At this point I genuinely think some kind of b-team designed these changes. The fact that arcsys would go back on something that they've outright endorsed, let stay in the game for 3 whole seasons, and never mentioned as a problem, and in compensation give him the most surface-level buff a grappler could ever have just doesn't seem like them.

I'm not usually one to doom or whine, but this loss really does make me sad. Biggest losses are imo kbmf and heat knuckle kara. Former because optimal and latter because funny.
I don't quite know how to get over these feeling myself. After so much time and only recently acquiring the input skill to do karas on garuda and buster. I feel void.
They still will be possible with the new cancel because 6K will cause potemkin to have increased momentum AFTER the startup, which looks like it will still transfer to canceled moves. You still get bmf loops but they will be noticeably worse

One of the great characteristics that allowed us to distinguish the most veteran and dedicated to the character from those who are not, is gone. It may have been the great wall to overcome for some, which even made them look for alternatives, whether of game or character, but at the end of that mountain that opened new horizons, and the satisfaction of having achieved and advanced beyond, was one of the great rewards that many of us enjoyed. That mountain may not be there now, but that does not prevent new frontiers from being discovered. With all hope for tomorrow. Goodbye Kara Cancells.

I doubt it. Walking back a change like this in any fighting game sounds unheard of and a lot of other characters were also fundamentally changed. It's best to try and think of it like a new game at season 1 because the potemkin of tomorrow just isint the potemkin of the past 4 years.

I never managed to learn garuda and BMF karas, but learning how to do kara pot buster round start was a HUGE milestone in my fighting game journey. Sad to see it go, but I'm still curious to see where things go from here.

Pot buster has higher range standard now, increased damage, and a lot of our other abilities got reworked in conjunction with it. It's not a nerf, it's a rework. A lot of characters seem to be getting them this patch.

Potemkin was the first fighting game character i ever properly learned how to play. I learned all the kara cancels, i even did kara cancels when i didnt have to, i learned all the combos, i got up to celestial multiple times. I cant even begin to imagine how potemkin will work now. Im gonna miss hammerfall cancel into heavenly so much.
I'm glad to be a part of the kara cancelling era although not long it was a fun and harsh journey going in lab to master it and took it into the tower, a new era of pot bust begin now. RIP kara cancel
In all honesty, it's such a terrible, terrible feeling deep in a heart, knowing that all your hard work labing kBMF combos and generally kara cancel inputs is just flushed down the drain. All the training, learning, training even more, getting a consistency on the combos...and then boom. Everything thrown in a trash pit. Kara cancel was the reason I started maining pot. What a terrible day for rain.
It's funny because at the same time they're also making it convoluted in other areas. It truly feels like there's too many cooks in the kitchen with some of these patches.
@@SmoothieGamesLambda I'm honestly shocked that they didn't rework sin, he's brainded easy to use (he's one of my mains) and the point of their update to him was to make him manage his resources better but yet they don't rework his 63214P. It should be mandatory for him to use the move and they should just map 2 or 3 choices to different buttons. Want health or tension? 63214HS. want stamina? 63214P. Want a status effect? 63214K. All they'd have to do is adjust his damage along with some other frame data to be lower and buff the status effects so that not every single variable is random! There should not be a buff that lasts for a literal 2 seconds after active because by the time you recover the buff is already gone. The only way i could see that being justifiable is if they attach a timer to the tension and health recovery items. If they wanna be mean about it they can do the same for the stamina as well. I'm convinced they'll do it next patch. It would be the closest thing to xrd sin
@ I haven’t had a lot of time to play recently or look at the notes. I’dsay our big nerf was when bomber loops got less optimal and rainwater loops really started up, but even then you could still do bomber loops for sure.
Just came back home from a shitty day at work on top of finding out all my friends went to halloween parties without me all week. Just to find out my favorite charcter in my second favorite fighting game was nuttered to fit the casual audience. Cant wait to see whats for Christmas!

