I'm pissed off when there's no 'monster's den' like this one. the team excel at sorting good from bad - but with the added public service of recommending films so bad, they are reeeal entertaining. Chris Alo is pissed off, you witness a new kind of poetry woven into film criticism. Chris loves to vent, and we love his venting. Where did Pete find these blokes? Magic. Loved this! 👍👍✔✔
Evil Dead the original film is a Hell of a lot scarier than Dead By Dawn for sure, but alongside the former I don’t agree with that statement about it being the same movie. Army Of Darkness was totally different and more like a Monty Python type of genre a.k.a: medieval horror fantasy. A Nightmare On Elm Street remake however? I agree ☝️ 1980’s Don’t Go In The House scared the shite outta Me til the point where I had to sleep with my mom at age 13! Maniac kinda ripped this flick off a few years later when Joe Spinell’s character is surrounded by the dead women who he’s tortured and dressed in his mother’s clothes and the only thing that isn’t added; is that they’ve not been burned alive. Definitely worth seeking out though Pete and nothing like the usual low budget horror flicks of this period. Great addition with Jamie being added to your cast of characters btw! When I saw The Witch in the theatre, 2 women left in a huff during the scene with the infant and the Witch. And they made a BIG show about leaving. That incident brought me great pleasure.

Enjoy folks! Let us know what chapped your ass at the pictures! On my channel this week, if you wanna come on over - new Tull review, new Marillion Season's End boxset, some Chow Yun Fat 80s classic stuff , an interview with Big Star legend Jody Stephens - and tomorrow a review of the latest Whitesnake re-release boxset. Over the weekend, a review of two oddball horror-blaxploitation films on bluray...
With respect, you obviously have alot of knowledge, but please stop stealing others punchline, it's kinda rude. Let them tell their story. You can talk when they are done. Keep up the good work Davy! Hope you don't take it the wrong way.
Love you guys, coming all the way from California. I’m 25 years old and none of my friends can relate to stuff like this. I grew up with older parents and the showed me and my brother and sister classic movies and music.
Thank you, Davey, for bringing up Superman returns. I was 7, turning 8 in 2006, and I begged my dad to take me. We were so excited, and man, I walked out so upset. I was so upset that I stayed away from Superman for years.
Yeah, it's a disgrace. Singer was SO high on himself after X-Men 1 and 2 he thought he could be Donner. And well, for various reasons we won't need to worry about Singer again!!
@@DavysFlicksKevin Spacey as Lex Luthor...ugh.Awful.I agree,it should have been Brainiac. The cyborg Brainiac from the 80's could have been awesome.Than again, they probably would have found a way to ruin him.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy I was a university student when the TV show came out. I cannot tell you how popular it was. The books were popular. The radio show was popular. What happened to the movie? I am not angry, just disappointed.
@@Fantomassexybeast None do - as Chad said, it's NOT a one off. Otherwise the other 2 who moved him along would push the 3rd! Besides, if others speak they've picked 3 or 4 things all on topic - as King Alo said, Dan just did the plot mostly!
Definitely the 1st one that comes to mind is Rob Zombie's butchery of Halloween. Came out of the theater going what the f...!!!! Never mess with a masterpiece. And in a moment of pure masochism I actually went and saw his Halloween II. What the bloody hell was I thinking!!! I got just what I deserved!
I actually thought the first one was " ok" just because of the Michael backstory. The 2nd one was AWFUL though. Biggest turd ever has to be Halloween Ends. Absolutely dreadful
@@nealandrus6666They actually sort of gave the backstory in the original with the extra scenes that were included for the network television release. Zombie should've never messed with a classic. All he did was make it bloodier. The original is my favorite horror movie of all-time as well as my 4th favorite movie, in general, of all-time. I truly liked Ends. It brought a new slant into the franchise. It's like my 5th favorite of the series. 6 and Kills are the real dogs to me outside of Zombie's crap.
@@kennbrown4638 wow I never saw the TV release version, I need to track that down! And yeah I am a fanatic as far as the first Halloween goes. I just thought Myers having a side kick was just too silly to believe, and yes I thought Halloween Kills was bad as well. The only decent one was the first part of the trilogy.
@@nealandrus6666 Yeah, when they brought it to network television they edited out some of it leaving the film short for a two hour time slot so they went back and shot additional scenes. These scenes were part of the bonus features on more than one dvd release.
I love the crew but actually my favorite Monster's Den episodes are the early ones when Pete was going solo. They reminded me that it can be a wonderful way "to see" the film when someone is telling you the plot in their own words.Felt like I was a kid in the school yard again.
The channel is about 20 times bigger now because of changes like that. If Pete did it all himself? You'd have a tenth of the content, if he even kept it going.
Men in Black: International (2019) My wife and I are very easily pleased. We love Matthew Broderick in "Godzilla". My wife calls it "a pizza on a rainy afternoon movie". We love the last Star Wars trilogy. Daisy Ridley is great. The trilogy (for us) is the journey of her character. We love all of the Star Trek movies. I cannot remember an episode of Dr Who that we both did not like. Enjoying things you watch has improved the quality of our life and we enjoy most things. However....we went to see "Men in Black: International" in a movie theater in southern Thailand. We really love the original Men in Black trilogy. What could go wrong? After watching the movie we walked out of the cinema in silence and my wife turned to me and said, "What was that?"
