Rock band gone orchestra.... ELO will always be one of my top favorites. I am thankful I still have a CD player in my car... nothing like popping in the CD and rolling on down the highway! Happy Thursday... thank you for sharing! 💖
@@QAlba1074… and you can usually pick them up very inexpensively! We have a used Record, Tape & CD store very close to my home, and I’m in there at least once a week picking up $3 gently used CD’s that used to sell for $12 and up…and have built up quite an enormous collection of great hit albums…
Midnight Special, I have lost so much sleep in the week since your channel was recommended to me. I see that trend isn’t going to end anytime soon, for which I thank you. 😂
Kelly got a lot of them! God bless. Love jeff but glad Kelly sued him when they broke up, jeff didn't appreciate how much kelly did. Must have killed jeff having to pay him out tight sod!😂
So talented, all of them!🔥 It’s so weird to think I was only 13 when this aired! 😅 This is one of my favorites of theirs! Side note: I didn’t notice the bass player's platforms before! Haha. Thanks again, Midnight Special!✌️
When ELO hit the airwaves they were so different than any other modern rock band. And their concerts and clamshell stage were jaw-dropping. It was an amazing time to be alive and old enough to appreciate their brilliance.
Bev Bevan was the coolest drummer. He dressed really well. He had style and strength and I wanted to emulate him. My first professional drum set was a 5-piece Slingerland drum kit, just like Bev had played. And mine were in chrome.
Great 🎧, Jeff’s glasses remind me of mine back then, they’d turn darker outside. When I met my boyfriend in college he said it looked like I had my motorcycle glasses on, sexy (he had a bike). Whew,,,who knew?
Damn! Me likey very much! LIVE LIVE LIVE. Now if only the engineers were to of gotten it together mixing them live, that would have been icing on the cake. Nonetheless....love these guys! They sounded great. Midnight Special and the 70s, a match made in heaven!😊
Hello Everyone I'm going to Jeff Lynne s ELO Concert On 9/23/24 the over and out tour at TD garden Boston I'll I have to say God Bless Jeff Lynnes elo rock on my friend
Saw this band get booed off the stage at the old Olympia in Detroit, Michigan. Elf with Dio on lead vocals opened the show, ELO lasted 3 songs until people were throwing stuff at them. Then Deep Purple came out and blew the crowd out into space. It was the Stormbringer tour.
So are to believe especially with how progressive Detroit has always been in the music scene. That must have been well before they were known at all. I never made it to Olympia, but came out of Cobo Hall with my ears ringing after a concert many many times!
@@garymagid9443 The Redwings use to play at the Olympia. It was ground zero, when the 1967-1968 riots started after MLK was assassinated. ELO never should of been on that bill. There was 15 thousand in the Olympia that night. The crowd was there for Deep Purple. The crowd was introduced to band called Elf, who opened, some guy named Ronnie James Dio was their lead vocalist. The crowd fell in love with Elf. I saw the original Uriah Heep with David Byron on lead vocals at Cobo Hall, Earth, Wind and Fire opened. Saw Johnny Winter, Deep Purple (Burn tour) Kiss, UFO/Rush at Cobo Hall. Pistons use to play there. I saw many bands get there start at the Michigan Palace. The only thing left today of the Palace is the ceiling. Beautiful. It's a parking lot today I grew up in suburbs 40 miles away from Detroit.
i never appreciate when musicians uptempo a song to this degree, i suppose in effort to get it over with and fit into the TV broadcast schedule. or they just want to cut it short cuz they arent REALLY into it and just want the cheque
My soul has been fed for the day. Thank you, Midnight Special.
Indeed!
Yup!
I crave to be a teenager in the 70s
Jeff has been SO good for SO long--it's AMAZING
Respect for the neon team…they didn’t cut any corners with ELO, unlike me who is too lazy to type out the full name 😆
How often has it been said…. That musicians like ELO and other 70’s bands are phenomenal… and how true that statement is…❤
England
Tenian un gen chingon!
They had this “cool” and skill you just haven’t seen since
Another example of great live music. No studio just great music. Thanks ELO and Midnight Special.
Live performances are the best, thankfully we have these awesome videos from Midnight Special.
ELO, rock band with soul. Jeff Lynne, a humble genius and among the Diamond Club of musicians in General.
He's a Wilbury too! That's a pretty exclusive club.
I remember watching this. We didn't have DVR or VHS in those days, so I held my cassette recorder next to the TV to copy this.
I love Richard Tandys setup! That Mellotron!!
Good eye! Dig that phaser effect too!
@@EMoneyB yeah. Makes it sound less out of tune. ☺️
Genius
Some artists you can't recognize twenty years later, but Jeff Lynne still looked the same forty years on! Amazing 🙂
And he's still got an amazing amount of hair in his 70s (assuming it's real)
My favorite ELO song. I was 12 when this came out in 1976
It seems like only yesterday... ELOs breakthrough hit!
Rock band gone orchestra.... ELO will always be one of my top favorites.
I am thankful I still have a CD player in my car... nothing like popping in the CD and rolling on down the highway!
Happy Thursday... thank you for sharing! 💖
I miss having a cd player in the car...8 track to cassette to cd to apple player...😂😂😂😂
CDs are still relevant. Always will be. Don't have to be subjected to any ads.