Mainly been a lurker on the Potcord, but my Pot journey started with finding your channel. Learned a lot and spent so many days ruining my thumbs practicing Karas on my gamepad. Pot can now do floor 7 combos only, at least when scrolling through what people posted on some discords so far. The removed all of Potemkins depth and changed him so 6H is his main tool now for hammerfall break loops that are supbar in comparison to what we had in rev 2.
I was never able to do them consistently, but I hate that it's gone. It was cool to get a kara move out when I could and seeing what others could do with the technique was always fun.
This game won't ever be the same without being able to lab kbmf, round start kara busters, or anti-airing with kara heat knuckle. I may not be a great Pot but man I felt great pulling those off mid-match. Never will you be a forgotten memory, kara Pot, but a happily cherished and sorely missed one. o7
Yet another reason I hate how modern updates completely remove all traces of the old balance. I wish we could go back to a system like USFIV having every major character update available in local play.
I literally found out about these like 2 days ago because my friend said "Hey look at the mission mode sliding potemkin buster thing" and now... it's gone. I didn't even pull one off against him while I had the chance Edit: I jumped online and managed to pull off a kara cancel pot buster start of the match. And I started to see how cool these things can actually be with megafist. Goddammit arcsys this could've been so fun to learn
Man, I haven't played in more than a few months at this point. But I'm not sure I trust the developer to make a truly balanced adjustment to not just make this an overt, devastatingly large nerf for the people who have the technical ability to pull off some of these techniques.

I’ve never been a huge Strive fan but labbing these and your content always kept the game on my radar. I hope that you (and all Pot players) still have fun with the game and character.
Ram main here, my condolences on the loss. I legit couldn't believe what I was reading in the patch notes, I may not main Pot, but it was the Kara Pot Buster mission that helped me internalise the timings for fast cancels; and in turn this helped me start learning Ram rekka cancels. Truly a terrible day for rain.
Strive removing yet another aspect of skill expression is concerning. Sad to see more mechanical options getting gutted for the sake of "accessibility" and lowering the skill ceiling. You guys have my sympathies and hope you get something of equal value or greater in return.

roundstart bust might still be a thing *and be better* because of armor, depending on how much they extend the hitbox

This game won't ever be the same without being able to lab kbmf, round start kara busters, or anti-airing with kara heat knuckle. I may not be a great Pot but man I felt great pulling those off mid-match.
Never will you be a forgotten memory, kara Pot, but a happily cherished and sorely missed one.

Yet another reason I hate how modern updates completely remove all traces of the old balance. I wish we could go back to a system like USFIV having every major character update available in local play.

I literally found out about these like 2 days ago because my friend said "Hey look at the mission mode sliding potemkin buster thing" and now... it's gone. I didn't even pull one off against him while I had the chance
Edit: I jumped online and managed to pull off a kara cancel pot buster start of the match. And I started to see how cool these things can actually be with megafist.

Man, I haven't played in more than a few months at this point. But I'm not sure I trust the developer to make a truly balanced adjustment to not just make this an overt, devastatingly large nerf for the people who have the technical ability to pull off some of these techniques.
Also going to go ahead and say I am NOT one of those people. My ass cannot Kara Garuda or Kara backwards megafist to save my life.

This is one of those patches you just look on in disbelief and wonder why.
I’ve never been a huge Strive fan but labbing these and your content always kept the game on my radar. I hope that you (and all Pot players) still have fun with the game and character.
Ram main here, my condolences on the loss. I legit couldn't believe what I was reading in the patch notes, I may not main Pot, but it was the Kara Pot Buster mission that helped me internalise the timings for fast cancels; and in turn this helped me start learning Ram rekka cancels.

Strive removing yet another aspect of skill expression is concerning. Sad to see more mechanical options getting gutted for the sake of "accessibility" and lowering the skill ceiling. You guys have my sympathies and hope you get something of equal value or greater in return.
