Rotoscope Animation and Video Reference | Side-by-side Comparison
#originalmusic #2danimation #rotoscopeanimation
I wanted to show how video references can be used for animation. With a little imagination, video reference can be a great starting point for something that is still fantastic, stylized, and cartoonish. I think Rotoscope Animation can get pegged as only being good for hyperrealistic stuff: but it can be essential for making anime, painterly work, or other highly stylized and fantasy animation.
I'm still hoping to make a video soon where I detail how I get from the video reference to the animation.
Also, I've been working on music for a gothic visual novel and I've been recording some demos which I've included here. Let me know what you think...

Animating Water is %$!*@%! HARD

#rotoscopeanimation #2danimation #clipstudiopaint I rotoscoped some waves on Lake Michigan and I remembered just how difficult it is to animate water. Obviously this is an especially easy approach since it just mimics so much real life details. But I tried to incorporate transparent layers and other things that more traditional people do. It was really tedious though. I want to try another shot...

Krita Rotoscoping: An Animated Painting
your music choices are awesome
@@charlottecarter2748 actually it's original
I honestly really like the kinda scratchy style, it gives a feeling of chaos and anxiety that Kit might be feeling. I think it could also be really cool if the style smoothed out a little when she listens to music or escapes into a fantasy, where to her, things make more sense. (Kinda speaking from personal experience lol, at least that's what escaping into my own fantasy world feels like.) I also really like the animation with the hand drawn frames that differ ever so slightly so that there's movement even when a character is still, it reminds me of Omori lol.
Omori is a huge inspiration, but also it reminds me of when I animated on paper and just drew things fresh every frame with a pen and pencil: very scratchy and fluid. But yes, that scratchy feeling definitely feels more frantic to me and reminds me of how my mind feels.
Your art is great man, no matter what you do we’ll be here and we’ll love it 🔥 I honestly love all of these, can’t wait for the progress! Good luck with the RPG maker and with the project :)

I had a question that has been bugging me for a while and i havent started any projects because of it. (it literally kept me up at night one time lol) and i hope you can clarify. (sorry if its pretty long, but i want to be as detailed as possible so you understand) I plan on doing some of these rotoscoping animations, as reels, (short instagram videos or even youtube shorts if you will), but using existing footage (not my own footage, but footage from music videos, sports, and movies). For example: lets say i rotoscoped 5 seconds of michael jacksons moonwalk dance. Is it legal or will i have copyright issues? Keep in mind, i dont plan on tracing michael jackson and then putting my own character in place of michael jackson and then claiming it as my own. I plan on drawing michael jackson himself and using his music and everything, and then citing where i got the footage from. I also plan on doing sports reels, for example rotoscoping a basketball player dunking, soccer player scoring, etc, but with different effects happening in the background. Will i get in trouble for this? Am I allowed to do this? another MAJOR note to add, i do not plan on being paid or collecting any revenue from any of this at all. I simply want to create something exciting and engaging. Obviously you will not get into trouble since you are using your own original footage. I really hope you can help me as I have been asking everywhere and ive been just afraid to start and waste my time after someone tells me its illegal or whatever. I also want you to know that this video and your other rotoscope video examples have inspired me heavily and i thank you for your hard work and innovation. thank you for reading :)

@@innocentrobot962 if its a programming snag, I don't have a lot of experience, but I heard renpy engine might make things for you easier. I think good planning and being economical with your time (if this is your first game) is gonna make your journey a bit easier developing this game. Even though, Ive been observing indie game development for a long time, I don't have a lot of experience in it.... Yet. All I can say is, don't think of your first game too highly. You're not gonna hit peak at your first creation, and that's OK. Take it as a learning experience to be better. Hope you inform us more about it. I'm happy to hear and help you, as much as I can.
@@darkingmimo thanks friend. So far I havent had problems programming. I've been learning renpy and it's a lot easier than I thought. Honestly it's the content. I really haven't liked what I've made.
