Michael is a great cowboy poet and songwriter. Love his music. ❤❤❤❤❤
I hadn't heard this song in a very long time. Takes me back to my years in college. This version is STUNNING!
What a great live version. My tears are flowing.
One of my all time favorites. I can write an entire page about how this song makes me feel. This song touches my soul like no other. Makes me 😢. Pure perfection. 🌟 Still listening 2022 and for the rest of my life. ❤️
“Been a hoot-owl howling outside my window now Bout six nights in a row
She's coming for me, I know
And on Wildfire we're both gonna go” ……this is one of my very favorite song ever!!! Thank you so much for the great reaction!!❤️
❤️
"Michael Martin Murphey - What's Forever For" One of the greatest storytellers of this era~ my mom and I would sing this song together riding to deliver papers on the weekends. Great memories thanks 🤗💖🔥
This is my all time favorite song! As a child I was called “wild fire” because of my outrageous desire to run free.
It's so sweet when a song you love is appreciated by a new listener! I had the original and played it to it's demise. MMM is a true cowboy poet. Thanks for this extended version!
Such a great song. I've loved this song since I first heard it in 1975. This particular version was brilliant. The instrumentals before and after the singing were incredible.
I've watched this video well over 100 times in the last year. During the final instrumental, the guitar and piano play the exact same notes together perfectly. It gives me the chills every time.
Wonderful reaction as usual my friend.
I had this song as a 45 record when I was a child. I always loved horses & it made me cry. Til this day everytime I hear this song, I still shed some tears, just as I did as a young girl: ) I look forward to your reactions, you are my favorite reactor on you tube. If you enjoyed the story in this song, you would also enjoy “Shannon” by Henry Gross. Another one that brings back memories of childhood innocence & naivety
I'm right there with you. When I was young I couldn't listen to this because it broke my heart thinking about the poor horse being lost in a blizzard. Now I appreciate how beautiful the music is, but I still shed a few tears when I hear it. This live version is on my playlist so I hear it often & stop whatever I'm doing to listen everytime it comes on.
Estoy con ustedes. Primera vez que la escucho y estoy llorando de emoción. Está cancion es una obra atemporal
A few other songs of his worth hearing - "I'm Gonna Miss You, Girl", "What's Forever For?", and "A Long Line of Love."
oh I love "What's Forever For?" !
Carolina In The Pines.
I had a 45 (that is a record for the youth) of this song as a teenager, that I played over and over. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.
What an early monster crossover hit in 1975. It played on the radio for years. This was an 80s interpretation, stellar!
I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong I don’t remember ever hearing the long intro and the instrumentals at the end in the version of this song that was played on the radio which I think was a crime. This entire version should have been broadcast every time.
I agree. We never heard all the extras😐. Absolutely gorgeous💖
I'm pretty sure I remember hearing the ending instrumental.
@@mimomof2 You could be correct as it has been years since I have heard Wildfire. It was a favorite of mine because I love horses.
Correct ot on radio version, just on live appearances.
@@mimomof2 there was an instrumental opening but not this long, nor the outro. It was always cut for radio but I suspect he just did the extra stuff for the Live audience.
Neil Sedaka, huge and great performer from the 50s-early 80s. "Solitaire," ruclips.net/video/fULjbnrWn_k/видео.html
Beautiful singing and piano, accompanied by a partial orchestra (don't see/hear brass). "Laughter in the Rain" was a big hit. ruclips.net/video/MtIibcNDQ6o/видео.html
Hope you're having a nice evening!
Oh how this song, Wildfire, brings back so many teenage memories for me!
Carolina in the pines is also a great song of his.
Vince Gill was in Pure Prairie League as a youngster. I only really know their big hit, "Aimi (What You Gonna Do)." Great song! ruclips.net/video/IEhyOIwAlZw/видео.html
Also, :Let Me Love You Tonight,"
ruclips.net/video/4BgYbjlEKCg/видео.html
I have the album that includes this song. So glad you like him💖
"What's Forever For" is another great song.
yes!
Michael Martin Murphy 's 'What's Forever For' is responsible for my girlfriend and me getting back together after a breakup. We've since been married for 17 years.
Yaaaaay!💖
This song is a must!
Saw him perform twice in small venues and he autographed my cowboy boots each time...he got a kick out of it (pardon the pun). I still have those boots!❤️
Never knew the horse was magic. The song, of course, is.
This song puts you outside in the cold and lost, looking around and can't find your way back,Riding Wildfire forever with wind in your hair and sun shine in your face. I FEEL this song with Everything i am.Classics never die.
Love this song
You've been blessed by one of the best writers of our life time!
If you haven’t found Dan Fogelberg, you really should. He never put out a bad song. Leader of The Band, New Auld lang zine…. Just so many you can choose from. He left us way too soon.
