Lovely video! Another old tradition of the Yule log: get a real tree for decorating, and after Yule is over, set it out in the garage. At Candlemas, cut the boughs off, and burn them, using the flame for visualizing your plans for the new Spring. At Beltane, use the trunk to weave your ribbons in dancing with your coven. And then at last, the trunk becomes the next Yule log and you get that years decorating tree. I've never had a fireplace to be able to do this, and regardless of how fun it sounds, Minnesota is no place to be outside for rituals in the winter!. Maybe someday...

We always celebrate the return of the light by having moon and sun ornaments on our Yule tree and before sunrise we turn the ornaments to the sun side. In the evening we turn all the lights out and sit in the dark for some time meditating on the year past and then we run around the entire house ringing a bell and turning on all the lights to welcome the light. You can also just light candles but you want it bright! We do a complete house clean before Yule and on the evening of Yule we sweep out the old energy from inside the house to outside. We also started a new tradition of leaving a small amount of items we think symbolize what we wish to attract in the new year and as the sun rises we bring those items inside the house so that the first things to enter our home is the intentions we have for the new year. Yule is one of my favorite celebrations!

To be honest, I miss christmas from when I was a kid. There was snow everywhere, my sisters and I would go Sledging and the whole house was decoratet. Now the magic is kinda gone, with the weather looking like a cold and wet autumn, almost up to no decorations and opening your christmas calendar has become not as awesome as before. I really miss the old Christmas feeling
I celebrate Norse pagan Yule. I recognize the winter solstice and trying to keep physical and emotional light/warmth throughout the winter. But I also honor my god, Odin and my goddess, Nyx especially strongly around this time. I observe the stories of the Yule goat, Odin riding Sleipnir, Baba Yaga, etc. I connect with the correspondences of the herbs, stones, and decorations of the seasons and use it as a time of rest and rejuvenation. I use the time to really connect to my Norse pagan roots and try to reconnect with family energies and bonds.

A tradition I newly found for myself is preparing a cup of Salep and cosy up with classic music. Salep is a Turkish drink that is sweet, thick and can only be drank hot. I didn't know it until I visited Istanbul in winter and I was so happy to discover it that I carried it with me back home.

Have been spending the last few evenings watching past videos- just got home from teaching, to learn from you. Today my tea is chamomile vanilla with some local cream honey with elderberries. Thank you for your videos
Best gift of all "Your Time". Spend time with those who you rarely see. I can't emphasize how important that is. Those in hospitals ( mental, drug, older folks, etc ). That's what this time of the season is for, to spend time with others.
Your theory about SAD honestly makes me feel a little better. I was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia this month, and I've noticed as it's gotten colder/darker, my fatigue symptoms have gotten much worse. While I definitely feel that my condition is absolutely medical and needs medical treatment etc, I do sometimes think that different kinds of energies can have an impact on my physical symptoms. I sleep very late into the morning these days, which I hate because I feel this desperate need to be productive (overcompensating for the limitations of my disability, I suspect), and I wonder if it's my body and the seasons trying to tell me to chill tf out.
Your videos, message, presence, aesthetic makes me feel so calm and comforted. I love watching your videos. I hope you enjoy the solstice and Yule season!
Ughhh I completely agree with the way you spoke about the hustle and bustle of how the world is now I think about it very often I hate running on a clock this is the time to get up this is the time for this and that blahhh 😩 I prefer to do things when I feel them like hungry .. have lunch, it’s dark ...go to sleep.. it’s light ..get busy doing things I think I heard recently that humans were designed to nap I can’t remember where but i guess that’s why I always feel a lot better if I can grab a nap during the afternoon 😂 I understand nowadays it’s hard to live like this but I also think a lot more people are waking up to the feelings like ... why why am I doing this to myself and living like this when I would be a lot happier with less stuff and more freedom 💚💚
Hey Olivia! Just wanted wish you a happy holiday season and say thank you for everything. You're definitely an inspiration, and your energy is intoxicating. I appreciate all you do for us. But, don't forget to take time out for YOU. Blessed be!

