I have some roku devices that are 10 years old that still work albeit slow but they function. I've seen too many (Insert Name Brand) tv's with their own smart functions become almost useless because the manufacturer decided to stop supporting that device do it age sometimes only a year after you get it. I always suggest to people wanting to have a streaming device get a roku. If they want a soundbar get the roku streambar. They are fairly inexpensive and stay working until you decide to make an upgrade. Thanks for keeping us updated.
My daughter got a TV for me this Christmas and let me pick the one I wanted. I chose a 50 inch Roku TV. I was a faithful Comcast customer for about 15 years and cutting the cord was the best decision I’ve ever made. I love my Roku TV!! I just plugged it in and it was basically that simple to set up. I took advantage of the Paramount+ promotion and I’ll probably cancel after my two months is up. I have Netflix, but I usually only keep that for a month or two and then cancel and a few months later, I’ll go back and get it again. I love Pluto TV and Tubi. It’s got everything I want and Roku is so easy to use. I bought a streaming stick for my old TV which I have in my bedroom now. My only regret is that I didn’t cut the cord a few years ago.
I’m a happy Roku ultra user and have them on all my TVs. Including on my Sony a95L that’s sits in my main room-i much prefer Roku than the google interface that comes with the tv.
I use a Roku as a travel device. It's okay. But the one thing I really miss from my Apple TV at home is the ability to quickly switch apps (on Apple TV this works exactly the same way it works on your iPhone). It's just not a feature at all in any Roku stick, box or TV. You get what you pay for.
I just bought a 75" TCL Roku TV for $375.00 from Wally World on Black Friday. I have a 3 year old TCL Roku 65" and it works great. My 55" TCL Roku is great. I like TCL because I use the same remote for all TVs. The built in Roku seems to work well and the screen looks good. I like the App TCL plus TV. Regards...
I’ve got multiple Roku units - love the simplicity, interface and ease of setup. Recently got their Streambar and am impressed by how good it sounds. Even have a TLC TV with Roku built in. My wife is sick of dealing with multiple remotes and I’m over configuring various ports, receivers, devices, remotes and managing all the associated cables. One power cord + one HDMI cable = done. Another plus is Roku supports AppleHome, Apple AirPlay and Chrome Cast so you can mirror content from your phone / tablet / laptop. The only downside is the remote has 4 buttons on the bottom that are linked to certain services that you can’t change. I really wish you could reprogram those.
In the October/November time we received notices that we needed to delete some of our apps to free up memory. We only had 19 apps and now we are down to 11 apps, but we have not received anymore notices about memory issues.
I will likely stick with my cable provider for the simple reason that I can schedule recording of any future shows. I can then fast forward through the ads.
@@joshuaguenin9507 If you do that, are your recordings all in one location or all over the place ? I would expect that each streaming provider would have its own repository of saved videos.
I am happy with my Roku devices on my smart TVs. I find the interface to be easy to use compared to my TVs and it looks the same on all four that I have it on, including my computers.
Both times I purchased a Roku Ultra, they had to be returned, one due to the HDMI port, not being soldered to the board! I then got several of the Roku Streaming Sticks, and I love them, never had an issue from them, the Roku 3, I still have it but, I don't like how big it is why I don't use it. My 1st Gen Google TV and Android TV players are still working perfectly, (not the older Chromecast dongles, Google TV players. Although the Vizio Co-Star can't seem to find anything to play on it anymore in the store, it still works, now to find out how to hack it and put Linux on it...)
I can do a headphone on my fire stick. I don't find it laggy at all. I just didn't know if there was a big difference as far as putting apps on there. Like I said I had Roku to start with and then I switched to fire stick. Thank you everybody
I just got the new Roku Ultra, but for my Bedroom, there's still no Roku Express or Stick with Bluetooth, so I'm getting an Amazon Fire HD for my 32 Inch LCD 1080p Avol TV.
How about doing a video about cutting cord(S) ? As in cutting CATV AND the internet. So does a roku TV have any value when just watching thru-the-air channels?
I have a Roku tha doesn’t have a microphone feature, also have one that does. Can I get a replacement remote that does have a microphone on it? Does that mean the one I have is too old?
I’ve got a roku streaming stick plus but i can’t get RUclips tv on it plus my daughter & Wife have A roku tv each and i can’t add RUclips Tv on there’s either why is this We are in 🇬🇧
I have Fire sticks on both TVs, one's a stupid TV and the other one's the smart TV so I've got two Fire sticks. But my question is and I had a Roku at one point. What is the difference between the fire stick and the Roku if if somebody could explain that one to me that would be awesome
The rocu is much more simplified and much faster than the fire tvs and fire sticks, and the main difference is the rocu is just more lite weight and smooth and not laggylike the fire stick after a few apps installed. Also not mentioned is the headphone feature is nice, where you can tap the button in the rocu app to switch over to your phone or headphones to not disturbothers at night, where as to do something like that with anoy other devices you would have to go under settings and find it, also gaming is much better on rocu, the remote is a joystick.
Bought a Roku about 8 years ago when I didn't do enough research. Bought a Google TV this time and an adapter for my Roku. Roku is too close-ended with ads. Limited apps compared to Google TV.
Yep. I have the same issue. Roku also doesn't recognize when you're subbed to a service that they have a deal with. Ex: Paramount plus+ would be 2 subs because roku doesnt want to recognize that you have it already and integrate it with ota.
My Roku Home Screen will show me content I was watching and let me continue watching 🤷🏼♂️ I absolutely love Roku. I’ve been using a Roku player pretty much since they launched. And now I have a RokuTV.
My Husband was complaining just today that: to continue watching a free movie on Plex from yesterday, he'd have to pay to view it today. What can he do to rectify this issue?
I would imagine probably every TV on the market has a smart TV element built into it. Just keep in mind you don't have to use the smart tv functions if you don't want to. I currently own a 47in vizio tv that is about 5 yo now with some streaming channels programmed into it. But I prefer to use a Roku streaming stick.
The short answer is no. The long answer is yes but you're going to be getting a monitor or display screen not something that is called a TV. You can plug your streaming device into that and bypass all the so-called smart features TV have nowadays.
Why anyone would want a non smart tv is beyond me. Most PC monitors don't even have cable in or out ports, so you're stuck with just Ota tv. Eventually free streaming services will replace ota as well.
Why can’t we just download the OS onto our TVs yet. I thought these things were “smart”… all the tvOS’s are garbage and slow and the UI sucks so the UX sucks. Just Ai these beasts and lets go.
i got a roku 32 inch tv. back in october and tried recently to put the legs on but we can't screw them in its like the screws are to big. the directions sat with tv facing down match the l and r legs to corresponding slots. they wonn't go in i tried left the leg going into the left side while facing down is that supposed to be right of am i supposed to put the left leg on the right side of the tv while facing down i am thinking if you have the tv screen facing you should have the right leg on the right side and left left on the left while facing you. roku won't help i have to have internet just to connect the device and it applies to registering for a warranty. i am supposed to take it in to best buy and see if they can help. after all this, i hope the tv works with just satellite or else i am screwed. roku is a joke

