I’ll never forget being a kid and seeing that sports illustrated cover with David Duval holding that smoking club with the headline “David Duval is on fire.” That image is burned into my memory and it made me fascinated with David as a kid
A fit and healthy Duval would have most definitely gone on to greatness. Idk if you were alive back in his prime but he was next level. It's a shame he got injured but I do very much enjoy his commentary!
I was with you until your last comment about a fit and healthy Duval NOT going on to greatness. You're wrong there. Duval had the game to challenge Tiger and win many more majors. He did shoot a 59, something Tiger has never done. Tiger's best score as a pro is a 61. Of course Tiger was better, but Duval was close in his prime.
For a few years, Duval was very clearly the second-best golfer in the world, and he could easily be a 3 or 4 time major winner despite having such a tiny prime. His run was pretty incredible.
Back then I was a tiger fan but David was great .. I remember watching him at 14 , remember him crushing drives 340 yards with that effortless swing .. I couldn’t believe it .. he was the only one on the planet giving tiger a run in tigers prime .. not an easy thing to do
@@SOLDOZER you sure about that one ? That’s why the 2001 stats says he was 5th in driving distance on the entire tour, averaging just 1.5 yards less then tiger woods - and as we know , that was tigers ‘prime’ - I saw him do it with my own 2 eyes bud- please don’t doubt me I don’t bs. Look it up . He was ‘freakishly’ long .
I have a really bad back. I had to have surgery to fix it. But most of the men on my dad’s side have had bad backs. So I’m pretty confident there’s a genetic factor involved although I don’t know if it’s been proven yet. It will be, I nearly guarantee that. So I can really relate to Duvall. But man, he was an unbelievable golfer over a few year stretch.
In 1997-1999 They had A Big 3 In Ernie Els Tiger Woods And David Duval But after duval collaspe In 2002 Than It was Mickelson And Singh That became the big 3 Phil And Vijay were good in the 90s but didnt become great till 2000
@@kennywilson3270 Have you seen duval on the golf channel? have you heard his interviews on espn, fox and other sports platforms? Does he sound or look like somebody that had a stroke? Did he have a brain tumor? I have followed him just like Ian baker-finch. It's called the yips or you just lose you golf mojo. vertigo is a lame excuse.
Who in the UK is excited for golf being re-opened tomorrow?? I’m starting with a 2 hour range session

I miss watching David play. His swing was so beautiful and the sound, forget about it. I still seek out videos of his swing in his prime.
I cant help but like this guy. I wish he had a longer career
Injury’s and golf just come hand in hand don’t they haha such a shame
my friend dated his daughter
These videos are great, more please
Thanks for this very informative video.
Watched him at the Open 2019 on the range. Still a great ball striker but had a small number of very wayward shots, even on the range.
David was so much fun to watch. He was as good as the best when he was healthy. My wife and I miss you David!

yes I was a fan of duval but he threw away alot of majors that he should have won, a bit like Greg Norman.
My favorite player in the 90s.
Hey man, would you ever do one on Ollie Schniederjans?

Yeah that comment surprised me a bit.
Agree with you completely.
1000% - last comment was almost shocking
Agree 100%

Duval? 340 yard drives? LOL. David was one of the shorter hitters on the PGA Tour. He never sniffed anything close to 340.

@@bygeorge4340 Yeah...sure OK. Cool story, but needs more dragons.
His putting was outstanding
Simply put a back injury is the worst thing to recover
Legend
He is the GOAT for me... and the reason with Tiger was i have been hooked up with golf in 1998 :)

He is my legend.
I don't think people really know how Good he was!
He was the #1 golfer in the world for a short time. Everyone knew he was the best too
He was a great golfer! He's got such a strange upper body, it prolly helped him swing with such precision and timing
That center of mass is ideal 👌
Without the injuries, we would be talking about him and not Phil as Tiger's biggest rival

What happened to David Duval...... he met a guy named David Leadbetter......
I think it was after he was on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
It was good until the producer started giving opinions and judgements.
@@DavesRabbitHole take it easy
Do what happened to smylie kaufman
Incoming 😎
I’m gonna make a video on him too
Duval was the only golfer to challenge Tiger if he stayed healthy Michelson could never challenge Tiger
Pronounced Michelob “Mitchell Lob” 😂
vertigo? Really? I don't think so
You a family Dr or close to him 🤔
@@kennywilson3270 just common sense and logic.
@@america1st721 I'd like to hear your professional take then.

His body did not respond well to PEDs
Oh well, those are the risks you take
They helped get him to where he did but they also led to his downfall
Nothin wrong with teaching at 500/Hr.
That last sentence is the dumbest comment I've ever heard. Unless it was intentional to get suckers to comment.
Tiger wasn’t and never will be the goat
Duval is up there with the best. That swing is pure. 🏌️♂️🇦🇺🦘
