@@keymaker-k7h oh he was undoubtedly HIV positive by this point and probably starting with early symptoms. But the idea that he was singing here at Live Aid distraught at the thought of his imminent death just isn't true. Bo Rhap wasn't written when he was ill, it was released in the early 70's. He was advised not to sing at Live Aid as he had a sore throat, it may have been HIV related but he wasn't aware of any long term health implications at this point.

@@keymaker-k7h I get that it dramatically made for a better film but it's misleading. Doubtless he probably felt that way later on but at this point in their career Queen's biggest issue was pulling themselves back into mainstream public consciousness and my word didnthis performance do that ! I remember watching on TV in the early evening, all a bit fatigued as it had been going for a good few hours by that point. Queen just blew everyone away in 20 minutes and gave them exposure to a whole new audience as well as making musical history. There's a great BBC documentary about Band Aid and Live Aid and the joy all the other musicians had remembering being there and watching this performance is palpable. 😃

Yes, please, react to the whole set. I was 15 in 1985, and while Band Aid was huge even in a small town in Sweden, it was impossible to understand HOW incredibly big it actually was, musically. The 80s was for sure a lot simpler times than today is. I remember going on a train to Stockholm on my own when I was 12, to see a guy I had met on a school trip. It was not a strange thing. I moved out when I was 17 and I moved around quite a bit. With no mobile phone my mom didn't know where I was most of the time, or how I was. Now, my 35 year old son live in another country than me and I can message and talk and video call him at any time I want to. Back then I had to make sure I had enough coins to put in the phone booth phone if I wanted to speak to anyone. :D

I first heard Bohemian Rhapsody in 1975. My friend Miles had bought the vinyl single when it was released and we listened to it in his freezing bedroom, affectionately known as “The Icebox”. We were wearing our outdoor coats and we were fourteen.

Guys, I was very fortunate to have been there at LONDON LIVE AID, it’s was a magical experience, we didn’t know apart from a few artists, that were gonna perform that day, it was all a surprise to us. I also went back to Wembley to see Queen in 1986.

I'm saw Queen live at Stafford Bingley Hall in the UK in 1978. I still have my ticket, they performed Bohemian Rhapsody. I will never forget that night. Only a few thousand of us in the audience. Cost me £15 😂😂

Your on the right path, short song as he fits in lots of songs in a small amount of time? & David Bowie was on after Queen & was heard saying, how the f___ do i follow that,, Also somebody to love live Montreal , & the video version of Bohemian Rhapsody was the best as it was only intended for album or video, there is a live version but not a patch on the video, 1 more also Green Day concert Hyde Park opens with crowd singing Bohemian Rhapsody it's really quite something, More Queen Please & Supertramp well worth a listen.....😀👍

When you get the watch the full set, you will see what Freddy was REALLY like with his fans. He held them in the palm of his hand and they worshipped him! He played with the crowd and every show and they played back. Wait until you see it, you'll love it!

At Live aid there were numerous artists performing, and they all performed 20 minutes each.
So, queen performed parts of 6 songs...not entire songs.
You need to watch queens entire live aid performance. It's legendary!

Remember watching on tv as it happened - was a long afternoon & night. When Queen came on early evening the whole stadiumatmosphere lit up - the papers all said it was a standout perfomance afterwards. Was live in Wembly and Philadelphia. Madonna was a highlight because I'd not seen her perform & she was relatively new - she sang 'Get Into the Groove'. Phil Collins played at both venues in the same day. It was set up to support those enduring famine in Africa by Bob Geldof (Boomtown Rats) & Midge Ure (Ultravox) & the song 'Do they know it's Christmas' was released on the back of it.
