    I only wanted to replace my screen as it was cracked. I came across this tutorial in the search for 'replace Asus UX31a screen'.
    Having started the video, which was very tedious from the beginning, I began to follow the instructions. 8 mins in, I thought to myself that this cannot be right just to change a screen! I was up to the point of taking more of the components apart. You can see where I got up to by the timing. Wasted about three hours.
    Anyhow, such is my instinct told me to stop, I did. I put everything painstakingly back together and started on the screen removal.
    This was the by far the best way. It was so easy from start to finish and only took me an hour.
    If you are looking just to replace the screen, don't waste your time by watching the first 30 mins, it's so boring as especially there's no sound or dialogue as to what he was doing. But if you are looking for more than just replacing a screen, then watch by all means.

      I understand your situation. I admire your willingness to fix it, specially knowing the fact that this laptop screen is hard to take apart because of the glue. This video is not for fun and I don't talk in these videos. No need, it is all the same.
      I hope you fixed your screen!!! Have a nice weekend!

    Strong suggestion for a video this long:
    1. Include timestamps of the main sections in the description.
    2. Being a chatterbox is annoying, as so many instructional videos tend to be this way, BUT not saying a single word is incredibly frustrating as very useful information could be gained from comments along the way "this part here needs to snap out, you can feel the clips up here" or whatever. Because of the lack of any sort of annotation I found this video to be rage inducing and the only reason I watched it as much as I did is due to the lack of a single other video on youtube that shows replacing the keyboard on this system.
    Excellent visual detail, horrible on the very critically needed vocal annotation for things you cant see from a fixed angle.

      +Ricardo Chavez (Mexikaner) all laptops where bezel is glued is hard. It gets out a bit easier if warm it up, but still, not as easy as regular setup. IMHO, Apple in this case is the worst.

    Thanks for the detailed video! I need to replace a broken panel on my UX31e, and I have two questions:
    1. Do you think it is absolutely necessary to to remove the panel assembly from the rest of the laptop before trying to replace the panel? From videos about older UX models, that seemed rather easy, but for this UX31e (looks same as yours inside) it appears that the entire motherboard and related items need to be removed to be able to disconnect the wires to the panel assembly.
    2. What kind of tape/glue are you applying before putting the frame back on the panel assembly?
    Thanks again!

    • @regazzz
      @regazzz  10 лет назад +1

      Hey ***** , first of all thanks for watching!1) I would say it is possible to remove internal screen without taking a whole laptop apart. I just feel more comfortable with removing this sticky front bezel while screen is off the machine. On the other hand, the point of this video is taking a laptop completely apart and not only removing a screen. There will be difficult to unplug video cable ...But not that bad I guess. Overall, I am sure if it will be not possible, you will be still able to remove a screen from laptop and do that separately. 2) I just have some regular two side tape, like 3M brand from a regular grocery store. Works well. In this video, as you can see I used this tape partially. I would say it will be better to use this tape to cover every place where bezel is attached to avoid any bubbles. And of course make sure everything, including web camera works prior gluing bezel back.

      regazzz Hey, +regazz, I just wanted to get back to you and thank you for the advice. I was actually able to replace the display panel without taking it off the panel assembly from the rest of the laptop. Yes, the video cable was short, but not a big issue to reconnect. I used one of those microwavable iFixit heat pads to apply heat more directly to the frame to avoid damaging the laptop. (My only issue is that the panel is slightly different, and has a weird polarizing yellow tint effect, but it works)
      So thanks again. - Lars

      ***** Hey bud, is there any way you could give me some instruction? I got one of these for free and the only thing wrong with it is the LCD cracked. I'd love to fix it.

    • @LarsJoreteg
      @LarsJoreteg 10 лет назад +2

      Skwerley doyle , Sure... I dug through my pictures and found some that I took during the procedure. I made a small Imgur gallery of my steps: imgur.com/a/SS5y3 (I added some description to the images)
      I had purchased my replacement panel from eBay for roughly $100, just make sure it is the right kind and that you get a glossy one. My matte one had a slight yellow tint, but it might have just been a lemon.

      +Lars Joreteg Hey thanks for sharing your imgur photos! Very helpful!
      I've replaced many screens but this one is a tricky one! I was wondering if you maybe could answer the question I asked Regazz earlier > " @ 35:35 you start peeling off two silver sticky/tape-like parts which are stuck to the pcb. However I do not see you re-attach them. Are they of no importance?"
      Thanks!

    Hello,
    Impressive work!
    I have a question regarding the RAM. I'm trying to find out if is possible to upgrade. I've been reading around and it seems that can't be replaced. After seeing your video I think you are the right person to ask :)
    Do you know if any of the pieces you remove is the RAM or is soldered to the base?
    If is replaceable, could you please point to the time stamp on the video where you removed?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello regazzz,
    A while ago i disassembled my ux31a
    All fine (had a hard time to reassemble the tape to touchpad) except for audio. Don't know what i did wrong but i have no audio now. It's not a question of drivers (will not work even if i start a live linux usb), it seems i forgot to connect something.
    Could you please advice where's the audio parts that i seem to have missed. I check and check but can't find any loose cable/connector/tape...

    Hi Regazzz and thanks for your upload. Takes guts to work with the guts of these laptops.
    I bruised the screen on my laptop and theres a white mark on the display. I have read that this can be easily fixed by applying some suction on the sheets in the back of the screen, the guide i saw used a womans razorblade suction device just real gentle to make the thing flat again.
    is it possible to remove the back covering without removing the front and disassembling the display? I just need access to the back panel and dont really feel comfortable taking the entire display apart. just looking for access to the flimsy sheets in the back.
    awaiting your response, thanks again.

    • @regazzz
      @regazzz  Год назад

      I would just simply go to eBay and search for it. Make sure you have exact UX31 number, I think there could be some differences between UX31A and UX31E. Also I know that the cable will be with the hinge. I don't think it is removable. If you search for used LED cable you will find it mostlikely with hinge.

    Can anyone tell me where the ram is located? I just can't see it during the video which is bizarre because I build my own desktop computers. I have the UX31A version. Thank you so much regazz for putting this together for all of us.

    • @eduardoavila646

      Ivan Beoulve If ots the ux31a, try to recover windows or reinstall it. If that doesnt help an the bios also says it has only 4gb, then you have a hardware problem.
      The ram in the ux31a is soldered into the mainboard and it os those blacl squares when he opens up the bottom pannel, close to where is the ssd.

    I know getting paid is something important but when your sponsors ad blocks the presentation and doesn't show what you are doing - I move on

    • @regazzz
      @regazzz  6 лет назад +1

      +Dan Vink if you don't like ads, use adblocker. And you can simply donate some $$ if video is helpful.
      This ads before the video aren't my sponsors. It is ads placed by RUclips because I allowed so and yes I am getting paid like that. Some ads are 15 sec unskipable. Some ads you can skip after 4 sec. Also pop-up banner can be closed. That's how RUclips works for a while. And btw. if you move on to another video and will not watch my and commercial before video, I will not earn a few cents, oh well.

    • @AirborneSubmariner
      @AirborneSubmariner 6 лет назад +1

      I appreciate the polite answer - when I find a video useful, I do donate and I also pass it on to my co-workers. If those popups are out of your control - that is one thing. For instructional videos, having ads block the content is just a waste of time for viewers and if that is out of your control - I would look at the video - the ad placement and adjust the viewing area so that the information gets across to the viewer.
