- Steve Wilkos will hold his most recent memory of late friend and mentor Jerry Springer close to his heart. The "Steve Wilkos Show" host spoke exclusively with Access Hollywood following the death of the talk show icon on Thursday and reflected on the last time they'd seen each other and why the conversation has so much more meaning to him now. "We reflected a lot and we shared a lot of old stories and he embraced me in a way that he'd never really embraced me. He gave me a hug and was telling me he loved me. I think he knew he was sick. I didn't even know he was sick until this morning because he looked the same to me," Wilkos continued. "I knew there was something off, but I certainly didn't know he had a terminal illness, or whatever he had. I think this was his way of saying goodbye to me."

This is like Steve losing his second father. He gave him his career and we all know how close these two were. Jerry will always be with us and when you hear loud claps of thunder, that's God laughing at his new show up in heaven. Rest in power Jerry. And in his infamous words, "Take care of yourself, and each other!"

One of my closest friends growing up visited me the day before he passed away, we did the same he was around longer than usual, we went down memory lane & had made plans for that night - that fell through bc I got off too late & the next morning I woke up to him being on life support from a car accident & I never got to see him again but I’ll remember that last conversation & that hug. 😭❤️ idk if people mean to say goodbye without saying it but it definitely happens. Truly heartbreaking, Steve & jerry was a huge part of my growing up. Such great men❤ may he rest in peace

Sorry for your loss same thing happened to me on Easter Sunday a few weeks ago..one of my favorite friend who was more like a sister wanted her hair done..but she had just got it done 2 weeks prior with braids..when I seen her she had taken out her braids and just wanted me to wash her natural hair( she never wore her natural hair) I told her how beautiful she looked and the next day ( Easter Sunday) her brother called me and said her husband found her passed away in her sleep that afternoon..she woke up at 9 am laid back down and he found her a few hrs later unresponsive it broke my ♥ tremendously..I'm still in disbelief she didn't smoke or drink or do drugs ..I'm thinking she started taking a weight loss pill and it could have made her have a heart attack??? She was only 35 yrs old 😢 it's been a rough few weeks..I miss her so much 😢 😢

As soon as I learned he passed...I thought of you Steve...I have seen your career start with him to having your own show and beyond...In all the crazy many of our childhoods and early adulthood was affected by his show...even being at Grandma house. RIP man😢 hang in there Jerry fam.

Steve Wilkos, thank you for your kind and beautiful words about Jerry and my condolences to you as well. Jerry truly was a very funny, kind and good hearted man. His heart was on the right place, especially for others. I can remember the times where I would laugh at his humor and jokes during certain shows, but also respecting him for his patience he had with people slinging so much dirt at him, or me sitting at the edge of my seat when Jerry almost attacked someone. That part I will never forget. The show has always stuck by me, from the annoying KKK clan coming on the show pissing me off, to the most hilarious situations, Steve Jumping in during fights, or the bodyguard walking on his hands. It truly was a mix of humor, annoyance, tensity, chaos, sadness and shock. But it was something that was never and never will be forgotten. Jerry might not be with us anymore and the show and all of it's glory is now just a memory, but the memory, and most importantly Jerry, who has brought us all so much joy, entertainment and laughs, will never be forgotten.

Gonna miss Jerry. I haven't watched his show since I was a kid in the late 90's. Now I've been binge watching re-runs and forgot how hilarious and addicting that show was. I think because he was such a nice guy and had a genuine heart, adults looked up to him and that gave us a free pass to watch his show.

That’s how it felt with my dad, before he passed in the hospital. He wanted to see me and catch up. When I visited him I knew he wasn’t going to make it. He never told me he had cancer or he was sick. He didnt want to overwhelm me being a new mom. It felt like a goodbye. The next day he passed. The day he wanted to see me I was going though mental health issues , but I didn’t see my dad often. I would have felt guilty not seeing him then he passed. Rip Jerry Springer 😢

Jerry was actually the true first reality show in his own right, he brought the different types of people to the screen and the problems that existed amongst is guests, he opened the world's eyes to all that exists out there with people, and through his guests and they show he taught us how to be better people his reruns will always be funny, informative, and educational. Is that the show Judge Jerry was equally as great. He will be missed for his laughter his humor, and above all his kindness to all that he met.

I will never forget being at work at the firehouse in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. I was the young guy at the time and introduced Jerry to those old salty guys that were soon to retire. EVERY shift we would watch Jerry on TV and had the most fun!! The show was total insanity and watching those guys on my truck laughing so hard with tears coming out was the best times ever!!!!! Man I miss those days!!! And I miss those guys who are now gone. Jerry Springer was the best!!❤