❤️
Oh wow, you’re the first to react to this song as far as I know. So glad you did. It’s been many years since I’ve heard this. Nice to hear it again. Thanks!
I've been watching you for a while now and just wanted to say you do a great job with your reactions. Big fan here. This great song brings back so many memories of a better and simpler time in music. Thanks for reacting to it - and keep up the great work.
Thank you so much 😊
His voice is magic!
In 1975 my gf at the time had horses and we would ride together and I always thought of this song because it was in the radio play rotation at the time.
Thanks for letting me relive this little piece of time in my world.
I learned to play this on piano, shortly after it came out, then years later, played it for my babies.
I am a stroke patient, now, and as I listen, I remember riding through the desert as a young woman.
I will probably never ride or even play the piano, again, but one day I hope to be free.
In the mid 80s, we went to a SMALL restaurant in Atlanta that featured singers and comedians. The wonderful Michael Martin Murphy performed, but his opening act was a comedian.
He shared with us this was his last stop before he started filming a new TV show. "Home Improvement's" Tim Allen was that gentleman.
What a beautiful voice he has I used to hear this on radio in early 80’s
So happy with your reaction to this beautiful song. I was really hoping you would get the beauty of it and you did! How satisfying for your audience. And you didn’t miss anything, from the lovely piano, to the guitar solo at the end, to the singer’s beautiful voice. I’ve watched other reactors to this song, and believe it or not, one of them missed the mark entirely. How, I don’t know. I am so glad I watched your reaction afterwards! Love your channel! I just subscribed.
In my opinion, this is one of the all-time greatest songs I have ever heard, it reminds me of my youth
Agree with Ann Lawery and the replies to her post. I've seen Michael Martin Murphy many times; both with his Band tour and his Acoustic Guitar tour. Always fun. You should check out a tune called "London Homesick Blues." Gary P. Nunn wrote the song while in London helping Michael Martin Murphy record an Album.. There is a popular live youtube video with Gary P Nunn playing piano and singing "London Homesick Blues"with Jerry Jeff Walker. Note: Nunn became a member of Jerry Jeff's band after returning home from London. The song became the theme music to the Austin City Limits TV music show for 20 plus years. Some refer to it as "The Armadillo Song." Lol
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. Absolutely Love MMM, went to his music West-Fest music festival several times. "What's Forever For" is another of his massive number 1's.
Such a beautiful and soul calming song. Love your reactions. ✌🏻❤️
I had never heard this song before but wow what a fabulous piece of music..stunning ive watched it about 10 times now ...haunting
One of my favorite songs from the 70s!
I have absolutely loved this song since it came out way back when. I’ve never heard it with the piano intro…..which I could do without. Thanks for the reaction.
This is one of those songs that you can close you're eyes and see it like a movie. This song always touches me deep in my soul. He has such a great voice. He wrote on of my favorite songs. It's called Cherokee fiddle by Johnny Lee you should really consider reacting to it
BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL ! LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SONG ! GGIVES ME CHILLS EVERYTIME I HEAR IT ! ✨🧚🏻✨
One of the beautiful piano songs ever
This song has made me bawl (as I am right now as I type this) for decades now first as a young boy and now a grown man....
I love this one. I got to meet him with my sons before one of his concerts. We have a picture with him. The concert was great and this has always been my favorite of his songs. Thanks for happy memories.
This song is so well known by most anyone who ever rode a horse for any reason. So..very..beautiful. MMM has many Cowboy, and historic folk songs in his play list. He, and his music is loved by Cowboys everywhere. WILDFIRE, was a fantastic 'cross over' onto radio, was a huge hit, back in the day. Be sure to pull out "Ridin' Down the Christmas Trail to You" when Christmas rolls around again, my all time favorite Holiday song. So glad you love MMM and his Wildfire, tooo.
I like this song but I've always thought it was so sad.
Bin listenning to him for years and now you know why .......enjoy ......
I could listen to this version on a loop for the rest of my days.
42 years ago my husband and I went into a little bar in an alley in Nashville Tennessee and Michael Martin Murphy was performing this song live. This song was very popular at the time and we were blown away as to why he would be in this little hole in the wall spot but thrilled art the same time. He performs mostly Christian music now 💖
When the world gets too heavy this is my go to song to get my head straight.
Cheers
Definitely “What’s forever for?”!!!!
I love Michael!
I loved your very emotive reaction. Yes it is absolutely flawless.
I saw him in concert in 2019. I first bought this album in 1975 and in 2019 he sounded just as great. I was lucky enough to record it. You need to listen to Carolina in the Pines next by him.