The Witch Of Wonderlust No worries! I was just adding/informing. I don’t expect you to know everything about everything! The Danes and Norwegians celebrate Lucia very similarly, while the Swedes have some different aspects to their celebration. I believe it’s also celebrated at least in parts of Italy, along with a few more of the Northern European countries. But otherwise it’s not a very common tradition. I think you would find it quite interesting, though, to look into the potential alternative origins of the tradition, both Christian and pagan. To name a few, a belief was that Lussinata - a witch and/or she-devil - would come down from the hills on the 13th until Yule and severely punish anyone and everyone who hadn’t finished certain chores and obligations before this time. With her she had her following of spirit/she-devils called the Lussiferda. The sorta resembles the Saint Lucia tradition of one Lucia bride leading a following Lucia girls. Between the return of Lussinata and Yule it was also believed that trolls, evil spirits, spirits of the dead, and other undergroundlings were able to roam free. Other theories suggest that a similar celebration was held in honor of deities like Sunna (Norse goddess of the sun). And as a final example, some areas of the Lucia celebrating lands don’t - or at least didn’t in older Christian times - celebrate Saint Lucia’s day as it was believed to be a false celebration that in reality was for Lucifer in disguise or for Lilith (in part because of the similarities in the names). 😊
Love from China !!!! We celebrate winter solstice by having ‘dongzhi’, it’s one of the most important day of our rich tradition in celebrating seasons and the changes. We Chinese do enjoy food, we make special foods for like literally every holiday and celebrations, lol.
The Witch Of Wonderlust today is actually Dongzhi, in where I live right now! My family held a get together, but I don’t get to enjoy the winter-y feel cuz I live in the very south hahaha
Love your videos and would really like to know where i can get a copy of your little cup of magic. Thanks for all your hard work and have a wonderful winter solstice.
I experience a lot of disconnect around Christmas time because I live in the southern hemisphere and Christmas happens at the same time as the summer solstice. It feels so wrong to be celebrating all these winter traditions in the heat - not to mention that it's so much harder to slip my pagan celebrations into my family's traditional ones. I often wonder how much more I'd enjoy this time of year if I lived in a country where it coincided with yule...
My birthday actually happens over the winter solstice! (Dec 21) I always wondered if that meant anything spiritually special hehe. What do you think Olivia?
I bet you're super shadowy deep! Haha, I'm told doing rituals and spells on your birthday or when the sun or moon is in your sign it boosts the spellwork!
I'm making little plans for my first Winter Solstice celebration. We'll be making mini Yule logs (since I don't have a fire place), writing out things we're proud of and things we want to leave behind this year, lighting candles, and enjoying good company :)
This was such a good video! If you are wanting a great book to read about the different months and ways to celebrating each sabbat and month, I highly recommend "Hedge Witch Book of Days by Mandy Mitchell". This is one of my utmost favourites!
Very interesting to hear people talk about seasons and how different countries have similar rituals around them. A winter solstice in my country would be just any other day, so we dont have any rituals like those. Just another Tuesday or something lol. At most we have our harvest festivals (no such thing as summer). Thats about it. Planting all year round. No winter, no spring, no summer, no fall. No samhain (?) And such.
Ohhh you are so great !!! I wanted to ask you how can i ACTIVATE the silver ring of witchcraft that I made, with an inner HIDDEN space for MANDRAGORA. I want to literally bind it with me and my protection!!
oh... I never connected the "Bûche" (the Log Cake that you can eat) with the actual Yule Log tradition... somehow that makes so much sense, it hurts that I never saw it until you mentioned it ^^"
We celebrate Christmas and Yule in our house. If you ever get the chance, read "Yule" by Llewellyn. They are small books that describe what the celebration is about, it's got recipes and spells. They have a book for each Pagan holiday and they are such good books. They also are very inexpensive, highly recommend if you get the chance! Thank you again for your videos, I always look forward to them, Blessed Be ❤️❤️❤️!!!
i leave in a very hot country and when the seasons change it basically dont appear much different characteristics and i feel it would be easier to connect with the seasons if they were more apparent. what do you think?
My housemate was asking if we wanted to try doing a Yule Log this year. I think he'll be even more interested in it if I tell him it involves whisky. lol Thanks a mil. there was a lot in this video.
GOT to check out Caley's Apothecary website (based on Clapham High Street London). THE best tea. The sleep tea REALLY works ( I promise). Don't know if they ship internationally though ☹️ might do?
It's a little more obvious when you decorate the house for the winter solstice in the southern hemisphere sis 😂 *makes house look very christmassy in red, candles, acorns, Yule logs, etc* Everyone entering my home: "what are you doing? Christmas is in 6 months..."
Hmmm....journaling is a good idea...especially writing down your thoughts and also about people...I've been thinking of doing that lately...noticing people around me, just observing them and writing down anything that might be interesting... you never know what information might be useful...lot of patterns reveal a lot of things...information is always useful right..hashana Anyway, great video...although I think this might be an old one..
Are you a new witch. ? And how long have you been practicing I've been practicing for 8 months now so got a lot to learn. I used to love stargirl she was my favor and she was my first watch
Small traditions made with parents are sweet. I'm not sure if anyone's asked you this before in the past, but as an Australian, would it be weird for me to have things for Yule, despite being the winter solstice, in the summer, since Yule/Christmas in the Southern Hemisphere is in our summer. It gets really confusing for me, because my months are the opposite of the Northern Hemisphere, and everyone's preparing for Yule (or Christmas, depending on who) and, yeah, I'm really confused what to do and I was wondering if you could help?
Ah yes! You can celebrate Beltane or the Summer Solstice! I don't know much about Beltane but I bet if you DMed Mystic Dylan he might have some ideas for you!
Hey it's really cool that the last photo you showed on here, from Icktorias.secret (my girlfriend) Is of our christmas ornaments! I was surprised to see that pop up, and she got to see it too, very nice! Thanks!
Lucia in Sweden is not the equivalent of winter solstice celebrations, and it's also derrived from when christianity forced itself into the country (Lucia is a christian saint and martyr). The oldest winter solstice celebration in scandinavia is known as Midvinterblot, from the vikings. And before christianity we celebrated Jul, a more pagan-like christmas :-) I celebrate both midvinterblot and jul, as they are not quite the same or on the same date
You can! Most practitioners do. It's really just a book to keep everything in, but Wiccans use the term "Book of Shadows", where as I've had practitioners call it whatever they please.
Lucia isn't connected to the winter solstice, but a lovely tradition non the less. It's Christian and comes from Italy originally, but I'm sure we've changed plenty of it by now. We celebrate jul at the winter solstice, this is a pagan tradition that's been celebrated in similar ways as far back as the viking age.