Dan Brown, keep up those rant. I am such a fanboy! Keep up the good work boys, my favorite show on youtube! I think I have seen all of the shows. Love it!
Some eps could be longer - I don't think we did any service to Hammer's Draculas in one hour because of people's schedules. But overall...YT algorithms tell you when people tune out, so an hour to 90 for a panel is pretty optimum. Solo? 20mins tops, bit longer if there's stuff to show. Kinda sad it operates like that but if you don't meet the algorithm, it doesn't promote you, your growth slows etc etc. I've done plenty of vids on my channel I want to keep talking on, but YT almost punish you for it. THey don't take die-hard cult fans into account!
Also, keep in mind we do these episodes at night, when we could be either spending time with family, going to sleep...or watching films we need to discuss for the next episode. So 90 minutes is kind of pushing it for us.
Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull 💀 there was a bunch of us from work who went to see it and when we walked out looked at each other and said WTF was that 😂😂 great show guys ❤
Love this show. It might be difficult for Monsters Den as horror fans tend to be quite open-minded, but a cool topic (if it hasn't been done) could be "Films I love/respect but are a difficult sell to other people" so films like Last House on the Left.. another one would be "Local Hero," which isn't horror but is 40 years old today, and I will never pass up the opportunity to praise that film.
Classic episode guys!! You all Rock! For me, I will never forget the feeling of betrayal I felt when I first saw the Star Wars sequels. Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), The Last Jedi (2017), and The Rise of Skywalker (2019). I was so pissed off and confused sitting in the theater. I walked out of there and was completely pissed off....and hated all those movies and characters!! ....and what they did to Luke Skywalker. Fack Rian j. And jarjar Abraham's....I will never watch another one of their piece of crap movies!!! Worst directors ever!!!! Long live Luke Skywalker!!
Everything Everywhere All At Once also rustled my jimmies. I know a lot of people loved it, but the cheesy sentimentality, childish sense of humour and an overall sense of desperately wanting to be liked just totally missed me.
The big one for me was Avengers Endgame, between Fat Thor, Pussy Hulk, Iron Man dying, Old Ass Captain America, the lazy time travel solution, after the awesome Infinity War, this was such a letdown.
King was very subdued tonite. Disagree with Dan on Kong - if his point was just "trim half the opening in New York"? Fine. But the stuff on the island was spot on. Why did Pete and Chris pay to see Godzilla? It was clearly a dud beforehand. Jamie spot on for Firefox. Half the film just watching Eastwood sit in a cockpit. Davey nailed exactly the issues with superhero and Star Wars franchises - interchangeable characters and ridiculously convoluted crossovers.
As an 8 year old kid in 1981, I loved seeing Condorman in the theater----but I saw Black Hole in the theater too that year, so I'm with you there on that opinion.
I skipped it during the theatrical run due to poor word of mouth and finally saw it on cable. Ugh. They took two of the coolest movie monsters ever and turned them into bland video game characters. And the second one was even worse....and hard to see anything!
Wanted to add another point to Davy saying Aliens is the same movie as Alien in that Alien is not entirely original itself. It's just a riff on the 50's sci-fi movie, It Came From Outer Space and Jaws (I believe they even pitched it as Jaws in space during production). It was the direction, cast, script, execution of the story and H.R. Giger designs that helped give it a new spin and made it a classic. As I mentioned in my other comments, Aliens does a lot of things new as we see the themes of motherhood (Ripley and the Queen Alien defending their "daughters" be it Newt or the Hive), her distrust of Bishop and the commentary on Vietnam. The alien creatures themselves are given a new biology update and they're still the same dangerous intelligent creatures from the original (see: the scene where they sneak from the ceiling or when the Queen silently tells her soldiers to stand down during the standoff with Ripley), so I'm not seeing how it's a simple mindless action fest. If anything it's Alien 3 that's just a retread of the original as it's doing the same setup - a bunch of people getting picked off by the creature in a enclosed setting - only this time we don't care about the supporting cast as much since they're all one-dimensional criminals and murderers. And they don't do anything new with the creature this time either!
The main problem I had with that one wasn't the lame and unfunny plot, the bad acting or the gross-out humor (which can be funny if done right), but the fact that it was SO. DAMN. BORING! I mean, NOTHING happens in this movie!! What a crapfest.
Have you done a show about films you hated at first but grew to love? I was SO PISSED after seeing "The Empire Strikes Back" in 1980. The darker tone put me off, but what really got me mad was the half-finished story ending. That had not been done before (other than Bakshi's horrid LOTR" - that pissed me off, too!) I was calling it "The Empire Eats Bucks". Yes it is may be my favorite SW film nowadays.
I havn’t been to the ‘’pictures’’ for many years but the last pile of shite I remember being forced to go see was Croc. Dundee 2, that was awful. Thank you fellas for another good long episode of The Monster’s Den, once the highlight of my week and now of my….fortnight.