I used to love to take the t-tops out of my car and put in a mmm cassette and drive up the curvey mountain roads were I grew up with the music booming and my hair blowing in the wind and all my dreams ahead if me. He voice just made you daydream.
One of my favorite songs growing up!
👏👏👏✨✨✨Esto es Maravilloso!
Always loved this song
OMG thank you for doing this one. I absolutely LOVE this song! You have to check out "What's Forever For."
Your missing out if you haven’t heard, Eva Cassidy, “Over the Rainbow”, truly beautiful, best version ever.
Absolutely beautiful!
This song still makes me cry, but I love it.
Oh wow!!! I'm smiling! This song is the one song that I listened to before falling asleep when I was in college! The piano is relaxing as all get out! Thank you so much!!!! I haven't actually watched yet! 😅
That live version is better than the studio imo. I love it.
The farmer in this song is essentially singing his own death song. This is rather metal for a folk song.
My favorite MMM song is The Alleys of Austin, from his cosmic cowboy days here in Austin, Texas.
MMM is also a hell of a guitarist 🎸 as well😊
one of the few songs that effects my emotion in a positive way, still
Magic!
Ohh, as a horse-besotted schoolgirl when this came out, this was one of my songs. Such a treat to enjoy this live extended version! Thank you!
Love WILDFIRE 💗 🐎
I have always loved this song, great reaction, glad you enjoyed it!
Great song!!!!
One of my favorite genres is 70s to mid 80s soft rock and love songs Try little river band cool change or anniversary or Gary Wright dream weaver or Al Stewart time passages or year of the cat !!!
Stevie Nick's had a great solo career. Saw her in concert. "Stand Back," "If Anyone Falls," "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around," "Rooms on Fire," "Gold Dust Woman," "Leather and Lace," "Dreams," "Sara," "Rhiannon," "Tusk," "Sara," "Gypsy," "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You," "I Can't Wait," "Silver Spring," "Whenever I Call You Friend " "Talk to Me" and "Sometimes It's a Bitch." Sorry so many, some are duets or with Fleetwood Mac. Some Fleetwood Mac/Stevie songs, were you old enough to remember them? "Landslide," "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around," "Edge of Seventeen," "Everywhere," "Don't Stop," "Go Your Own Way," "You Make Lovin' Fun," "Over My Head," "Little Lies," "Say That You Love Me" & "The Highway Man." Hopefully this wasn't everything you already knew. I know you like Nightwish, etc. so not sure!
Wildfire is my favorite of his songs but Carolina In The Pines is up there pretty close. He is one of the songwriters coming out of the 1970's cosmic cowboy version of country/rock crossover music.
I’m pretty new to your channel but want to encourage you to consider the singer-songwriters of the 70s. They were a bridge between pop and country, IMO, and some hit both charts. Dan Fogelberg someone mentioned, and he is a must. Lobo, James Taylor, Jim Croce, Todd Rundgren, Jackson Brown, even Simon and Garfunkel. Thanks for the great reactions.
Never had the piano intro on the radio.
I have heard the long intro quite a few times. But I'm old. Always loved this song because of my love for horses. He has a great voice. 🥰
I always loved this song, thank you for listening to it.
Reference to the line about a hoot owl outside his window means death is coming for him and he will be with them soon. Superstition of course, but I heard it my whole life.
One of letterman’s fav songs
Craig the old mountain susperstition about the owls hooting outside 6 nights in a row is a bad omen someone close is going to die soon. Native Americans ( choctaw) say the hoot owl is a bad omen sent to spy on you by your enemies. 😊 loved this song from way back in the day..❤
One of my favorite MMM songs was a duet with John Denver, from Murph’s Swans Against the Sky album..Mansion on the Hill. Always wished those two had made more songs together; beautiful harmony. I also love Geronimo’s Cadillac and his original recording of Cherokee Fiddle.
Try Still Taking Chances and also his version of Yellow Rose of Texas are both great songs.
Check out What's Forever For
MMM has a lot of great songs to check out. I have never heard this with the long piano intro...just the stripped down part which is bloody gorgeous!! Was gonna request this...now I'll find another one!
Hadn't heard that for a while. Check out Dolly Parton's Rockin' Years.
Old legend owl flying over your house means death
Swans against the sky by MMM, or What's forever For...
Love this song! Would love for you to react to John Michael Montgomery’s “Forever”.
Starlight Ramblers….. Colorado band…✌🏻
Carolina in the pines.
Can't wait till you venture into Don Williams list of hits .
A suggestion, “Don McClean’s “American Pie” and “Vincent”,
This is AMERICANA at it's 👌 best😅😊
Wildfire….all the horses throughout history who helped us fight our battles, and yet, here in America, they are still slaughtered for various purposes. Seems like a betrayal to me. 💔
Your right ..solo so simple...but so hard to do