Aww, you featured my Instagram post. Thank you, love! Love your videos! Happy solstice!
Wishing you all the best on this Winter Solstice 2019.
“I’m dyslexic and I’m stressed” me too honey.... me too
This was such a good video! If you are wanting a great book to read about the different months and ways to celebrating each sabbat and month, I highly recommend "Hedge Witch Book of Days by Mandy Mitchell". This is one of my utmost favourites!
I found that tea a few weeks ago & it's SO good I love it
Very interesting to hear people talk about seasons and how different countries have similar rituals around them.
Thank you Olivia I've been waiting for this one yeah, I love the start of your videos too so very pretty 😊🖤
you're makeup is so pretty!
DAMN THOSE CLAVICLES!!
Thank you Olivia. Hope you have a wonderful trip.. Enjoy being with your boyfriend. Love from Los Angeles.

When you were talking about your tea I smelled it and tasted it . Lol I love that tea so much 😜
Lovely video. Could you add in those tutorials though? I'm looking forward to those bird feeder wreaths!
Thank you for this i really enjoyed learning more about solstice and as always your editing is stunning
Thank you! All my stock footage saved me haha
I just barely got the info on Saturday's solstice. Sounds great!
Olivia can you make more spell videos pls
Ohhh you are so great !!!
I wanted to ask you how can i ACTIVATE the silver ring of witchcraft that I made, with an inner HIDDEN space for MANDRAGORA. I want to literally bind it with me and my protection!!
Little sister cosmicly speaking) you rock, and thank you again
I was the same with log but I made mine into a tealight holder so the candles would be burnt instead
My housemate was asking if we wanted to try doing a Yule Log this year. I think he'll be even more interested in it if I tell him it involves whisky. lol Thanks a mil. there was a lot in this video.
Lol your roommate and I have that in common
GOT to check out Caley's Apothecary website (based on Clapham High Street London). THE best tea. The sleep tea REALLY works ( I promise). Don't know if they ship internationally though ☹️ might do?
It's a little more obvious when you decorate the house for the winter solstice in the southern hemisphere sis 😂 *makes house look very christmassy in red, candles, acorns, Yule logs, etc* Everyone entering my home: "what are you doing? Christmas is in 6 months..."
Treat tips!
Hmmm....journaling is a good idea...especially writing down your thoughts and also about people...I've been thinking of doing that lately...noticing people around me, just observing them and writing down anything that might be interesting... you never know what information might be useful...lot of patterns reveal a lot of things...information is always useful right..hashana
Anyway, great video...although I think this might be an old one..
Are you a new witch. ? And how long have you been practicing I've been practicing for 8 months now so got a lot to learn. I used to love stargirl she was my favor and she was my first watch
random question: has anyone here heard of sinterklaas?
I don't like the fruit cakes either. Your making me laugh☺.
Omgerd i have you threw my car speaker bc i jist walked outta work! Eeeeeee
where in colorado are you from if you don’t mind me asking? i’m from fort collins!
Thanks!
Heyyyyyyy oliviaaaa
Lucia in Sweden is not the equivalent of winter solstice celebrations, and it's also derrived from when christianity forced itself into the country (Lucia is a christian saint and martyr). The oldest winter solstice celebration in scandinavia is known as Midvinterblot, from the vikings. And before christianity we celebrated Jul, a more pagan-like christmas :-) I celebrate both midvinterblot and jul, as they are not quite the same or on the same date
I know this question isn’t related to the video that much but can you still have a book of shadows/grimoire if you aren’t Wiccan?
Ima yule log my heater lol
Hi Ramesh Waghmare from India speech on "kaal sarp"in my life

This isn’t cool or witchy, but on the winter solstice, I start adding vitamin D to my vitamin regimen until mid-February. 💊
