There is so much wisdom here- you just don't know. I have no grandmother, grandfather, or father stories to share and listening shows me just how much I missed- so I want to become one. I have a different perspective on your father taking the $50 though; I believe the church was showing you "your value", and honored your gift. Paul also said "The laborer is worthy of his wage" meaning church workers were worthy of pay. One of my childhood friends had his father save his pay until he graduated high school, where he was able to buy a car. Either way, "your gift has made way for you".