ELO puts on a great show. Best concert I've ever been to was ELO in 1979. Thank you Jeff Lynne!
1979? That had to be the Louisiana Superdome Show, the one & only concert they put on in ‘79.
ELO shared the bill with Boston & Grand Funk Railroad…
Midnight Special, I have lost so much sleep in the week since your channel was recommended to me. I see that trend isn’t going to end anytime soon, for which I thank you. 😂
Welcome aboard!
Jeff Lynne has many talents, but he always particularly impresses me with his vocals. The way he hits those high notes.
⚡️🎸🔥⚡️
Kelly got a lot of them! God bless. Love jeff but glad Kelly sued him when they broke up, jeff didn't appreciate how much kelly did. Must have killed jeff having to pay him out tight sod!😂
Great song. Thank you The Midnight Special.

I saw this live on tv as a kid. I was so lucky. Great time to be young. So much new, cool stuff happening all the time.
❤❤❤Amazing, Marvelous ELO❤❤❤
Man were those the days for great tunes..!!!
When ELO hit the airwaves they were so different than any other modern rock band. And their concerts and clamshell stage were jaw-dropping.

Fantastic!
bev bevan was one SOLID drummer
This song reminds me that the seventies was the best decade for music 🎶 ELO the very best! ❤❤❤❤❤
Banger of a track
Another classic!! Aloha~~ from Hawaii~~ 🍍🤙🤙

Sweet! I have a 5pc Slingerland chrome over maple kit in my collection. Still sounds incredible.
This is sweet!!
70's were the best time to be alive in the free world 🌎
Jeff Lynne gets my vote for the most underrated musician of all time ❤
Midnight Special is always putting great music out there just saying 🎉🎉
The platform shoe era. I remember it well. 👏🏻🤣
In all honesty I wans't a big ELO fan in the 70's, but the last few years I've listened to them a lot They're phenomenal.
Love the live performances, no matter what happens, imperfections and all.💙💙💙
This is one I've watched over and over on the DVD set, just wonderful. Can we have "Bluebird Is Dead" next, please... pretty please. 🙏🙏
A great day to wake and bake. Thanks, Bert!
(:
A true classic by ELO!
Gran talento de este músico J. L.
❤❤❤❤❤
I was nearly 11 when this aired! I still love ELO RIP Richard Tandy
A time when music required musicians.
Those were the days of real talent.
Eric Idle killing it on keyboards!
I thought he looked like Andy Gibb! 😂
Thank you very much!!!... E L O !!!...
Great live version of a fantastic song!
Please ELO Promo A new World record in Midnight Special. Thank you.
Favorite hit!! Thanks for posting!
The rest of elo now!!!
The great Jeff Lynne. Love it!
16 in 1976 first job, first paycheck I bought ELO and steelydan royal scam albums.
Beautiful song
Just Awesome
Elite ELO!!!
One of my all time favorite bands!! Jeff Lynne is a genius ❤
❤️🍻🙏😎
Great performance of a great song by ELO 🔥
Incredible performance, love it
Just saw them in Cincinnati, Jeff Lynne’s ELO Over and Out tour , say it’s not so
Seeing them live in a few days. Can't wait!
1:15 We finally found it after all these years: Evil Man
Long live Jeff Lynne!
There's a hole in my head where the rain comes in ....
Simply Brilliant
Love it! Thank You
Awesome👍
Going September 14th Cleveland second and sadly the last time I see Jeff
They were on the Midnight Special the most 7 times.
This is the classic lineup that I loved for years: Kelly and Melvyn round off the septet! 👍✌🤘
Great 🎧, Jeff’s glasses remind me of mine back then, they’d turn darker outside. When I met my boyfriend in college he said it looked like I had my motorcycle glasses on, sexy (he had a bike). Whew,,,who knew?

Elo -just the best
Jeff Lynne. genius.
Midnight special is good show
I was in high school when this came out. Had it on 8 track. Most of my friends didn't get it. I did.
RED BACKGROUND LETTERS maxi user!!! Over 20, along with Mandfred Mann’s Earth Band, we await the ultimate champion!!!😢 Who will top these two?
The Ozark Mountain Daredevils were on it once but I don't know if the neon letters were implemented for that one. Whatever drives up NBC's 💡 bill.
The bonzo dog doo dah band doesn’t even cut it. 😂
Any band that's Something Something and the Somethings might make it.
Huey Lewis and the News doesn't quite make it but you get the idea.
Did Starland Vocal Band ever play Midnight Special? LOL!!

Pretty good, but I really miss the backing vocals from the studio version.
RIP Richard Tandy (1948-2024)
When you want a non lip sync'd performance you can count on Jeff.
Actually, ELO did lip-synch a couple tunes on the Midnight Special. I don't know why.
Wow. Grew up with them.
everything is huge! but the synth is so weak lol but is great, they are the best.
Jeff still sounds the same, and has barely aged
I'll take The Midnight Special over attention-deficit-disorder TikTok, any day.
1975 Germany. I use to play this song everyday to remind myself not to fall for an evil woman

As a kid, I thought he was singing “He is a woman”.
As a GenX'r... I love the sound....the sexism thows me off though. Great memories, ty.
Just reality like the evil men that women sing about