I bought the cheapest roku many years ago I could find and I watch only things that are free.
We have Roku streamers on all of our TV's, We love everything about them.
I really like Roku, I have had a Roku player for years and now TV 📺’s with Roku player built in.
Still have a first gen stick that works like a charm! Thanks for another great breakdown!

you can do that with the streaming live providers also.....for less

I have Roku tvs so this may help
I wish they had a better remote, one that I can program to operate other devices like my receiver, TV, etc.

I have been using Roku since 2012
Question for Luke: If i just grunt into my Roku remote, will Roku still search for Tim Allen films/shows?
😂
Try it!
I have a Roku tha doesn’t have a microphone feature, also have one that does. Can I get a replacement remote that does have a microphone on it? Does that mean the one I have is too old?
Roku rocks!🎉
I definitely prefer ROKU to any of the other devices, but I am very disappointed that they didn't include the ability to add a Micro SD card.
I was given a Onn ruko tv a couple weeks ago but I still use my streaming device I have the Walmart onn 4k pro streaming box
I wouldn't buy a TV that wasn't Roku. The sticks & boxes are fine to rescue a non-Roku TV but it's better to just replace the TV if you can.
I would like to see asian ,free, dramas, somewhere!
I need a new pin just started my TV up after yrs
Is there a way to get rid of Roku ads?
I’ve got a roku streaming stick plus but i can’t get RUclips tv on it plus my daughter & Wife have A roku tv each and i can’t add RUclips Tv on there’s either why is this We are in 🇬🇧
Can you add a firestick to a roko tv?
Yes. I have a fire device on my TCL Roku TV.
You forgot to tell them how you can turn off most of those ads!
Can you tell us?

I've never had a memory issues with Roku. On my Firesticks, I've had to empty the cache on apps. Never had to do that on Roku.
Firestick can side load
@@Brian-xi3kzI have no idea what side loading is. I am very tech challenged
@Pantara20 where is the button you can tap on the Roku app for the headphones?
👍