Craig mentioned Moonraker.I know a lot of Bond fans like to shit on that one.But its actually my favorite in the series. One reason is I have good memories of that day,Being in the back seat of my Dads Buick on a sunny Summer afternoon, stopping by the Woolworth to get candy(we never paid concession stand prices at this particular cinema)before the movie. I also remember going to that same Woolworth weeks later and getting a bunch of packs of Moonraker trading cards. I grew up on the Roger Moore movies,so he's always been my favorite Bond. Too Bad Timothy Dalton didn't stick around. And no Davy,I didn't like Die Another Day.I did like the idea of 007 being imprisoned and M not being able to help. I have not seen any of the Craig movies.Did Blofeld ever come back?I haven't seen him since the first few minutes of For Your Eyes Only.
Wow! I had completely forgotten Condorman! I saw it at the Independence Square Cinema.Well..I enjoyed it more than I did Herbie Goes Bananas. Craig and Chris,I am around the same age(being born in 1971)Did either of you see the boxing Kangaroo movie,Matilda? I saw that at the theater, and enjoyed it.
Terry Gilliam's "Brazil" Let me explain. You are talking about leaving the theater feeling angry. This movie is fantastic and the ending that Terry Gilliam wanted was perfect. However, when I saw it first, I thought that it was going to be a happy ending. It just broke my heart. In fact I seem to remember that I shouted "No" in the cinema. So much so that even though this is an absolute gem of a movie I have never been able to watch this again. So I got angry because of the movie ending I needed, not the ending that I wanted.
In the UK the first Evil Dead was a banned 'video nasty' so I didn't see it for years. Evil Dead II ran in my local Cinema when it came out and it was one of the first horror films I saw at the cinema. I loved the humour and me and my friends went to see it a few times. When the original eventually got a release and I saw it .... I didn't enjoy it as much.
Totally agree with Peter Jackson’s King Kong. The 1933 version told the same story in a brisk 100 min. Jackson”s version at a laborious 188 min. The best cgi in the world will never overcome a plodding, overwrought story.
Great Show! I'm with Dan on Jackson's "Kong" I felt like I had sat through it TWICE by the end of the film (CGI= no respect for physics). Don't think I was EVER more pissed than after seeing "Alien 3". "Blair Witch": I couldn't believe it was a theatrical release! Regarding Superhero Movie fatigue: It's more CRAP superhero movie fatigue! There has not been good superhero content since "Endgame".
Easy...ALIEN 3. Opening Friday night, 7pm. We walk out & there's a line for the 10pm show. People are looking at us, kinda smiling. Mostly, I didn't make eye contact. The 2-3 people I did look at...I just shook my head.
Pirates Of The Caribbean number 2. I didn't like it and I don't remember why but I do remember people grumbling as we walked out saying "what the hell was that?" Pirates 3 never got my attention.
Great show as usual - always excited for a new Monster's Den! You guys are spot on with the Marvel stuff lately ... it's just too much. They took what was a cool idea of linking those first few films with the Avengers movie, and just drove it into the ground. It was getting difficult enough to make sure you saw all of the movies to stay up to date, but then they introduced the TV shows into the mix ... then came the movies that took place prior to the first few (i.e. Capt Marvel, Black Widow) and then this multi-verse BS... I'm at the point of just throwing in the towel on the whole thing. As far as the topic of the show - the only one that came to mind that none of you mentioned was the Lost In Space film from 1998. I had grown up watching the reruns of the original show and just loving it. When they announced the movie with the usually reliable likes of Gary Oldman & William Hurt (not to mention the foxy Heather Graham), I was all in. But sakes alive, it was completely awful. And funnily enough it seems to have been erased from existence .. unlike many of the ones you guys discussed, I literally NEVER randomly encounter it on TV. And for the best, I'd say.
If you guys like Rogue One you will love Andor. Amazing show! It’s like Star Wars meets The Wire. It’s a slow burn though so you have to stick with it.
I loved rogue one but didn’t like andor at all…but then again I don’t like any of the Disney Star Wars stuff other than rogue one I would like them to update the Tarkin fx though
Yeah I loved Andor. At first it didn't interest me much (a show about a character from one of the movie spin-offs?) and the first 1-2 episodes were setting things up, but it won me over with it's great acting, political intrigue, character-driven drama and a good cast. While I enjoy the fun escapist fantasy of Star Wars with rebels vs empire and alien monsters, I can appreciate something different like they did here. It definitely made up for the disappointing Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi shows.
"Dunkirk' was one of the biggest disappointments of my movie-viewing life. If it hadn't been highly rated it wouldn't have been so bad. I just wasn't able to suspend my disbelief whatsoever.
I feel like there's a lack of good original content in the film industry these days. Directors and filmmakers are just milking popular movies (with sequels/remakes) for their own benefit because they don't have anything better to do.
