I have been a Yankee Candle fan for over 20 years and still get them mainly from the outlet nearby and once a year at South Deerfield. My teenager really enjoys them as well so that is a plus.

The Pumpkin Banana Scone in the signature line is phenomenal! I got good strength and throw from it and the scent was so good! I have found that their signature collection in general is so much better than any of their stuff in the last 10 years.

I have fond memories of my mom going to the Yankee flagship store in New England when she was visiting our East coast relatives and bringing me back a selection of goodies from that store. I also love Cranberry Chutney and have a few older jars that I plan to crock this holiday season.

I was a Yankee girl in the late 90's-early 2000's. They used to be amazing. I always had a Christmas cookie on deck as well as Buttercream. But I haven't bought them for years for the reasons you stated. They hardly smell at all which is sad, and I'm not really a fan of the country jars in general

I’ve had a great experience with Yankee’s Signature Collection. Good, fairly strong throw, clean burn, wicks that nearly take care of themselves. Loving Mango Ice Cream this summer 🥭 and have a Farm Fresh Peach 🍑 up next. Agree with the others that Pumpkin Banana Scone is next level! I do not purchase the old apothecary jars as they don’t perform nearly as well and last so long (I can’t put them away partly burned!), but do appreciate the Signature jar style that’s an homage to the original. The closest retail store is 2 hours from me, so I shop for them at Kohl’s, Bed, Bath and Beyond, and online if I’m feeling pretty sure I’ll like something.

So much sadness. It was my place, my product, my happiness every sale or new release. Different scents remind me of dates with Dave when we were kids, being newly married, having each baby, new homes. At our local store (now gone), all the employees knew my kids names when they were toddlers/preschoolers. I used to buy insane amounts every month, now buy 2 to 5 a year. It got to the point lighting 4 jars through the house was still scentless. I love the beachy Catching Rays for a cleaning day in the warmer months. I did buy 2 in the new jars, with a 6 pack of melts. I lit one with 3 melts and it fills the whole first floor and hall upstairs, and I saw a glimmer of hope. I actually got teary eyed over that glimmer of hope to which my sons said, "You're weird". 😂

Back in the 90’s I was a manager at a candle store when I was going to college. Yankee and Colonial Candle was some of our main lines. I remember Home Sweet Home was a wonderful scent. However, once I graduated college I got out of the candle scene for quite a while. When I got back into candles I wasn’t interested in Yankee and never looked back.

I share in your memories of Yankee Candle - It was my first purchase in my early early years of marriage in the 90's - we would go to another city to shop and on each visit would buy a large YC Country and would burn on the weekends. I remember the soot on the ceiling but man oh man would the scent travel!!

Hi Melanie, YC was also my first candle company and I stuck with them exclusively for years! Up until probably 2019 and I just couldn't take it anymore. The quality and selection just isn't there anymore and the price continued to go up with very limited deals. I still give them the benefit of the doubt sometimes hoping for a comeback. I still purchase pineapple cilantro, sparkling Cinnamon, and cranberry chutney. I used to love Spiced pumpkin but the last one I burned barely threw. Macintosh isn't even strong anymore.

Hearing your experiences with Yankee Candles brought back a lot of great memories. My wife was a big fan and like you moved on. Regardless, that so many good memories of my past revolve around her use of Yankee Candles back in the day, I've a bit of affection for the brand, even though we don't buy from them.

Melanie, if you can’t find Cranberry Chutney, I found a Cranberry Chutney classic full label 22 oz candle on eBay for $24 with free shipping! That’s a good deal, IMO. There are several others listed. YC full labels are the only ones in my collection (don’t care for the keyhole labels). Let me know if I can send you one. 🍁

Oh Yankee Candle... my first candle love. A few years ago, when I pulled out my beloved Buttercream, Pumpkin Buttercream, and Banana Nut Bread candles and literally smelled NOTHING when they were burning - I mean come on, Buttercream was a known powerhouse! - I knew something was wrong. I too have cut back on buying from them to barely at all. I very recently ordered their Orange Dreamsicle and Berrylicious large jars because I was curious if there had been any improvement. Well, I burned, warmed, and crocked the Orange Dreamsicle and could not smell it AT ALL, even when sitting right next to it. I finally gave up on it and tossed it. Haven't tried the Berrylicious yet, but I'm not expecting much.
I echo others in that I've had some good results with some of their soy-blend Signature line with the two wicks. My favorite is definitely the Pumpkin Banana Scone, as others have mentioned here. Also really enjoy Tangerine & Vanilla and Honey Clementine, among a few others - especially holiday scents. Did not get good performance from Coconut Beach, which was disappointing. Recently tried their 5-wick candle due to a really good sale. They smell nice, but IMO, they are a waste of money - I think I got maybe 4 or 5 burns out of them, if that, and that was only allowing them to burn like 2 hours at a time. Nice concept with the wider mouth, but they need to be deeper!

