I used Krita to animate this. Krita has very basic but very useable tools for animation in my experience. It's more of a painting program but I really like that, because I have all these tools to get a more painterly retro aesthetic, kind of the 90s anime aesthetic in a few ways. I'd be glad to answer questions if you're curious about 2d animation on Krita.
All my animations is made on krita and flipaclip all I can say is... It's easy to use
Very. I appreciate the simplicity y
Krita is still waaaaay better than flipa
The design is very human
You should be ashamed by the content you make
@@AnimaMik vry ez to juice
Yeah being able to use all the paint brushes is very nice, however using it for longer projects was quite the hassle for me.
It is a hassle. There are workarounds but it is still limiting. I've thought about learning clip studio paint and comparing the two
Agreed. I tend to split longer projects into 30-60 second long files, especially if multiple levels of transform masks are involved since they're currently somewhat experimental and can conflict over the course of one file.
@@MACKYBOY-41 Yea, but I normally need to animate in super low resolution to do clips that long. Also, the UI makes it difficult for me to transition to looking at clips over a long period of time (more than ten seconds).
Very good for short clips but not long form animations. I've been using it to animate a 16 min pilot; it's taken about 3 years as of now and I'm only 70% done 🙃
I've come across a similar problem. It's also been limiting when I want to animate in 4k. I could see myself using Krita for painting backgrounds and still assets but doing character animation with something else
yt recommended me this video twice and it was totally worth it
I'm glad you like it :) yt often doesn't recommend my stuff much but it's been doing more lately and I'm very grateful you found it
This looks amazing!!!!!!
Thanks!!!
This feels like a moving painting a really great piefet
@@Ciorno2K that's what I've been going for. I love the painterly look
Is Krita good for animation?
Yes, the answer is yes.😌👌🏾
Speaking of which, I was wondering if we could have a little collaboration one of these days.🙂
Yea? What do you have in mind?
@@innocentrobot962 Yeah, there's this video game project I'm working on called The InBetween, and I've been on the hunt for an animator that shares my same love for that rotoscoped 80s anime aesthetic.
So I was wondering if you would be interested in collaborating with me on some of the game's cutscenes.🙂
@@vcdgamer that trailer is awesome! Do you do the art? I really like that style. I'll be honest, I don't have a lot of time. I have a full time day job and I can't hardly get my own movies made. But if you have animation I could try color grading it to get that 80s feel
@@innocentrobot962 Glad you like it. Yes, I handle the art and animation in the game.😁
Also, oh..... Yeah I understand, i've been in that spot before.😅😓
But yes, I'm definitely going to submit an animation to you to color grade it.😌
@@vcdgamer Yea! Just let me know. Also, if a few people are interested, maybe I should just make a video where I step-by-step show how I do texture and color grading on my animation.
I animated a 2 minute short film with krita for practice which u can see on my channel, it's intuitive to use but if u want to add camera motion (like zooming in), or do animation curves it was a pain and krita crashed often on my laptop. So if i were to do another project i would by an industry standard animating software.
I saw it! It was so good!!
Yea, the animation curves can be hard, though I generally just never use them. I don't generally like having a moving camera. Sometimes with zoom ins I can just do it more easily in a different software, like Da Vinci Resolve.
But yea I'm really curious about trying something else. I'm finishing up a big short film now and when I'm done I want to try animating in Clip Studio ex.
@@innocentrobot962 awesome, thanks for watching it! I'll return the favour when u release ur short film.
I'll research other softwares for animation for sure.
isn't the software that make the artist, it's the artist that make the software
Very true. Sometimes limitations just inspire more creativity
If it wasn’t so buggy on my computer I’m sure it would be a wonderful software
Is it really more buggy than other stuff? Like I keep hearing it's buggy and I wonder if it's more about people's computers? Maybe something like flipaclip just uses way less cpu
@@innocentrobot962 oh no it’s definitely a problem on my end. My computer is very old and laggy, any big software really can’t function. That’s why I switched to animating on my iPad
Nice job again. Ghibli vibes. Enviable chopstick skills. Really awesome colors again, and the ramen looks amazing. Also, who’s back there??
The ramen bowls were just abandoned... Which is my lazy way of saying that I filmed strangers eating ramen in a ramen shop and then edited them out of the video...
Also, I was definitely thinking of Ponyo when I was drawing that ramen
Just in case people haven't known. You can tween on Krita.
Tween as in use the transformation mask and onion skins?
Yeah Krita rules !! love it really sweet animation
It's really amazing what you can do, especially with the painting brushes.
Good to know it’s good now I have to practice for 10 more years 🗿
@@datinator1200 it's not as hard as you think! This was like a year and a half in
Yes, is good.
It's decent. I really like how easy it is to get the painted look
I thought this was the blank soup guy 😭
Who's that?
It is if you know what you're doing, im so glad procreate dreams exists now
Have you tried it? A friend showed it to me. Looks like it could be really smooth if you learn all the gestures
@@innocentrobot962 I'm currently practicing animation in it, there's abit of a learning curve but I don't get overwhelmed using it compared to desktop softwares and it really allows you to just get immersed in the frame by frame experience, it feels like what Nintendo flip note may have evolved into one day if it had continued getting support
I like this Monk.
Monk?
yes
It ain't bad.
Krita is easier to use for animation than Clip Studio I'd say, the problem is that Krita crashes a lot when using the animation tools
Really? You use clip studio ex?
@@innocentrobot962 yep :v
So cool
I'm glad you like it :) Krita is super fun
Clip Studio EX for me 😊
I want to try that next!
Could you do a tutorial of how to use it? It's overwhelming for me.. :(
I've thought of doing a tutorial. But I'm not sure what I would add to the tutorials that are already out there about Krita, rotoscoping, animation
that was so cool!!!!
I'm glad you liked it :) it's not as hard as you think. You could learn if that's something that interests you

