But it’s a great alternative for eating less meat. Tried it in wraps, quesadillas, deep fried with a curry dip. It works well with any kind of dip and does not get dry if fried. It lasted 6 days in the fridge. Highly recommend it.

Is there a way to make this without any wheat or gluten? I'm allergic to both, but every homemade vegan chicken recipe I've seen uses one or the other.
I really recommend trying Yuba ("tofu skin"), especially the ones that are in chicken style shape. It has a very similar texture to chicken and its made out of soy. Another option is to maybe use neutral pea protein powder in recipes like this instead of the gluten

vegetarian here- I get why vegans wouldn't want to support the animal product industry in general, but I don't really understand what would be unethical about personally raising a few chickens and eating those eggs. maybe a vegan can give an answer?
@@EddieVillamordude chickens are treated probably the worst of all the animals in the animal agriculture industry💀 and that's saying something. and to answer ops question, it's not that chickens would mind if their eggs were taken, it's that the process of producing eggs for mass consumption practically necessitates that chickens are treated more as products rather than sentient beings, and thus are treated absolutely horrendously. hope this helps!
Vegans calling their simulated chicken “chicken” has always been so dumb. It’s not chicken, its plant. edit: i summoned the emotionally charged ones lol
It's a dilemma. If you call it what it is, people might not know where to start which is why you start with "non meat alternative similar to __" or "vegan ___" but at the same time you can't just hijack a word because you can erase the name of the thing. This goes for anything. You have to start somewhere before diving into an ocean of terms but simply simplifying something to a common term defeats the purpose of variety
Or you think vegans don't miss eating chicken, it is a choice though not forced but made either for health related reasons or out of compassion towards animals
I’m sorry for what I have to say. Vegan products can never replace the original no matter how hard you try. If vegans really want to eat something that tastes and feels like chicken then why become vegan in the first place just eat chicken. I’m sorry but this is the truth.
Some people do it for moral reasons and not because they dislike the taste. Others want to become vegan (for whatever reason, be it because it’s healthier or something else) and they just don’t want to go from 0 to 100 instantly, maybe they even miss the things they have eaten before being vegan.
@@ewa77771 I completely get your point my friend but if they really want to save the animals then why make alternatives of the animal products which remind and make them feel like they are eating meat when the purpose of becoming a vegan is to stop that same thing. Some of them really care but most of them are just doing it for the trend and fame. Like the person who has commented above doesn’t see the reality and are delusional and follows some infuencer who has brainwashed them. Our world has become a place where people are not ready to accept reality anymore and think the world revolves around them.

Just tried it, it's DELICIOUS ! Thanks for the recipe and the idea, you're the best ! :)
does it taste like chicken?
I eat it, i don t really like it but it's okay and no it doesnt taste like chicken
@@Daniela-lb4rm without seasoning it not really taste like chicken, more like wheat, onion and garlic (delicious imo). Once sautéed with spices, it's more similar thanks to the texture. ;)
That looks nice. I have a vegan friend and he always bring vegan food for us to try and the food that he makes are all fire.
Thank you so much for all of the effort you put into making such amazing recipes to share with everyone. I’ve used and loved so many of your meal ideas.
This is when your mind wants to be a vegetarian but your tastebuds doesn’t allow you 😅
Wow, that was interesting! I'll definitely try this recipe 🤩
"This is No ChICkEN "
We can say😂
But it's actually very creative ❤
Now I know who is Maya's true love "chickpeas".
Every vegetarian/vegan loves chickpeas, can confirm
Better than chicken. Fried these up and tossed with a spicy peanut chilli sauce 🔥🌶 So good!
😂😂, Did you grow up in Uganda..? You soo poor that you never had chicken before..😂. Get the heck Outta here man.. "This is better than chicken" BS.
THIS IS SO COOL. i’m not vegan, but this recipe is honestly incredible!! i didn’t know you could do this!!