      @MrKongsMom  2 года назад

I am glad to hear the new line is performing a bit better. I will for sure pick up my chutney in that formula when I pick it up this Fall. I had no idea they had a 5 wick out now!

Hi Melanie, I started my candle obsession with Yankee in the early 2010’s, but when Woodwick took over, it went downhill from there. My favorite scents disappeared (Fluffy Towels & Soft Blanket) & then the great deals @ SAS ( 6 for $60 for the large classic jars/tumblers, $1 melts, etc.) By that time I had gotten into BBW, my fresh nose turned into fruity, and in addition to BBW have been introduced to other companies. SAS purchases at Yankee went from boarder line hoarding to absolutely nothing this year. I also still have some classic jars & the year of pour is the first two vertical numbers on the bottom. Always enjoy watching your videos!

Thanks for sharing your Yankee Candles. My favorite YC scent of all time is Pumpkin Wreath! 🎃 I have 2 large jars & 2 large tumblers left. I share your good memories of discovering & enjoying many Yankee Candles, as well your sentiments about the way the company has gone. I don’t have any stores near me (was one 3 hrs round trip drive, closed). About 8 years ago, I had an out of control collection that included 100 large jars.😳 I only have 30 left, which I rarely burn. I sold several on eBay for decent prices. While watching your collection videos, I was reminded to list about 20 more on eBay, where I’ve had positive experiences as a buyer & seller. My other YC fave is Macintosh & Peach.🍎🍑 You inspired me to purchase Cranberry Chutney, which I received recently with a broken lid. Luckily I have extra lids.😌My infrequent YC purchases are Fragrances Spheres for my closets-when they’re on sale for 1/2 off ($3). (BTW: The pour date is the first 2 numbers of the sideways numbers on bottom.) Thanks again for taking the time to share your candle collections. 🍀

The Yankee Candle Iced Berry Lemonade and Honey Clementine scented candles are nice and strong smelling. I have over 100 Yankee Candles in my collection that I started beck in 2011 along with a lot of tarts. I've been burning through my collection over the past 3 months, and I will literally burn a 22 oz. Yankee Candle, if I really love the scent, for 2 to 3 days straight, until it's gone now!!! 🤣 I prefer their Scent Pugs now, because they last longer, like a month, but, they don't have every scent available in the Scent Plugs.

Wow! Your collection is so tiny now for YC. I remember years ago you compared a Walmart BHG candle to pumpkin wreath - I can see the image in my mind but can't remember the name. Loved it and helped me save some $$. Also never got to get a full size sugared apple but I did have a few of the tarts - that scent was delicious! Very sad I found that one too late in the game. My first YC I think I ever tried was Pink Sands (around 2008?)- loved it for summer!! And for fall/winter loved their autumn leaves, autumn wreath, cranberry chutney, apple pumpkin, balsam & cedar, Macintosh.
My YC stash is not as small but I really want to work through a lot of them this fall/winter - my mom gifted me so many when she would find deals at marshalls/ross. I was just using YC Cappuccino this morning in my candle lamp. Candle crock and candle lamp is how I'll be working on them mainly. I can't with the soot and most of my YC are the paraffin wax.

