Two of the best Candlepin bowlers ever and they both put on a truly AMAZING match here!!!!! And some incredible shot making from both guys too, especially in the third game!! :D
My dad has been bowling since the mid 70s up here in Maine and is a good bowler in his own right. He still bowls at 67 and carries a high enough average for the Worlds which is held every 2 years. As a young man he could throw a baseball in the high 80s to low 90s. All of this to say. Candlepin is a highly skilled game. Its not just throwing the ball hard, my dad threw hard early in his bowling career and led the league in strikes often. The difference is knowing when to throw hard and knowing when not to...more important is knowing where to hit it. For anyone who doesn't know this was a masterclass in bowling and Tom Olszta is next level, the way he creates action and moves pins around takes reps and years of experience. The way he stays in the pocket but doesn't get on the headpin too much and does it consistently is insane.
Making up 36 pins in one string is amazing in itself, esp at this level of competition. Tommy is such a beast, every time he needs to come up big that is exactly what he does,,, He went beast mode in those last few frames. Olstza is the GOAT
Watching Alley Chat Classics and Candlepin Bowling every Saturday here is really great and my favorite kind of bowling,Thanks for showing them and take care. 🤠🎳🎳🎳🎳🎳🎳🎳🎳🧐
Heavyweight battle between the GOAT and one of the other 3 faces on candlepin's Mount Rushmore. That was also a pretty sizable crowd for a regular episode. I guess they knew they had to be there for a match like that.
one of my all time favorite matches of my grandfather. An absolute classic
don is a legend too, this is like saturday noon all over again, thnx.
My mom was born and raised in Nova Scotia like Don Gillis and she got a big thrill when she met him.
it was a great show if you like bowling like most of us. don was a great host and commentator.@@karlschneider9479

A great match between two legends. Very good video quality too!
Appreciated. Hours and hours of work went into restoring this particular episode.
What a great upload! Thanks Alleychat!

I wish they had candlepin here on the west coast. I've tried duckpin on trips back east, but never even heard of this when i was there.
A MasterClass on Candlepin Bowling.
These 2 are my all time favorite bowlers.
Dudes are on a whole 'nother level...