I'll call that a yes
Yes for many things. Though I've been getting really interested in trying Clip Studio Paint
Tried it, decided to stay on FlipaClip.
Ooooo interesting. What do you like more about flip a clip?
@@innocentrobot962 way too used to FlipaClip, and Krita a bit more complicated for me.
@@randomnessanimation6831 that's true. I guess for me I just love all the painting tools.
is that the guy that was forcefed soup?
Fact: it was not
waughh i should really use krita i have it downloaded but i never use it
It took some getting used to but I thought it was really accessible. I did digital art as a kid and then took a break for almost twenty years. Krita was my first entry into getting back into it and I thought it wasn't too bad.
Yes! But the space it takes up on the computer depending which one you have? You'll be kissing those MB's goodbye LOL krita is my source for everything so theirs some really good ups and downs
That's true. Sometimes I'll animate in a lower resolution and then it works pretty well. But I've been thinking of using Clip studio paint
♡♡♡
wow
I want to know what he looked backwards at
It's part of a short film I never finished. He lives alone in a dead city. He's dragging a piano across the neighborhood, stops in a ramen house to make himself dinner, and then hears someone playing his piano outside
awesome sauce
Well thanks :) it's a lot of fun
@@innocentrobot962 ive been trying to get into animating small things recently so its cool seeing this on my feed and im doing it in krita also

What does that mean?
@@innocentrobot962 🗿
It's free.
Lol that's my favorite part
so, the answer is no?
Depends on what you're going for. This is definitely bad if you want something more smooth and consistent
Krita=Better than Adobe Animate
It depends on what you want. For old school raster animation it's decent
My Krita android app shuts down when i try to import audio. I tried to uninstall and install but no hope ☹️
I've never even tried to import audio. Yea I don't know how it would do if I had audible dialogue
Yes.
I think so. Have you ever used it?

It's actually something I wrote and recordee

Thank you! I love music like this. It's very Ghibli
@@innocentrobot962 will you ever make it public?
@@soupfan1 well, I only recorded about a minute of it and I didn't like it very much. Maybe one day I'll record a more extended version? I don't know. I have a hard time recording music that's not for video. I just get lost trying to perfect it but it gets worse and worse
Krita is hard to my low laptop 4gb can anyone tell meother sofwater ?
Hmmm have you tried Gimp or flipaclip?
You can try rough animator
@@IntrusiveCandy what's that?
I don't know why, but relation
The answer is yes no doubt
It's fun! Have you tried Krita?
Good for animation? Yes.
Good for long and detailed animation? No, at least for a basic device. It almost broke when I made a minute and forty second animation with a simplistic style.
That's true. I guess my shots are never more than 20 seconds. A long shot would be very clunky. What software do you use?
@@innocentrobot962I used Krita for that animation. Now I'm using Blender.
yes.
I like it. Though it is very basic
i use krita animation,and crush every 20mins
Yikes! Maybe it's a computer thing. Do you use a different software?
@@innocentrobot962 ur right, maybe it’s bc of windiws11(the old version of krita wont crush)
I also want to change a program but I don’t know which one is better and how to use it.
@innocentrobot962 I download the old version and it works now.
win11 can't use 5.2
hear me out,
its free
That's the thing. But I would pay for it just for that painting engine
huuh
uh huh
i dislike the ui for krita, its buggy too so big no

not rlly animation its js tracing
does this look like tracing a picture/video?
