montego with some wooden finishings
The Ford Scorpio design had a touch of American about it at the time, and I say this as a compliment. Many people make derogatory comments about this car, but I seriously believe it’s a modern classic. This cars condition looks amazing, obviously well looked after and probably always garaged kept. The position of the radio antenna on the roof would make it not wise to take this car through a auto car wash, this means hand wash every time, so little chance of scratching the paint work. All in all a very good car for the money.
If I had the money I’d buy this in a heart beat, I love 1990s Ford’s and this has to be the ultimate one, perhaps even better if it was the cosworth engine but I’d be perfectly happy with the standard V6. I’m currently driving a 1998 Mondeo Ghia X 2.5 V6, it’s an awesome car too.
Andrew Marsden As an after sales manager at the time I went to the Ford dealer launch in Spain as I remember and the Ford Europe marketing director said and I quote 'If the car is good enough people won't worry about what it looks like' unfortunately what they didn't understand was that if people don't like the way it looks they will never find out how good it is because they won't even take a test drive. It's a shame really because it was a really nice car to drive, I had a 2.9 for a couple of months after launch as my demonstrator.
Can you believe that this was Ford's answer to challenge Mercedes Benz. It was slammed by motoring journalist's for being so ugly. Ford even tinted the edge of the headlight glass to try and make it less bug eyed but it didn't work.
Very nice car indeed.I always liked the Scorpio.Futuristic looking, and, above all different! Why do people always criticise 'different'?That's why everything looks the same these days.l drive an Audi A2,so different rules for me!Wouldn't mind one of the last of the original Fiat Pandas. Anyway, great looking car there. A ten from Len❤😎👍!
The Rover SD1 was, and arguably still is s beautiful design, because its proportions were bang on! Just a shame the BL build quality was patchy. But with this Scorpio, the opposite is true. Good build quality but an ugly design, with questionable proportions.
I actually like it but preferred the tinted headlights of the facelift model. Good value and if its even half as good as the Granada Scorpio mk3 I once owned it will be a belter.
I most admit when it first came out i didn t like it like it too mutch, But today s car styling Has become mutch more permissive and extravagant, And it seems to me that the scorpio design has gained some points.... It is very comfortable on long journeys Quite and those seats are some of the best. It is heavy and the cosworth drinks a little but hey, In the end i appreciate this car.(who gives a damn what i like tho)
Ha un design spaziale la scorpio. È bella senza essere aggressiva o cattiva come piace tanto a noi. La ford ha prodotto moltissime auto e anche furgoni con facce gentili.😉
I hope you'll find a nice 24v version soon. Doesn't matter if it's the MkIII Granada (known as Scorpio MkI in rest of Europe) or this "Mk2" Scorpio body, but a 24v Scorpio would be nice to see since it was Cosworth that tuned those engines :)
I wouldn't go so far as to say that the Ford Scorpio was an attractive car because it wasn't at all! In the words of Quentin Willson: 'Hardly handsome & are we ready for groan inspiring ugliness?!' However I do like the immaculate condition inside & out & obviously this car has been very well cared for by its last owner. Is there another Ford Scorpio out there in the same condition as this car I wonder?!
if i had money at the time i would have bought a white one, all revised by ford low milage and only 3.000€ but ihad just bought a bmw 740D ,so it was impossible to me to afford it,regards
I went to the Birmingham motor show when it was launched. Got a lot of publicity, but for all the wrong reasons. I believe it's a well engineered car, just the runt of the litter. A bit like the Edsel in America. It'll be worth a small fortune in a few years time.
Mechanically, these cars were superb. Outstanding engines, whisper quiet, comfortable, well-equipped, lovely to drive and decent handling. Unfortunately, it was all wrapped in one of the ugliest bodies ever to wear a blue oval.
Exactly this. I had 2 24v cosworths of these. Excellent cars, but even an odd car nerd like me couldn't justify having such a thing be seen parked on the drive!
All they had to do was update the granada mk3 from the front and back and they would of had a winner.........but we got this! Ps never saw it in this colour, what is it anyway?
I had an P reg 1996/7 in this same colour….’Cow Pat Green’ as a company car. I travelled all over the UK in it for thousands of miles, it was comfortable, quick and ultra reliable……it was a bit ugly on the outside, but I didn’t care as I was on the inside 😀
Is it just me who finds this car very attractive would make a very comfortable motorway cruiser so sad that I'm financially embarrassed at the moment 😩😡😭👤👍
A amazing example of an extremely rare car. However, this was (and still is) a horrendous looking car. I remember also that the build and reliability was pretty awful on these too.
Ugly as sin ........ but that's it's character in my opinion, and taste is subjective. Not to my taste lol My dad had the 2.9 cossie Scorpio. Now that was a nice car that went like stink

Cars today look even worse
Those seats look damn good and in damn good condition.
It's predecessor is definitely easier on the eye and it was the wrong car at the wrong time but it's grown on me. Time has been kind to it.
I really don't see how this is ugly especially considering the junk on the market today.

What were Ford's design team thinking! Great value for the right buyer.

The Germans? The Ford Scorpio is also basically a German car with an American name and built in Cologne Germany.
Can't see a better way of spending £4.5k on a car...
the car wasn´t that bad and the look was the fashion of the 90´s, all brands released rounded cars
