I was crying singing this song, knowing BJ Thomas had died. I think this song make me appreciate country music hearing him sing. I was a child of the 70's at the time.
I love this GREAT tune not only is it great to listen to it also makes a wonderful foxtrot to dance to!!! The 70's had some of the BEST music ever written.
Born Billy Joe Thomas. Billboard's #17 song of the '75 survey year. God bless you, brother BJ! Thanx, Charlie, for postin' it. Have a blessed rest of the week!
I don't understand why radio won't play traditional country music. There's still a lot of people who love it.Go ahead and play the new stuff. All I'm saying is there's a place for all of it.Just don't act like traditional country doesn't matter anymore
I miss old school country music it brings back a lot of memories of my mother. When we first moved to the states this is all we heard over the radio and on Saturday nights we would watch Hee-Haw (We didn't even know any English lol).
cflo1386 Yeah, The United States was referred to as the good ol USA before Bush and Cheney ruined it by finishing what Hitler wanted. F'n ahole's excuse my french.
cacolyptic cacotopia I take that you think the egotistical, lying, pseudo-president, wannabe dictator, arrogant, muslim Arab presently in the WH is not REALLY ruining this country.
Donald Evans For the worst part of it all, Bush's Al Qaeda and Cheney's Illuminati are the obloquious "other side of the mirror" and that is what is wrong with the United States.. Bush and Cheney are Hitler resurrected.
The lying, egotistical, pseudo-president, wannabe dictator, arrogant, muslim Arad in the WH is just another Idi Amin. Worst so called president ever in this country.
@karenkjtigger cool memory, my mom used to play, Best of my Love by the Eagles a lot when I was young--love that song and it brings up nice memories of her
Omg I'm West African 54 and love this song. I just herd it on "To Wongfu...." but remember hearing it on road trips with the family in America. I love this song!
I used to love this song as a kid and had forgotten about it for so long... then I heard it playing in the background during a scene of "Midnight Texas" and immediately had to jump on here to see if I could find it. Thank you Midnight Texas for reminding me, to RUclips for having it and to Charlie Venne for uploading it. :-)
Yes, I agree, I do I do!! those certainly were the good oldl days, days we took for granted even I never realized how good I had it. today's country is awful for the most part, this song here gives me goosebumps every time I hear it now days. I go back to a happier time reminiscing fun simple times at my grandparents ranch. and my crazy wonderful grandpa most of all. Smile. Smile smile!!!
Another great song I'd forgotten about but thanks to RUclips and the likes of Charlie Venne we can relive them and the memories. Makes you wonder were those 40+ years have gone though.
Reminds me of my older sisters n brothers playing records while our parents were out 4 the night...early 1970's.....best of times i simply didnt kno it yet...
i read in a bilboard top 100 book that this "hey, wont you play( another somebody done somebody wrong song)" was the longest song title of any other top 100 billboard hit
WOW!!! I remember listening to this song along with many other classics with my Pawpaw in his “man cave” as a kid!!!! It brings tears to my eyes!!!How I miss those days!!!! RIP Mawmaw and Pawpaw love you both 😇😇😢😭!!!!!💙❤️💜💛🧡💚🖤
Circa 1975-remember it well! However, the one that tore me up was when BJ had a hit with Hank Sr.'s "I'm so Lonesome I Could Cry". When I was in the Army (A.I.T.) at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma we had "Guard Duty or "Fire Watch" at night to ck. on the barracks' coal furnaces, add coal if needed. I use to carry a small Transistor Radio with me and often that song came on, put tears in my eyes! (Feb. 1966)
This was my era of country. Back when everybody wad listening to everyt kind of music. Im an r&b/soul guy but back then country music was just as prevalent on AM radio and that music hit your soul just as hard. Great melody and lyrics. BJ, Tom T. Hall, Dolly, Tammy W, and my favorite The Silver Fox aka Charlie Rich.
I do not think if any one ever will produce a song like this. Super lyrics, breath taking tune and What can I say about the singing. Out of this world.
Timeless song... Thanks so much Cv2k for posting this video! ♫♪♫♪♫ I hope everyone understands the message of lyrics... It's something far more important than music.......
On this date in 1975 {May 3rd} B. J. Thomas performed this song on the late Dick Clark's American Bandstand... Three months earlier on February 1st it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100; and on April 26th peaked at #1 {for 1 week} and spent 18 weeks in the Top 100... R.I.P. Mr. Clark...
I dont know why country music sounds so sweet to my ear, being born in the caribbean and raised in new york. Bless the genre and its interpreters. The gambler,[my favorite]
While shopping for sprinkler parts at Home Depot, this song came on and I remembered this song from when I was a kid! I couldn't believe that after so many years I remembered the lyrics!! Cool song
I was lucky enough to grow up hearing songs like this on the radio! Listening to this now really makes me see just how brilliant so many musicians were that we had in those days. Its kinda funny that Im sitting back right now jamming out on B.J. Thomas's Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song! It's just so brilliant though!!!
"(Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song" is an American country and pop song made famous by B.J. Thomas. It won the 1976 Grammy Award for Best Country Song, awarded to its songwriters, Larry Butler and Chips Moman.
adri k I was 5 years old when Rock and Roll began .Bill Haley and the Comets. Elvis Presley, and other I still can Recall alot of Songs Hank Williams Rosemary Clooney. The 70's Country Music Bands played at Bars and Country Musci Clubs. I'm glad you brought the memories back.
I'll never forget stumbling upon this one. My boyfriend playing his video games on his computer and me surfing on mine. I blasted this and my boyfriend and I MAGICALLY knew all the words and sang along LOUD...it was great. Thanks for this.
Now THIS is REAL country music. That junk played at the CMA awards with electric guitars, drums and keyboards isn't. That's rock with a tiny bit of a country twang.
I'm sure the Jimmie Rogers and Hank Williams fans thought this song was no good and longed for the days of real country music. The great thing about music is that all styles change over time. Hopefully there is a little something for everyone. I love this song too!
Bowing at #99 on the Hot 100 on February 1, 1975, the hit became Thomas' second #1 single, on April 26, 1975. Including the parenthetical part, the title is the longest of any song to top the Hot 100. It also topped Billboard's Easy Listening chart and was the last of his four Number Ones on that chart. It also hit #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Billboard ranked it as the No. 17 song for 1975.
I was crying singing this song, knowing BJ Thomas had died. I think this song make me appreciate country music hearing him sing. I was a child of the 70's at the time.
A great tune by B.J. Thomas...One of his best! A crossover hit on both the country & pop music charts. Hit #1 on both charts in April 1975!
I love this song so much. It evokes good childhood memories. 1975 was a great year.

They think since it is guitar and they wear a cowboy hat that it considered country.
I'm sure the Jimmie Rogers and Hank Williams fans thought this song was no good and longed for the days of real country music. The great thing about music is that all styles change over time. Hopefully there is a little something for everyone. I love this song too!