The way you said "this is no chicken" made my brain instantly translate to 'keine hun' 'geen hoender' etc
It is so good that you help people eat healthy meat subsitutes that are not highly processed foods you buy in the supermarket!
I'm Indian, and anytime I would crave chicken, my mom would cook jackfruit and we'd have it with rice. She called it "the sister of chicken" 😂
Sometimes she used to cook jackfruit without telling me, and she'd serve it to me, while tricking me into thinking that it's chicken, and then she'd wait to see how long it took until I realised!
try out jackfruit! they have a meat texture when cooked right, and is very nutritious!
there's not as much protein, so some people don't even bother cooking it.
@@KoraWade just eat chicken
Veganism is the worst thing you can do for your health. Please don’t be fooled watching this girl.
@@Ali_art no.
Hell no! Jackfruit is not meat textured, either you have not had the real deal or there is some problem with the Jackfruit y'all are eating.
Thank you for saying its NO CHICKEN... Its so important for me.
Gluten is really esential in this recipe. It will not work out without it.
Eat chicken instead chickening.
Just eat chicken. Veganism is the worst thing you can do for your health. Please don’t be fooled watching this girl.
Garlic anything is never optional!
😂 🤤
You made this look so easy! I can't wait to try myself!!
You are God sent ❤ I needed this. Let's eat ! 💃🏿💃🏿
Could you please give a few recipes on how to use it
Ah yes seitan! Delicious. Nice texture!
I love how you alway have the recipe at the top of the comments! Thanks
Would love some gluten free options!
Jack fruit?
maybe guar gum instead of the vital wheat gluten? im not sure how well it would work though :(
Try Indian dosa
I'm gluten free and a good high protein alternative that tastes just like chicken is.... chicken!
"Pssstt this is no chicken!"
I noticed..
Good. No one wants a dead animal on their stove
@@jeliiii3890actually, most people do (?)
Tbh you are the only vegan chef that has successfully made me drool over vegan things. And im a meat lover
This is the recipe I’ve waited for!!!
When you open a restaurant I'll be your first and best customer. Good luck with your dreams.
she censored the word "chicken" like some twitter goblin is gunna come after her
Girl you need to write your own cookbook
She already has!
Let's do it Alexandria style
This looks amazing
bro i was just eating fried rice with the soya chuncks which maaa favvvv,,they are popular here in India ,,,,and guess my mom used to trick my sister by saying its chicken as she can't eat chicken and she still think its real chicken......
Oops. My mouth is sweating. 🤤 I have to try this asap
as a white person, this not chicken has far more seasoning than expected and probably tastes amazing
Classic white guilt. French cuisine, Iberian cuisine, Italian cuisine, Greek cuisine, American cuisine, Gordon Ramsay, Marco Pierre White, Anthony Bourdain, most cooking RUclipsrs, etc.
Yet “white people can’t cook.” Nahh, not true, coming from a Korean.
I know women are more likely to be leftists due to psychological reasons, but try your best to drop that white guilt.
Why is your race relevant for your point?

I’ll definitely try this with some curry or just on it’s own to try! Thank you so much!
I’m not a vegetarian, BUT gonna definitely try this recipe! 😮
did she just censor chicken 💀 what has the world become
what. pretty sure cuz its not real chicken, like some vegan products are called chikin instead
It hasn't become anything different than what it was... Change is fictional, everything stays the same
Wow. I love you for showing people how to make their own substitute. It's cheaper and you actually know what's in there. Just a couple of ingredients and none of those E-whatever. 😘
all these vegans know that chicken tastes good, and know they are missing a lot
are you 5 years old? do you really think that vegans hate the taste of meat it's just that they don't want to eat killed animals duh
definitely not lol and even if they did, most vegans aren't vegan just because they don't like the taste of meat
So why are they making their food look like meat instead of chewing veggies. Why don’t they just eat veggies instead of making things to taste like meat.
@@coinzidence546welp, because veggie recepies are not endless and sometimes you just want something different. Or to make the transition from past alimentary habits easier.
