19 July 2021: I finished my installation of my new parking brake enclosure, added the sliding cover (I didn't know it should be there) and this video helped immensely. Soon I'll be replacing the console around the manual shifter, and I'll use this again since this covered both areas. Thank you very much. It was very well done and made this work so much easier. I also earned about two parts missing in my car, (the sliding cover for the parking brake area and the clip making a finished looking attachment of the brake console and the center console) and this video showed me what they were, I ordered, and now my console looks great! Thanks again...
Thank you for the feedback and happy to hear the video helped you get your Vette’s parking brake console finished properly. A lot of little parts go missing over the years mainly because DIYers (and even mechanics) don’t take the time to figure things out, so it’s up to us-years later-to do the job right. Thank you again for the feedback, and enjoy your Corvette! 😊👍🏻
You were right on the mark again. I have gone through three of the console seals and never could figure out what was going on. Using the aluminum tape and cutting away the Flatline insulation did the trick. I also put in the rear speaker system and overhead light in the T-top from your videos. They both have greatly enhanced the car and now I can actually hear the radio and see into the back of the car. My interior is black and it was truly dark before I put in the LED lights and switched the back light to the console. Great videos that are very helpful. Lot of guys skip over critical small details in their videos, you never do. Thanks
Hi Cooper, glad the videos have been helpful. I have no idea as to why GM didn’t realize (until 77), that an overhead dome light was kinda of important. 🤷🏻♂️ The sound bar is one of the best upgrades for C3 coupes. Glad you’re enjoying yours. Thank you for taking the time to comment and for watching my videos. 😊👍🏻
Don't worry about the detailed videos. The more detail the better. There are other RUclips channels that just verbally describe fixing something on a Corvette but I like your channel because you actually show the process. That really helps people who then have to do it themselves.
No need to apologize for some of these going long. The more detail the better. Thank you for taking the time. The button on my brake lever broke so I had to remove the cover and this video saved me a lot of guesswork.
Just about to install my shifter console and e-brake cover, so this is a big help. Needed to see how the T-spacer clip attached to the shifter console. Great tips! Thanks Luis
Thank you for this. At 1:35s you provide the info I needed! Been scratching my head for the last 20 minutes trying to figure out why I cannot remove the handbrake cover assembly on my ‘69 C3. It feels like there is a hidden screw behind it holding it in. 😭😭😭
Those little bolts are a real PITA. I removed them years ago and never reinstalled them. Anyway, I believe I was able to get to both by removing the storage compartment liner (the one where the jack is stored). Good luck! 😊👍🏻
At 8:28 you mentioned that it's rare to pull back the parking brake. Don't you park the car by leaving it in neutral and applying the parking brake? I would think you are applying the parking brake all the time.
The only time I use the parking brake is when the car is on an incline, otherwise I just leave it in gear (either first or reverse). Been doing that for 40+ years with all the manual trans vehicles I’ve owned. Not sure if it’s a bad habit or laziness. Kinda like frequently skipping second speed when shifting.
Thanks for the detailed videos. They inspire. Love your car. Mine is a ‘75 4 speed torch red with black leather deluxe interior. Curious, what is on the drivers side removable panel of the forward console in your car?
Thank you! 😊👍🏻 As far as what’s on that little removable panel, there are two items. One is my garage door opener, and the black switch is for the factory-installed rear window defogger (I’m planning to make a short video about it one of these days).
Hi Megan. While I did not specifically show how to install the new seal over the parking brake handle, approx. 2 min into the video I explain that the slide comes precut so it can be installed, then 8:35 min into the video you can see that again, and a third time approx 18:30 min into the video where I address the fact that the slide can get routed incorrectly due to that split which I believe is self-explanatory and basic, just as installing a new seal is.

So grateful for all of the detail! Especially the trick to help find the nut when replacing the console. Little things help a ton.
Glad to hear it was helpful. Thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻

About to tackle this job and I do appreciate all the details!

Great job! Thanks for sharing.

Working on this center console is a PITA as you well know. I try not to open it up unless absolutely necessary.....
It is almost as much fun as replacing blown fuses 😆
Great vid. Very helpful as I prepare to replace the carpeting. What size wing nuts? 1/4-20?
Thank you! 😊👍🏻 I think they are 10-24 but I’d bring one to check with their bolt and nut gauge to make sure.
How do you remove the screws (bolts) at the rear of the park brake console?

@@76vette much thanks. Love you channel and content. 5th Vette here. '69 small block coupe.

Should have showed the back screw or nut that's behind the glove box ?? Is it a screw or a bolt ?
I never reinstalled that little bolt. It’s a PITA and frankly unnecessary, IMO.

Where is your woofer?
Thank you! The subwoofer is behind the passenger’s seat, on the car jack compartment door. I can move it though if I need to gain access.
24 minutes and you did not show, how to put the broken piece around the e-brake handle.