Wonder boys is a fantastic film and book. Written by Michael Chabon who wrote "the Amazing of kavalier and clay," a fictional account of the creation of Superman comics
I 've liked his writingin the past....but he used up the goodwill with what he did to Star Trek with his awful take on Picard. It's the lowest Star Trek ever got. Thank God Terry Matalas got the big chair eventually
@Davy's Cinema Flicks & Music Picks I like wonderboys, kavalier and clay and a bizarre book called "the Yiddish policeman's union" an alternate history where European Jews are given Alaska instead of Israel after WW2
Halloween Ends Star Trek V: The Final Frontier Thor: Love and Thunder X-Men: Apocalypse Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Fantastic Four(2015)
Jamie is spot on about No Time to Die. I'm a die-hard Bond fan and, like Jamie, I like the formula. I will admit though, I didn't leave pissed off. I caught wind of the spoilers beforehand and never bothered to watch it...and never will. As far as I'm concerned Spectre was the final Daniel Craig movie. And if they pull anymore garbage out of their behinds for possible future Bond films just to "shock fans" and make headlines rather than good movies, I'll stick with Spectre as the last official Bond movie. I can go back and happily watch any of the others a hundred more times.
How can you be a die hard Bond fan and say you don’t care if Bond’s a black woman? Just make up a new character if you feel the need for that. Bond’s a white dude. Deal with it!
@@fattymcfatso1083 This is my argument every time. I remember there being talk when Die Another Day came out that they were thinking about a spin-off based on the Jinx character because they were so sure the movie and her character would be a huge hit. Then when it turned out even Bond die-hards hated the movie and especially her character, they tried to wipe that awful idea from memory. I guarantee the idea of a black, female 007 would be met with just as much derision since they were essentially trying to make Jinx a...wait for it...black, female 007. The media will fawn again while the fans and likely most everyone else will avoid it. It's amazing how these morons can't learn from their past mistakes. It's OK for 007 to be a white, British man. Why is that so hard to understand?
For me it's without a doubt and by far Blair Witch Project. Remember seeing the trailers and thinking wow that looks like it sucks , then you had all these reviews and reports saying how horrifying it was , hell it was even on the news how some viewers were terrified , passed out in the theaters.Thought well this is obviously over the top and all but there must be a scene or 2 that's quite something so went to see it with my brother and WTF ,wanted to leave after a bit but was obstinate there has to be something I thought...nope complete shit! Never been so angry at a movie , I'm still angry ,plus it started the whole found footage trend. Going to stop now the vein in my forehead's gonna pop.
Chris is right on. Alien and Alien 2 are amazing movies, some of the best films of all time. Alien 3 is AWFUL. Thank you for summing up my feelings perfectly lol
I'm pretty selective about the movies I watch in theaters so I don't often go home angry, but I can definitely think of some that really ticked me off. The Desolation of Smaug. As soon it launched into that idiotic Scooby Doo chase through the mountain between Smaug and the Dwarves, I was done. I've never actually walked out in the middle of any movie, but that's the closest I've ever come. The Last Jedi. I grew up on Star Wars, and even through the prequel trilogy I never gave up hope of it becoming great again. I hated Last Jedi so much I haven't watched another minute of Star Wars material since. Honeymoon in Vegas. This is my earliest memory of walking out angry at the end of a movie (think I was about 13 or 14 when it came out). Everything about it felt it was specially designed to push my berserk buttons. Get Him to the Greek. This is very much not my style of comedy but my sister and brother-in-law wanted to see it and paid for my ticket, so I couldn't say no. They were laughing their heads off; I was mostly just rolling my eyes and waiting for it to be over. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Practically every change they made to the original story was a change for the worse, and don't even get me started on Depp's take on Wonka.
Yeah, I really dislike the "well, one was scary...so let's have a hundred!" mentality. Turned a tense, atmosphetic film into a dumb shooter. Alien 3 was a brilliant reset and I'm not sure how anyone can mix the characters up when they intentionally cast people with faces you can't mix up from Charles Dance to Pete Posthelwaite.
@@karlkarlos3545 And Woody Allen thinks Annie Hall and Manhattan are two of his worst. Hitchcock hated Rope. We don't need Van Gogh's opinions on his paintings to decide if we like them or not. The artist's job stops when it's released.
@@DavysFlicks Those two Woody movies are great---he apparently forgot about Everyone Says I Love You, Scenes From A Mall (Christ, that one was AWFUL), Celebrity and Curse of the Jade Scorpion.
@@DavysFlicks I respect your opinion Davy, but I have to disagree here. I don't see how Aliens is a "dumb shooter" when it only features three major setpieces in the entire film and the movie takes a full hour before re-introducing the creatures. They spend time developing Ripley's trauma from the original, her chemistry with the supporting marines, her relationship with Newt and the new biology for the creatures. The way I see it is that Cameron knew that he couldn't top the surprise of seeing the Alien creature for the first time, so he went with a new approach by making an action movie. And since the good guys this time were highly-armed marines, they had to do something new with the title creatures themselves so I thought bringing in more of them and introducing a big "boss" alien (The Queen) was a genius move. I respect Alien 3 for what it tries to do and it has its moments (Weaver's performance and a great cast of British actors), but for me, it ultimately falls short of the first two because I just don't care much about any of the supporting characters (they're played by great actors, but the characters have no depth to them), the overbearing nihilism and they don't do anything new with the creature itself. I also can't get over the way they write out Hicks and Newt at the beginning because it makes no sense with what was established with the alien lifecycle in the first two.
