    My laptop was constantly overheating due to the massive buildup of crud in the fan unit. Thank you immensely for posting this video so that I could clean everything out. Seems to be running good again!

    My daughter spilled a cup of hot chocolate on her laptop and the computer was dead, so I thought. I found this video on you tube. I had to completely dismantle the laptop with many stops along the way for chocolate cleanup on different components and connections. Excellent step by step video my friend. Thank you for posting this. Her Computer is back online and working well. We got lucky! your video saved her a lot of money. Thanks again!

    Great video. Completely clear and easy to follow with no rambling or other nonsense. Never would have figured this out on my own. Cooling fins were 99% blocked on the inlet side. Flows great and quite now, runs cool, no more 90C core temps. Thanks!

    I want to thank you for this video. I have this laptop and have never cleaned it before today. My fan stopped working so I fortunately downloaded this video some time ago and was able to follow along while I took it apart and cleaned it. I need a new fan but at least now my laptop is running again thanks to you.
    God bless and keep doing these videos.

    You would think they could have a replaceable/cleanable air filter that is accessible from the out side. But nooo one must dissemble the entire thing just to do simple maintenance of the air intake.
    Just want to thank you for posting. This was extremely helpful.

    To everyone doubting their own abilities to do this - just try. I had zero prior knowledge, borrowed my father's screwdrivers and it worked like a charm. I did not disassemble all cables, some required me to use a lot of force which I was scared to do. It still worked, I just could not move the mainboard as freely.

    THANKS! I couldn't get the bottom cover piece off by prying upwards (as I usually do), but as you show in the video - it slides sideways. I've fixed hundreds of laptops but never seen one come apart in that manner. Thanks for setting me straight! I also agree with "eNikita" - very poor design by HP making the fan only accessible by disassembling the entire laptop instead of just removing one cover flap. Manufacturers are purposefully making repairs as difficult as possible just to sell a few more computers - a very shitty way to treat customers that have purchased your product.

    One suggestion-- instead of pushing the keyboard through that screw hole (which could damage the F9 key!), there is a keyboard release port where a blunter object could be used. well done though, extremely helpful! :)

    • @krispeterson5378
      @krispeterson5378 6 лет назад

      mash107 located beneath the WLAN card btw

    • @sberryscake
      @sberryscake 6 лет назад

      there is a place on the left side of the opened back door where you are supposed to use your FINGER to push out the optical drive and keyboard. push left, that pushes out the optical drive. push down, it pushes the keyboard. it has the optical drive (dvd like symbol), and keyboard next to the hole with arrows. this works of course after you have removed all of the screws that correspond to that icon.

    thank you for this video. i had everything unscrewed but could not figure out the keyboard part, it looks like it is all one piece on top. i could tell from the bottom markings that that was the keyboard release and screws, but didnt want to push it and break it.
    was able to do it once i knew it WAS a separate piece and that it comes out. that was what i needed, the three screws under the keyboard to get the top bezel piece off. i only needed to replace my LAN/USB combo that attaches with the ribbon on the right.
    got it done, blew some compressed air, while i was in there, into the fan.
    THANK YOU!
    had to replace the Wifi card too, but that was a piece of cake.

      You can clean the fan with distilled water, or isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. I've cleaned a few really dirty and clogged fans under running sink water before - it worked great, but I put a very tiny dab of grease on the center pin to optimize performance and reduce noise.