I burned Pumpkin Banana Scone last year and the throw was amazing. The Mango Ice Cream one on cold scent is great as well yet when burned it smelled like plastic with mango. That's a bad first impression. Won't be re-purchasing it. I am currently burning Yankee's Simply Home line of Sage & Sea Salt and it has a light throw yet strong up close. Simply Home line is really hard to find yet Ross early last year had Sun Kissed Leaves and Oceanside Orchid which I burned. The throw on them was good. Unfortunately, the Yankee store in my city at the mall closed a while back, so I still go to stores like Ross, T.J. Maxx, Bed, Bath, And Beyond, Kohl's, Walmart, Big Lots! (they have outlet ones), and Tuesday Morning (they did have Yankee the past few years, but now have Goose Creek). Mel, if you do have a Big Lots! store in your area, I highly suggest you go there to find Yankee candles. They have had these scents this year: Gentle Rain, Relaxing Lavender (dupe for Lemon Lavender), Fresh Mandarin, Coconut Milk, Sunny Lemon, Sage, Lavender & Herbs, Avocado & Citrus (dupe for Fresh Lime & Avocado), Beautiful Bloom, Banana & Vanilla Smoothie (highly recommend), Sand & Surf, Moonlight (dupe for Midsummer's Night), Island Cooler (dupe for Bahama Breeze), Sunset Lavender & Vanilla (dupe for Lavender Vanilla yet sweeter), Salty Sea (love this one), Pink Jasmine & Vanilla, Fresh Cotton Blossom (new outlet one with a daisy flower on top of clean folded towels), and Pink Sweet Pea. I'm waiting for their Autumn line. I've been an avid Yankee Candle store fan since sometime in 2018. I don't purchase candles online for obvious reasons. The closest store to me is their outlet towards the bay area. Few of their Holiday scents from a few years ago at Big Lots: Pine, Sugar & Pumpkin Spice, Pumpkin Apple Muffin, Farm Fresh Pumpkins, Pumpkin, Harvest Pumpkins, Cookie Swap, Birch Wood, Cranberry, Christmas Apple Spice, Pumpkin Spice & Cinnamon, Pumpkin Bundt Cake (interesting one), Spiced Apple & Maple, Gingerbread & Cinnamon, Winter Berries, Fresh Berry Fizz, and Winter Forest. I have at least 100 Yankee candles and choosing which ones to burn during the holidays is quite a feat. Sorry I went off on a tangent, i don't mind Yankee scents to be thrown light, medium, or strong. I like both paraffin and soy wax. Harvest Pumpkins in a large tumbler from Ross will be the first Autumn candle to burn. Oh, btw, Big Lots has the candles in the apothecary Large Jars.

My local Yankee Candle store closed in 2017. The nearest one now is 25 minutes away, but they have such inconvenient hours (open at 11 AM) I just don't go there. The candles are basically scentless but i liked the accessories. It's so sad how downhill that company went. Some of their old scents were so great - I loved Sugared Apple and many more - of course they discontinue the good ones but keep some of the regulars that I can't stand. TFS

My Yankee candle large jars just burn so badly, even with an illumalid. They take forever (like 7 hours +) to pool out and many of them don't pool out at all, especially in winter. There is no doubt in my mind that a large jar like Yankee uses needs 2 wicks. People have been crying out for 2 wicks for years and years, but Yankee just ignores that. It's one of the things that bothers me the most about Yankee - why don't they listen to their customers? People want more scent, and better burn (i.e. 2 -wicks in the candles). I'm based outside of the US and in my country we only get the Yankee jars that are manufactured in Europe, meaning that we don't get the 2-wick signature jars at all. We are stuck with the single wick large jars which are just total duds. Also, my favorite Yankee range, being the Elevation range has been discontinued, and my mind boggles about that. The Elevation candles had the best throw (not strong, but definitely better than the single wick large jars) and the scents were beautiful. And so of course Yankee cancel's that range. I just can't with that company, seriously. They just irritate me too much, and they are totally dismissive of their customers and of what people want. I decided a few months ago that I won't be buying any more Yankees until (and if) we get the signature jars. I'm completely done with Yankee now. Their candles are just rubbish. I'm only buying Kringle from hereon out.

I have just had such bad luck with them that I don't know if it's even worth risking it. I have so many candles already that adding more that I have had bad luck with is probably not a great idea. I will probably always get Cranberry Chutney in some format however because that is a staple for me. Even if it performs badly lol.

I also have a lot of sadness over Yankee’s decline. I am very nostalgic about Midsummer’s Night. It was the first fragrance I smelled from them in the nineties. It was at a garden center back in Delaware where I grew up. My kids were little and it just brings me back to that time. I was reintroduced to them by Shane and was excited to buy them again. Now I only buy Halloween from them. I have to say I love their accessories. I have a small no burn collection of retired scents like 2x4 and Schnitzel with Noodles ( sent one to Shane) . If they improve I would consider buying, but I will definitely pick up a Cranberry Chutney on your recommendation!

I like the woodwick candles better than the original line.

I am curious how you put out your candles? I love candles but then when it's time to put them out the house just fills with the soot smell and basically wastes the fragrance in the rooms.

Hi :-) I just dip the wick into the wax. Not sure, if you're supposed to do it this way but it seems to work for me. :)

Personally I blow mine out, but the dipping is really the best method. They actually make dippers you can purchase lol.

@@MrKongsMom Interesting. Never heard of dippers. I'll look into that, thanks.