OOoo my god I can't stop laughing !! Only 4 minutes in and Chris has already presented us with a quotable t-shit " Hate fueled sleepiness" .... ohh my god I'm dying... Here I thought I was always feeling tired because I'm getting old (56yrs old), or maybe I'm vitamin deficient . Turns out it's just a case of " Hate fueled sleepiness"
Quentin Tarantino: Could not stand Inglourious Basterds and everyone loved it. I don't think he's made a good film since then. I was just off of knee surgery and was on pain killers so I watch IB to pass some time. It pissed me off so much I had to take more pain killers. I don't advise this, btw. 😆
Indiana Jones & The Crystal Skull The Last Jedi Rise of Skywalker The Force Awakens The Phantom Menace Attack of the Clones The Hobbit Trilogy Blair Witch Halloween Ends
I cant say that any of these pissed me off.I wasn't that angry. Army of Darkness. I was hoping for something more like Evil Dead 2(I saw it Memorial Day weekend with my Mom!),but I don't even know if it qualifies as horror?I guess horror fantasy? Tales From Crypt I was pissed off that my parents didn't wake me up and I missed the entire movie, except for the first story. Damnation Alley See above They I think it's a Wes Craven film?I didn't know what to expect, and was not expecting much and didn't get much. I remember getting a little excited..righ before the end credits came on. Freddy vs Jason I do like the fight between Jason and Freddy, but the rest of it..... The only Alien movies I care to watch again are the first 2.(and the first one pissed me off..because I fell asleep during it...and missed nearly the whole damn movie, seeing it in the theater when I was 8) The only Predator movies I care watch again are the first 2. The only Terminator movie I will watch again is the first one.I gave up after the ffourth one..jeez what a piece of shit that was Anacondas Hunt For Blood Orchid The worst move I ever saw at the theater .
Lol Alien 3 didn't have any CGI alien in it whatsoever! It was a rod puppet on a green screen. It was just super rushed in post production so it looked like ass!
Tremors: Shrieker Island (2020) I am easily pleased. If I like a franchise, it can do no wrong. I love, love, love the Tremors franchise. However, it is beyond belief to kill the main character. Now when I say "main" character I mean the only character that has been in all the movies. If you want to finish the franchise, fair enough, but why do it in such a mean spirited and pointless way. Who thought that this was a good idea? We need some names!!! FYI, I did not see this in the theater as I think it was not released in the cinemas (certainly not here in Thailand)
I must admit to not liking it myself - it's headache inducing (intentionally, with Roger supposed to be annoying) - it wasn't untill someone gave me a loan of the source material that my mind was blown!
The Predator. I left with that ‘punch in the gut’ feeling like the wife I don’t have cheated on me with my best friend. A fine representation of what cinematically shitting the bed looks like. As I’ve come around on the AVP films, The Predator remains to be the sole embarrassing uncle you don’t want to invite over because he’s touchy of the Predator films. God I hate that movie. Biggest let down I’ve ever felt from a film, even after seeing Dickshark 5x. As King Chris or Jamie would say, “Fuck this movie.”
Star Trek Beyond is a good pick. If someone were to ask me what it was about I'd have no idea what to tell them. I do remember it being really boring, so I'd probably just go with that.
For 29 April, 2023: Ok.. So.. I'm actually going to comment on this.. You Triggered me. Superman Returns.. I know all about it.. I Should.. I was an extra as part of the Daily Planet.. What started out as 20 days of work.. Turned in 3 months.. And I got 7 seconds of screen time.. I was hoping for 4 seconds.. And actually got 7. There is a drafting board shot.. With me leaning close into the drafting board with my long brown shoulder length hair.. There is a Whole other story to that which is ironic. So.. What should I start off with? Brian Singer is a very detached director. He is very impersonal.. The guy does not like to interact with his actors.. Which I thought was strange.. Actually the DP.. The DP was this pretty cool Hollywood guy who interacted with everyone.. Especially us extras(Background talent).. Also.. The other cinema photographer guy was very social with everyone and I spoke with him a few times.. He would actually direct us and the cinema photographers were fun to be around.. They were terrific with us. What did Brian Singer do.. Not much.. Not much at all. He didn't interact with anyone.. He would just be in a corner some where making demands.. I want this shot.. I want that shot. If someone made a suggestion for a shot.. Then it might take them 90 minutes to set up.. During which all us extras would fall asleep at out desks. What was it like to be on the set? Absolutely Amazing.. Incredible.. I was doing what I wanted to do.. On the way to it.. And the second AD was fantastic with all of us. But I'm Annoyed at the people in charge.. The producers.. But that's another story.. And I didn't realize until years later(It turns out I had a more compelling/engaging screen presence than Brandon Routh(Well Yeah.. Of course I did.. Then why didn't they give me some bloody lines? Kickstart a career for me.. As I said.. Whole other story.. Although at the time I was still somewhat immature to a degree and may not have handled fame that well.. Or as well as I thought I would.. At that time.. What do I mean by that? Ok.. I might have become quite cocky about it.. A bit arrogant about it.. Although.. I always say to myself now.. Be humble.. Be humble. It's a double edge sword). Brandon Routh.. Yeah.. Kinda quiet at the time. Respectful of everyone.. But the cinema photographers who were the real directors as Brian Singer did nothing on that set.. They had to really push Brandon to get that Superman energy out of him. James Marsden.. Good guy.. Quite sociable.. Respectful.. Considerate.. I was merely feet away from him a few