@@coinzidence546they are eating veggies. They are just shaped like food that we're used to eating. Cruelty free
But its not chiken
that's not vegan chicken, pretty sure it's an indian dish
Nah we are either vegetarian or non vegetarian. Vegan is not possible for us as we can't ditch milk or milk product like ghee and butter😂
that looks so good I’m not even gonna lie
If you're vegan why do you want to eat chicken??
Most vegans aren’t vegan because they don’t like meat, but for ethical or dietary reasons. So they might still like meat, but be unable to eat it.
You're vegan just eat the vegetables and stop referring to them as meat
Oh sorry let me just call it a " vegan blended and boiled mixture of chickpeas, flour, wheat, soy sauce and mustard, which is formed into a dough and resembles chicken"
Why tho?
@@InkedAlicewhy not naming it like vegan style. For example chickpeas.
She literally called it non chicken... Why do so many people have non beef with vegans
Don't be so daft. And clean the wax out of your ears while you're at it. She literally called it "vegan chicken". Listen next time.Smdh
I rather eat chicken in the woods instead of chicken that tasted like chickpeas
honestly the best vegan meat option I’ve seen. No soy, not lab grown, simple ingredients simple cooking process.
@fitgreenmind where in Germany and under which name can we get the vital wheat gluten? 🥺👀
Glutenpulver kannst du dir ganz einfach online bestellen.
😂😂 thus is the proof the world is going the Indian way 😊😊
USA is not the World.
I was raised on a farm. Why don't vegans eat eggs? Chickens wouldn't mind.
vegetarian here- I get why vegans wouldn't want to support the animal product industry in general, but I don't really understand what would be unethical about personally raising a few chickens and eating those eggs. maybe a vegan can give an answer?
Prolly can't even come up a legit reason
@@EddieVillamordude chickens are treated probably the worst of all the animals in the animal agriculture industry💀 and that's saying something. and to answer ops question, it's not that chickens would mind if their eggs were taken, it's that the process of producing eggs for mass consumption practically necessitates that chickens are treated more as products rather than sentient beings, and thus are treated absolutely horrendously. hope this helps!
Chicken eggs are supposed to become chickens. Anything that has a "mother" is not vegan.
@asmrmaroxa Most eggs don't become chickens. If there is no rooster, none of the eggs become chickens.
You're right, eating clean and healthy is expensive. This is a great alternative recipe for chicken! My go-to when I'm missing chicken is jackfruit
OR just eat chicken
she's vegan
Vegans themselves don't wanna be vegan. Why she is trying to replicate chicken when is vegan @@cronchybo
@@rasiyaraj4553 because some vegans still like the taste of meat, they just don't want to contribute to the suffering of animals
Why do you vegans always fake our real food?😂
It’s pretty obvious, to avoid eating meat
Vegans calling their simulated chicken “chicken” has always been so dumb. It’s not chicken, its plant.
edit: i summoned the emotionally charged ones lol
She clearly called it "No chicken"
What are you onto☠️
Meat eaters disrespecting others just because they dont eat meat is something else
It’s called that because it’s a more accurate description of the food. You’re the dummy here
It's a dilemma.
@@Dias-jm7os isn't it the other way around? Vegans insisting to eat their way to meat eaters. Of course it will totally result to conflicts
do u need to fry it afterwards? Or it's all done after boiling?
Why do vegans trying to make a recipe that resembles chicken ??? 🤔
They still have to rely on Non-vegans to verify if it really tastes like chicken.
you think vegans havent had chicken before?
Or you think vegans don't miss eating chicken, it is a choice though not forced but made either for health related reasons or out of compassion towards animals
I’m sorry for what I have to say.
Vegan products can never replace the original no matter how hard you try. If vegans really want to eat something that tastes and feels like chicken then why become vegan in the first place just eat chicken. I’m sorry but this is the truth.
"I'm sorry for what I have to say" 💀💀 no one cares
@@InkedAlice you can say whatever you want but that will not change the reality.✌️
True by eating meat we control population
I love you thanks for this ❤
