    I just want to know what person at the Sesame Street company looked at the bank that they were honouring with a fake award and went "You know who should be within 100 miles of this building when we do this? John Oliver" because either that person is blissfully innocent and must be protected at all costs or is an agent of chaos and needs to be feared and respected because they can create problems wherever they go!

      Critical thinking involves the process of listening to someone else, understanding what they say or do and then providing critical thought as to why that person behaves as they do...whether you agree with them or not.
      You cannot wave the notion of critical thinking around whilst being so close minded and not employing it yourself.

    That's like ppl telling a homeless person on the street, "at least you don't have mortgage payments." Good intentions? Perhaps. Wrong time, wrong place to say that? Definitely.

    • @icantollie
      @icantollie 7 месяцев назад

      That actually happened. Ivanka Trump related in an interview how she and her dad once walked by a homeless person and her dad said, you know, that guy is so much better off than me, because he owes nothing (this is when Donald Trump had racked up debts from the failure of some of his business ventures)

    Shame on Sesame street for not standing up and cheering the truth. They need to apologize to John and do a whole show about not ignoring the truth for the almighty dollar.

      I suspect Sesame Street characters weren't doing the booing. The audience in these places is usually all rich people.

      I bet there were at least a few people atthe Sesame street event, maybe more toward the back of the room, or maybe backstage, who were either nodding grimly in agreement or trying to be silent as they slapped their knees laughing in hilarity at his comments and chuckled periodically the whole way home. At least I sure hope there were.

    I don't know the full context, but Bank of America being "built on kindness" could be referring to the founder of its founder, Amadeo Giannini, who started one of the first banks catering to immigrants. He freely gave out loans after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, allowing the city to rebuild.
