Thanks for compiling and putting this up. Duval was/is special. Hope he can win a few on the Champions Tour. Miss seeing this cat. Was cool to see him back in the day.
I did the same and gave up as well. To get your body so far before you unload is difficult. He makes all of this look so easy. Love David. He was golf dynamite.
Started watching his Career in 1990 on the hOgan Tour in Wichita KS at Reflection Ridge country club, him and Tom Lehman were paired together , Tom came out on top that tournament .I have always liked watching David play !!! He was one of my favorites next to Payne Stewart !!!
I saw him play at Nissan Los Angeles Open in 2002 and the sound and the high trajectory on his irons were so different from the other players. And I think it is kind of funny that Tiger Woods who only played in the tournament a very few times, despite Riviera being very close to where he grew up , is the host for the tournament now.
He recent swing is looking great, so long and loose. Watched him and spoke to him at the Open the day after his 91. I said keep the chin up Mr 59. He hit it great on the range that day, apart from the odd very wild shot, and that's all it takes at that level.
I saw him warm up at the Boeing Classic last year.. I thought he was gonna shoot 64. He didn’t miss a shot, beautiful fades on everything. Then on the course he hit 3 pull hook double crosses off the tee, and shoots 77. I think there’s something mental that he’s lost from his heyday. He has the ability still, as proven by the pre-round range session.
@@AJF-mm8te That's the same thing I saw a few years back when I followed him both days at the PNC tournament (around the 6:43 mark in the video). He hit some truly incredible shots those couple of days out of some tricky lies but also had some head-scratchingly bad drives that you knew were OB as soon as he hit them.
As soon as he aged and lost his wrist strength, it became impossible to keep that club face from staying square. Look at his early swings, you can see in real time his hips are almost open 90 degrees and the ball still hasn’t been hit. Only a young strong un injured person can hit like that. However, it was, at the time, amazing
You can also notice that in recent years, he plays with a closed stance and sort of hits a pull cut. Kuchar does the same thing, and they have both worked with Chris O’Connell. I wonder what the reasoning is for having the closed stance.
I think the mechanics of this when you're great as long as you don't overswing I honestly think his back problems are because of the swings were he went out of a little too hard this way. You can't physically turn your spine like this and expected to be okay. A good example would be Annika not over swinging. Or maybe Steve Stricker both have great rotation but they never really go after it after it the way Duval did.
Nah theoretically it doesn’t matter how hard you swing for this swing because it’s actually extremely back friendly due to his hands and body being extremely in sync his back really got bad cause of activity outside of golf likely and he got wrist and neck injuries which caused him to compensate he also got vertigo so he got screwed
@@harrybaulzack6934 nah this swing is all about rotation of the lower spine. There is scientific fact that supports the idea that separation of the lower lumbar and the hips creates a dynamic that is not sustainable by the physical structure so if Duval was over swinging in this fashion it would 100% cause spinal injuries. Do you have facts to support your assessment?
@@harrybaulzack6934 his body and arms are not in sync and if you have watched his videos about his feels it is heavily reliant on throwing the club over the plane and turning as fast/hard as possible. Where did you hear that his swing is "back friendly"? And what are you basing your comments on?
I would have to disagree. Fred’s clubface is much more open at the top while Duval’s is very closed. Duval doesn’t do much with the hands on the Downswing, while Couples uses them to square the face
He made such an endearing speech when he won the Open he won the hearts of Scottish golf.
A great video.
He won the Open at Lytham, not in Scotland
@@SimpleFoosball Correct, but made comment in the speech about playing in the Scottish Open at Carnoustie.
@@tomgilchrist8698 Ah, my apologies. I must admit the first time I heard the speech after this comment🤦🏻♂️😂👍🏻

This video. Duval's swing was poetic. The music was diabolic.
I loved watching Dave during his run in golf. Very exciting player.
Just the sexiest golf swing there ever was, tried to emulate it on the range, it's so unique, the arch of his body, the swing round the neck, gorgeous

What great rotation
I freaking love this golf swing!!
He should have at least 4-5 majors. Absolute machine back in the day.
Yes he come up short in alot of them.
Would have been so awesome if he could have snagged at least one at Augusta National!!

The greatest swing in golf
The greatest swing for him.
The second song you used in this video is crazy
MY GOD, So damn bad I had to MUTE it !!!
Nice video , alot of clips of a great swing.
Ball striking machine

this was great to watch, i never did hear what happened to him after his great run.
He could’ve been the goat.
Awesome golfer. Smooth swing
He became #1 in Tigers Prime era !!
Awesome talent, what a golf resume
Yes. He’s unique in the history of golf, in terms of his rise and then fall. Number one in 1999, and by 2005 he was outside the top 800
Second song was a gamble lol
I forgot how sweet that swing was.
The GOAT for a 3-4 year stretch. What could have been had he not been hit by health issues.
Stay’s on his left side then turns left to get the club back down, great move 🏆
I have exact the same swing ,.but never shot better than 85 - crazy 😯
almost Fred Couples smooth!
Great music, dancing for the money!!!!!!!!
So good-what happened
The best end of story

IDK WHETHER TO CHEER 0R CRY!
All the players used to move of the ball a bit. They were better for it. Tiger did it. When his swing was amazing. Duval too
Agreed
The tempo
Fred Couples' and Duval's swing are pretty much the same in concept, unbelievable hip drive and clearance, that of course ruined both their backs.
I would have to disagree. Fred’s clubface is much more open at the top while Duval’s is very closed. Duval doesn’t do much with the hands on the Downswing, while Couples uses them to square the face
I think he was probably the only one who could of challenged Tiger. Injuries can ruin a career. Even Tigers.
It’s “could’ve” or “could have” - not “could of”.
In his prime - was there ever a better golf swing?
@Think_Before_you_Speak-bz4bw Yes, good shout..
David would have been so much better if he had just kept his head down.
I think if had taken off the sun glasses he might have won more
Mike Austin anyone
One of the best to never win a Masters!
