I'm so disappointed in myself that I didn't listen to this sooner. The original and your cover both capture the mysterious, haunting, enchanting and hypnotizing lullaby the song has. Your voice is phenomenal as usual, and I wish I had your range and clear tone. When I listen to this, I think of a forbidden forest (kind of like in Harry Potter), where children have often been warned not to trespass lest they face dire consequences. Though one day, a curious and inquisitive child decides to ignore the warning of the elders and steps into the forest, only to be completely entranced and lost in it, like they're stick in a never ending mace. Then they hear a soft sound, "Hoo~ Hoo~", which almost feels like something that came from their imagination, but then it becomes more distinct and the creature behind the voice appears. It's an Owl, but it somehow feels different from a regular Owl. Then they hear this song playing in the forest, maybe from like a priestess or Queen of the forest, and feels kind of unsettled, but also oddly comforted by it. The Owl and the child befriend each other despite the child being an uninvited vistor, and they go on journeys traversing and exploring through the vast and entangled space of the forest, and they grow to be fond of each other the more they spend time with each other from their adventures. Though as the song begins to end, it's as if a door/portal opens that leads them the way to their way back home. The child desparately doesn't want to let go off their new dear friend, but they must leave because they're concerned that their friends and family from outside the forest might be extremely worried and distressed because they've been missing. Unfortunately, the Owl cannot go back with the child because everything that belongs to the forest (an unusual one at that), must stay within the forest, as a rule of preserving nature. Partings are inevitable, as they both realize, but the child promises to the Owl that they wil try to come back one day if they can. I also have another interpretation. Since the Jungle is wild, chaotic, dangerous; it almost resembles a headspace when someone is going through depression or other mental illnesses, and it clearly captures the feeling of being 'lost' from the conventional part of the world, which is society. The forest is an elaborate imaginary world that they have constructed themselves, and the somewhat daunting echoes you hear are the inner demons of the child that they hear. The child befriends the Owl in this version too, but once they're in the process of recovering, they no longer need to keep on maladaptive daydreaming to keep this world intact as a coping mechanism, and can finally move forward because "something is going to happen". They have to part ways with the Owl in this version too, and might possibly never be with the Owl again, as a part of growing up and moving on. I think both the endings I've come with are bittersweet, haha.
