the new imager (late may 2023) makes this a lot more simple. now you can enable ssh and set the wifi informations with the imager itself. it's pure gold! :) Also you do not need any subsystem for win10 and 11. They come with everything you need. They both come with an openSSH client that will just work from the cmd/terminal. it will look and work exactly as described in this video. :)
This isn't and hasn't worked for me. I still can't SSH into the raspberry pi zero w despite having "enabled" SSH with the imager and even set up the wifi. I can arp-scan --localnet and find the IP address of the Raspberry Pi but it keeps saying "Connection Refused" when I try to SSH into it.
To those coming to this video after 5/23/2022. In the raspberry pi imager there is a gear in the bottom right corner. Where you now configure the SSH, and all other options. To get remote connected. VNC is the same though.
Anyways bro thank you finally I'm amble to connect with vnc I was struggling for 5 days thank you so much and ur life saver I got 2 days left for doing my final project
Not only are the files gone but he doesn't make the distinction that this is a modern Pi Zero, not the original which itself doesn't have a wireless chip and thus can't connect to wifi without a USB adapter.
I appreciate the content. Lots of similar articles for Raspberry Pi Zero ssh but your video specifically mentioned the power slot and not the middle connection slot. Made all the difference in the world.

Its working for me noww, and you dont need them anyways since theres a little gear icon in the bottom right corner of the imager which lets you do all those things
Great video! Got me up and running with it very quickly! However I'm having a few issues. I'm able to connect it to wifi and ssh in, but I only have the "Bookshelf" directory. Additionally, when I run the "api-get update" with sudo permission I originally received an error regarding "You do not have enough storage space" (I'm using a 64GB SD card). Now however, when I run "api-get update" and/or attempt to "mkdir test" I receive errors regarding "Read-only file system". Do you have any insight into how to troubleshoot this?
This video walkthrough is pretty detailed and it helped me setup pi quickly, thanks a lot @DataSlayerMedia and please continue creating such great content!

I have a question. I connect the rapberry pi to my computer and its working and i test the power on bluetooth and it not responding. I format the sd card and folow this tutorial again step by step and its not working. How I can do to working it? - B.T.W sorry for my english
the default password doesn't work for me. i keep typing in raspberry but it keeps saying it's wrong. edit: after a recent update, there is no default password! in the options inside of the installed program, you have to set it yourself.
Bravo, bel tutorial! My respect for 'vim', instead I would have preferred x2go server rather than VNC but I understand it's done to make easier life to Windows users!
You don't need to do any of this anymore, the imager now prompts you to set advanced options. You can provide the wifi SSD and password there, and set an ssh password or even just provide a public key to log in passwordless.
You don’t need to format the sd card before flashing it no matter how big it is. You might get a warning or alert when you insert, but just tell the computer to ignore it and you’re good to go.

What if you cannot use RPI imager because you neither use Windows nor Mac nor Ubuntu/Linux nor a graphical console? So all you have is a full GNU toolchain including vim and possibly Python3 and JavaScript (but with non-Intel byte order) and a TTY. For me rpi-imager is a PITA because it uses a graphical environment. Is there a text only mode for rpi-imager where you can edit all the parameters (I did not find any)? There are people out there who have big problems with graphical environments ..

The video is quite informative but I kinda face issue with the password the default password "raspberrypi" doesn't seems go work. Could anyone help me with that. Pleasee
Very good video and easy to follow but I got lost on VNC portion. When I open VNC viewer, it asks for user name and password. Which one I enter? The one I set for my raspberry pi in config window or something else. I see you use pi as user name.
I just got a Pi zero 2 w and I keep getting a missing driver in Windows 11, when I plug it in (BCM2710 Boot). I've tried everything and I can't find the driver for it. Is this normal for it to do this?
i successfully installed OS, but in screen i got only bluetooth and speaker symbols, background was also not like u shown. can you please give me the inputs

Yes. They're not allowed to use the pi/raspberry login anymore because of some legal restrictions.

It should still work.
Windows 10 has ssh standard. You don't need WSL for that. If you really want to use a program for SSh use Putty