times.. He is/was chilled and polite. Parker Posey.. She was interesting but didn't really interact with anyone to much.. And Unfortunately I missed the day on set.. A lot of us extras had a day off. Got to set the next day and the other extras informed us of the show down between Singer and Posey the previous day. They had had an indifference.. Then it escalated.. Then they started screaming at each other. One of us extra's the next day said.. You should have been here yesterday.. You missed it.. The big screaming match between Singer and Posey.. It was a whopper. About Kevin Spacey you ask? He was Interesting.. He had this demeanor about him.. Like a real New Yorker.. Kinda dark.. Mysterious.. Edgy. He looked a bit flustered and un interested to be on set after a 22 hour flight from New York or 12 hours from Los Angeles. I was star struck by him.. Very few other people were.. As many of the extras had no idea who he was.. But a few of my extra friends at the time did know.. And understood my reaction. I never saw him on set.. Only outside the set.. Like when you walk out from the studio door and into the other section on the studio lot. Brian Singer was walking toward us with some guys.. Spacey was standing about 20 feet away.. Looking indifferent.. I was star struck staring at Spacey but trying not to be obvious about it. I was in their way apparently.. One of my extra friends said.. Pat.. Get out of the way.. Quickly.. Then my extra friend yanked me out of the way.. And Singer bulldozed passed.. He would have knocked me flying.. Then Singer ran up and gave Spacey a huge hug. Then we got dismissed for lunch.. And I could barely eat.. All I could think about was Spacey is here.. Omg Kevin Spacey is here.. Omg. All the other extras couldn't have cared less.. They had no clue who he was.. Except for a few of my extra friends. I sat at lunch that day dumb struck. My friends there said.. Come on Pat.. Try to eat.. You need to get some food into you.. Big afternoon ahead. I've seen Superman returns a few times.. It's Ok.. Sort of.. I was so proud of it.. I actually bought it when it came out.. But I don't have that copy anymore sadly. Saw it at the cinema.. Yes.. I made a big deal out of it to everyone at the time.. Yes.. Was over the moon with my 7 seconds of screen time... Yes.. Continued on to do heaps of extra work after that in Sydney..(I should have been more aggressive at the time) And not just settled for extra work. It's ok.. Am writing my feature script at the moment.. Which I play the main character in and a bunch of short film scripts ready to go.. I play the main character in all of them. I had already done a lot of extra work before Superman Returns as my agent got me work all the time.. Albeit in some very inconvenient locations to get to. But I was annoyed and disgruntled at certain producers/people in charge on set of Superman.. But I was naive at the time of what to do about that.. Because I was just so excited to be there. This last sentence now is another EDIT abt 6 hours later.. As I have just looked up a clip from the movie.. "Clark returns to the Daily Planet" From 1 minute 18- to 1 minute 20.. I come into frame just under Brandon Routh's nose.. That is Handsome me.. I just got goosebumps watching this.
@@fattymcfatso1083 Why are you even commenting then? Actually I'd prefer if you would delete your comment.. As it has nothing to do with my experience on set. Some people need to think before they speak. I was relating an experience.. Not asking what you thought about the movie.
Great video. My worst theatrical experience has to be Halloween Kills. Was super hyped for it but ended up leaving the theater wondering what I had just witnessed. Terrible movie but one that I constantly try to enjoy but so far no luck.
Good discussion everyone and can agree with some of your choices! I've had quite a few films that left me upset after leaving: Blues Brothers 2000 - I saw this in the theater when it was originally released and even as a immature 14 year old, I thought it was a pale shadow of the original. Love both Dan Aykroyd and John Goodman, but they shouldn't have done it without Belushi. The Avengers - Agree with it being mentioned here! I recall getting tickets to see it opening night and man, it was an awful movie with no coherent plot to speak of and just a big mess. Prometheus - I was so excited to hear Ridley Scott was returning to both the Alien franchise and to sci-fi/horror and the movie looked cool in the teasers. Shame that the movie we got was a lame retread of Alien with stupid characters and a terrible script that makes no sense. It also makes the alien creatures less cool knowing that they were created by bodybuilders mixed with black goo or whatever. Ugh. Thinking about this movie annoys me to no end. Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Totally agreed with Dan here! 30 years after Return of the Jedi and they give us...a remake of the original Star Wars? Seriously? Of all the interesting routes they could have taken and they undo everything accomplished at the end of the Original Trilogy for another boring rebels vs empire story only without any of the memorable characters, drama, action sequences and spark that made the original three so good. It also sets a poor foundation for the rest of the Sequel Trilogy to follow. The Predator - I thought 2010's Predators wasn't bad and I was intrigued by Shane Black coming in to direct, but this movie just dropped the ball in so many ways. They just rehash the whole gang of tough guy misfits from the original, recycle another bigger Predator monster from the previous movie, retcon the whole monster mythology and incorporate too much silly humor that feels out of place in this franchise. Thankfully 2022's Prey saved this series. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker - Don't want to recycle what's already been said before, but I just don't understand what the ultimate plan was for the Sequel Trilogy other than remake the originals and make more $$$. I like to pretend the first two seasons of The Madalorian is the real continuation after Return of the Jedi.
