  • After a few months of Smite 2 being released in alpha, here are my thoughts about the evolution of the game so far
This is not SMITE 2 gameplay since I can't play it anymore (the game keeps crashing on launch for me)

It's an alpha. People can be frustrated & stuff with the bugs but I don't think people realize what alphas really are anymore. People expect SMITE 2 to be as "clean" & "polished" as SMITE 1 & SMITE 1 still has tons of bugs. Complain about them & let the devs know but be realistic.

no people understand what alphas are thats LITERALLY WHY they are upset. alphas are unfinished products that almost ALWAYS require no payment. its also not marketed as a finished game that you can leave the original youve been playing for 10 years or whatever for. also these are pro gamers also complaining they dont know ether? only you know what an alpha is? lol. no. hirez knew what they were doing its also why they havent responded to these claims.

Yeah, I just fundamentally disagree with just about everything this woman said. A game's primary focus should be on balance in performance. For her to say she doesn't care about balance. Or changing that just seems like she should have stayed on smite one or quit

    • @mikejong1696
      @mikejong1696 6 дней назад

A game's primary focus should be on fun. Item balance can be changed whenever, what matters now if the gameplay is fun, and that new players (that have no idea about balance) will stick around. You can have perfect balance, but if people dont have fun or cant get into the game then the playerbase won't grow. And this game will be as dead as smite 1

6:00 i agree with you so much. ive been playing this game since pre alpha 12 years ago, ive been watching pros since. The complaints a lot of pros have are so different from what the game needs for a casual player base. Alot of their complaints matter to 5% of the community IF THAT, when the people who fund and create smites value are literally the casual players who feel nothing towards updates past skins. And i play smite pretty competitively, but the average player doesn't. The average player wants a pretty game with content they haven't experienced yet. and smite 2 is far from that

Smite is trying to survive as a moba. Increasing total community playtime helps achieve that. Things that don't dramatically improve total community playtime are new builds that yield fancy playstyles, great graphics, and performance enhancements. Those eventually fail when matchmaking fails to keep players in flow or when people leave due to community hostility. Smite 2's vision seems unclear to me, because smite's survival depends on solving the painfully hard matchmaking and community behavior problems much more than most distracted effort outcomes smite2 currently plans to offer.
I imagine Smite 1, but with nonviolent, inclusive, multi-generational, constructive language normalized in the community and matchmaking that bars disappointment regardless of win status because the match was that engaging, so that players stay in flow whenever they play. I could imagine smite surviving as a moba if that happened. Smite 1 and Smite 2 as is? Right now, i'm afraid i really can't.

  • @Boom3120

I think you're right, criticism need to be listened especially if it constructive. Personaly I feel like right now, the game feel good to play, very similar to Smite 1, it look fine for an alpha and I don't get frustrated by any bugs. But few weeks ago it was less smooth, the settings issue was annoying too. Currently, it's fine, I'm optimistic for its future, think it's gonna take time but it's going the right way in my opinion.
I don't mind the legacy gems, I think it would have been fine if they weren't there, it's just a bonus for me. I think people need to realise Smite is a live service game and all items bought on it were bound to disappear, especially with no Smite 2 plan. Atleast now we get extra time on Smite 1 and we won't be leaving it without anything.
I just can't wait for Assault personaly :D Most of my main gods are already there, just missing Sobek, Thor, Hercules... but I feel like they might be coming soon like in two months
I was caught very off guard with the Smite 2 announcement, didn't expect it or hear about it before it was public, really glad they gave a second life to a game I have played too much and I hope it's going to be a success, atleast as much as Smite 1. I think we just need to be patient and keep sharing our opinions, hopefully it will be heard by the proper ears :p

Last patch they did a lot of performance improvements, but there still something on the arena map that makes it laggy, conquest it's ok tho. I would really like them to add DLSS and FSR as soon as possible. Graphically they improved the shadows, but some of the grass textures are kinda weird. I agree with you about the balance thing, the builds don't matter this much at the current state of the game. They also fixed a lot of gameplay and UI bugs, there is actually a trello where u can see all the issues they are working on rn. About the founder pack, you actually don't need to spend money in order to play the game, hirez is giving away a lot of keys. I don't get why would u not like the legacy gems system, we aren't losing anything, it's a bonus, a plus. I think we just need to be patient. I also think u shouldn't stop saying what u think about the game, if you really care about the game and want to help develop it, u should discuss with your community, find some people that you can have a good conversation with, explain and learn some things. Stay away from jerks like Weaken and others "content creators" that only talk shit to get views.

Please, just tell me, what does Smite 2 offer compared to 1 right now? The build system? (which is completely unbalanced?), the graphics? Which we can argue if I prefer Smite 1 or 2, I honestly don't like 2 a lot, seems like plastic, I dont know how to describe it. So at the end of the day, what I can see is they got so greedy, idk. Also, this Alpha began with 10k users (Steamdb), now it can barely reach 2k (again, you can see all of this in Steamdb). So, right now, Smite 1 is losing players day by day, and they are not going to Smite 2. So who do we blame here, community or Hi-Rez? Cause obviously, right now, people are losing interest day by day as I said, both in Smite 1 and 2, that's a fact everyone can check.

So I have been with HiRez and Smite since early Beta for Smite 1. I am super happy that they are creating Smite 2. I do believe that there are a bunch of updates and patches and bugs that need fixed and balanced. I think the issue that HiRez has is the fact that they show "favoritism" to certain content creators. They take THEIR opinion over everyone else or at least weigh it more. I truly hope that they take any and all feedback that ANYONE who has PURCHASED Smite 2 and applies those correctly. I DO think that certain content creators for the game need to slow their role and think about the community as a whole instead of "gatekeeping" and thinking about what THEY want added to the game. If you listen to the collective, you will come out on top with a top notch game. That being said, I cannot wait to see where the game goes and I cannot wait to be there for the ride. Great content as always and thank you for sharing your thoughts.

just because this is still open on my laptop and i like this game too much even though i'm always on a break from it because ✨reasons✨
Matchmaking would be a neat problem to solve. Match engagement would be uplifted through matching players with complementary mistake patterns. For a simple example, match the backliner that dives using their escape with the front line that holds w. Player behavior models trained client-side given real time game state information from the player's pov and tasked to predict the players next input (keypress, mouse movement, etc) would essentially model the player. An unsupervised technique could minimally partition the player models into classes of similar behavior. A requirement to rate match quality on 1-5 after each match would allow a supervised algorithm to learn the ideal team composition in terms of behavior classes. Modern deep modelling techniques would solve the violated player model input assumptions, and the matchmaker would converge on 5/5 matches with some iterative development, and a nonlinear optimizer update would speed up this approach's likely initially long queue times after some data collection. That's how i'd attack the matchmaking problem with a team and appropriate funding.
I'm really glad you produce content girl. We need more smite girlpower, bc "fuck the manosphere" helps everyone. You go, girl. 🍀💜

Also even I dont agree with any of your takes here so if all the pros and other streamers say youre wrong at what point do you look at reality and see youre just fundamentally wrong? not only are you pushing this agenda on ppl who dont know what theyre talking ab who then complain about things that WILL eventually change or just completely false accusations such as how u explained legacy gems. Legacy gems are not a discount they are a real currency carried over from smite 1 any legacy gems you choose to spend will differ depending on what u buy if it is smite 1 content you can buy it with 100% of your legacy gems however if its something new and unique to smite 2 you can only use 50% of your legacy gems which is extremely generous if you ask me

The game is barely tolerable to current players that have to deal with the levels of toxicity.