Terminator Dark Fate (2019)!! They killed little John in the beginning!! It was a big "Fuck you" from Cameron for me and just ruined my childhood memories :(
So what exactly is "woke"? I hear trolls use this term on every comment section, yet they never give a clear response to what it means. It basically boils down to "waahhhh too many people of color in this movie" or t"here's a strong woman or LGBT character which is promoting an agenda" or whatever nonsense idiots whine about these days.
Magic. Loved this! 👍👍✔✔
Chris is a master at venting indeed xD
Hey, thanks Spencer, glad you enjoyed it!
I 100% agree with Dan, a force awakens is just the same as a watered down ’a new hope’
Thank you, Davey, for bringing up Superman returns. I was 7, turning 8 in 2006, and I begged my dad to take me. We were so excited, and man, I walked out so upset. I was so upset that I stayed away from Superman for years.

I was a university student when the TV show came out. I cannot tell you how popular it was. The books were popular. The radio show was popular. What happened to the movie? I am not angry, just disappointed.
Other panelists getting mad at Dan for rambling way too long is becoming a wonderful recurring theme of this show.

Dan is very well-informed, but he lacks self-awareness.
Halloween Ends pissed me off so bad. Was in a rage at how much it sucked.
Most of the Halloween movies, of any era, suck.
It’s legitimately one of the worst “horror” films ever made. 100%.
What did you think of Halloween Kills?
@@ilj1259 it was ok. Not great not terrible.
same here!!! Horrendous film
I got just what I deserved!
definitely Kenn.
James I'm not saying I want those times back but they're still my favorite episodes.
Hi Juha, I also liked the early ones and I also enjoyed the triad of Pete, Chris Alo and the much missed Rich Catino reading off Wikipedia 🤣
Men in Black: International (2019)
My wife and I are very easily pleased.
Love it!
Jamie Laszlo is best thing that has happened to this channel!
I wish you guys didnt feel like you have to rush through these episodes. I could listen to these for 3 hours plus! The longer the better!
So 90 minutes is kind of pushing it for us.
...or have dogs getting uneasy on the other side of our door.
Thanks for the responses fellas. This all makes sense!
For the SOT crew it goes too long but for fans like me it could go on forever! All the better to listen to while running.
Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull 💀 there was a bunch of us from work who went to see it and when we walked out looked at each other and said WTF was that 😂😂 great show guys ❤
Same! Awful movie
Great call
Can't decide what's worse--the movie or the pretentious title. LORD!
The Happening - I was angry when I left the theater, like I'd been swindled.
I appreciate it now for the comic masterpiece it is.
no way is aliens 3 better than 2
Love this show.
Good show gentlemen , enjoyed it . 👍

Everything Everywhere All At Once also rustled my jimmies. I know a lot of people loved it, but the cheesy sentimentality, childish sense of humour and an overall sense of desperately wanting to be liked just totally missed me.
Hated this movie. I could not wait for it to end.

I loved it. One if the greatest movies ever BUT definitely not for everyone. It went right over a lot of peoples heads.
@@charlesrambeau519 I think it went *under* a lot of people’s heads.
Same. Thought it was overrated
Cause that's what Godzilla fans do! Only in this instance, it backfired.
As an 8 year old kid in 1981, I loved seeing Condorman in the theater----but I saw Black Hole in the theater too that year, so I'm with you there on that opinion.
me too!Saw both of them at the theater
Alien vs Predator. I knew it would suck but I actually felt robbed.
I skipped it during the theatrical run due to poor word of mouth and finally saw it on cable. Ugh. They took two of the coolest movie monsters ever and turned them into bland video game characters.
And the second one was even worse....and hard to see anything!
Saw Evil Dead Rise last night. It was legit. Great kills and the gore was turned up rather high.
What’s funny is that David picked the 2 movies I would have picked and pretty much said what I would’ve said lol
I watched this 4 months a go,and don't remember if anyone mentioned either APV movies or Predators or The Predator?
I was hyped for "The Garbage Pail Kids Movie" when I went to see it at age five. I think that was when I first learned that things could be bad.
That had not been done before (other than Bakshi's horrid LOTR" - that pissed me off, too!)
I was calling it "The Empire Eats Bucks". Yes it is may be my favorite SW film nowadays.
We did a topic like that a while back
Blair Witch Project. I felt ripped off and everyone in the theater felt the same. I thought there was going to be a riot. Man that sucked.
Yeah and when I meet someone that tells me how terrifying it is because it's a true story I just wanna slap 'em behind the head
Love the Highlander. However, when the Scotsman on the panel expresses his dislike for the film, you have to respect that.

Terry Gilliam's "Brazil"
Let me explain.
I've only ever seen it with the downer ending(s)! Never watched the "Love Conquers All" cut
@FlicksNPicks if you don't want a great movie but super downer ending, don't watch The Mission with Robert De Niro.

Pirates 3 never got my attention.
And for the best, I'd say.
oh, man. i forgot about that Lost In Space flick. it sucked! the original show was a childhood favorite.
If you guys like Rogue One you will love Andor. Amazing show! It’s like Star Wars meets The Wire. It’s a slow burn though so you have to stick with it.

@@brewt1mer why didn't you like it? It definitely starts off slow.

Chaotic mess
I feel like there's a lack of good original content in the film industry these days. Directors and filmmakers are just milking popular movies (with sequels/remakes) for their own benefit because they don't have anything better to do.

Should've been called Nothing Happens: The Movie.
The Dark Knight Rises, Suicide Squad, Kick Ass 2 for me.
Kick ass 2 is a great one. I remember being angry walking out of that one. It was so bad I felt insulted as a fan of the first one.
Ugh! I TOTALLLY forgot Dark Knight Rises!
Chris is right on. Alien and Alien 2 are amazing movies, some of the best films of all time. Alien 3 is AWFUL. Thank you for summing up my feelings perfectly lol
I love monsters den i think chris is john belushi reincarnated. Whata funny dude
Anyone attending the Carolina Chainsaw Massacre Fest in Greensboro,NC this Saturday (May 6th)?
Alien 4,5 and Prometheus
I have to agree with Davey about Alien 3. Will take it over Aliens every time.
@@DavysFlicks Alien 3 was so brilliant that even David Fincher disowned it. Sorry, but I think this franchise went worse with every new instalment.
Indiana Jones & The Crystal Skull
The Last Jedi
Rise of Skywalker
The Force Awakens
The Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones
The Hobbit Trilogy
Blair Witch
Halloween Ends
What time did this stream? I stayed up for it, but gave up around 11 PM EST.
Pete and Chris were taping right after as their schedules were crazy, so later than usual, midnight ESTish.
@@DavysFlicks Thanks for the response and information!
I cant say that any of these pissed me off.I wasn't that angry.
Army of Darkness.
I was hoping for something more like Evil Dead 2(I saw it Memorial Day weekend with my Mom!),but I don't even know if it qualifies as horror?I guess horror fantasy?
Tales From Crypt
I was pissed off that my parents didn't wake me up and I missed the entire movie, except for the first story.
Damnation Alley
See above
They
I think it's a Wes Craven film?I didn't know what to expect, and was not expecting much and didn't get much.
I remember getting a little excited..righ before the end credits came on.
Freddy vs Jason
I do like the fight between Jason and Freddy, but the rest of it.....
The only Alien movies I care to watch again are the first 2.(and the first one pissed me off..because I fell asleep during it...and missed nearly the whole damn movie, seeing it in the theater when I was 8)
The only Predator movies I care watch again are the first 2.
The only Terminator movie I will watch again is the first one.I gave up after the ffourth one..jeez what a piece of shit that was
Anacondas Hunt For Blood Orchid
The worst move I ever saw at the theater
.
Lol Alien 3 didn't have any CGI alien in it whatsoever! It was a rod puppet on a green screen. It was just super rushed in post production so it looked like ass!
Tremors: Shrieker Island (2020)
I am easily pleased.
My one confirmed walkout was in 1988 - Who Framed Roger Rabbit
I dunno, man. I'm sure you walked in knowing what type of movie you were in for...and I'm not sure how they could have done it any better,
I must admit to not liking it myself - it's headache inducing (intentionally, with Roger supposed to be annoying) - it wasn't untill someone gave me a loan of the source material that my mind was blown!
The one of only movies I remember ever waking out of was "Teen Wolf"". I hated that movie and I haven't bothered to watch since.
Predator; Predators; The Predator - I’m confused
Last two oo7 films, last 6 star wars, star trek beyond, the mummy.. Mathew Brodrick Godzilla.
Star Trek Beyond is a good pick. If someone were to ask me what it was about I'd have no idea what to tell them. I do remember it being really boring, so I'd probably just go with that.
I can churn some butter lol 😂
Shymalayans films have annoyed me to the point where If I see that name on the film I swerve.
Suprised nobody mentioned Hudson Hawk 😮
Well, it's not "worst films ever" - it's one's we've paid to go and see at the cinema, or it'd be a different list.
Wow, that's quite a story!
If only being a bit weird and off-beat were the worst things we could say about Singer and Spacey in retrospect...
@@DavysFlicks Thanks for your response. I try not to come across as arrogant when typing things out. As typing can be one dimensional.
That movie was so nothing that I totally forgot about it. Henry Cavill is the worthy successor to Christopher Reeve.
Honestly I never even liked the original.
Good discussion everyone and can agree with some of your choices!
I've had quite a few films that left me upset after leaving:
Blues Brothers 2000 - I saw this in the theater when it was originally released and even as a immature 14 year old, I thought it was a pale shadow of the original.
I would say Jamie and I have opposite tastes in films :).
Terminator Dark Fate (2019)!! They killed little John in the beginning!! It was a big "Fuck you" from Cameron for me and just ruined my childhood memories :(
This would have been on my list for sure, but I didn't see it in the theater.
The Blair Witch Project - a total hype-fed con. Got my first raging letter published in the NME, so at least I got something out of it.
Surely the list is endless
Well, BAD movies is a massive list but this being explicitly ones we saw in the cinema, it's not quite as endless.
If it weren't for Alo, this show would have been 3 hours long.
I liked The Village.
Anything WOKE you should be extremely concerned about.
