Have an Ortega RCE145BK, It's alright I guess, don't know much about the rest of 'em. My pops used to have a Kent and my mom had an Alvarez which has a better tone than the other 2 in my opinion. All nylon. 🤙Cheers
Sadowsky is in the umbrella rating of boutique active basses with Fedora (they are much more reasonably priced though), Warwick Sandburg and Cort neither of us knew enough about them to rank, and we grouped Squier in with Fender for simplicity
If I had to pick one bass to use for the rest of my life it would have to be the fender p-bass. I love my jazz bass, and my schector stiletto, but the p-bass is just so effortless. Easy to dial in, and sounds great every time. That being said, my jazz bass is by far my favorite bass to practice with and play around with.
I've been playing a 1982 G&L L2000 E bass since 82 now I play a Cort modern GB4 both basses can deliver all kinds of sounds. The G&L weighs almost 14 lbs the Cort modern weighs 7 the CORT sounds great for our hard rock originals it's bright and cuts through the mix with plenty of low end .
It's subjective of course but I strongly believe Taylor cannot hold a candle to Gibson and Martin in terms of acoustic guitars... to me they all sound thin and lack balance.
Do you guys have Takamine or is that a European thing? There's also Maton and Cole Clark's from Australia, really really solid acoustics especially for finger-style!
As a canadian who may have more experience with godin guitars, they sound and feel awesome. Really high-end instruments for a nice price and a lot of soul in them. It's hard to describe the feel, but they're definitely one of my favorite brand for guitar. I just wished they made more electric basses.
Agree about the PRS. I bought a black Special back in 1990, and the thing never ever changes. It is the most comfortable guitar I have ever tried... except for maybe the fretboard, where I like the more modern flatter fretboards, like the MusicMan JP my friend owns, but otherwise the PRS is great. And two years ago, just to have a bass, I bought a Sire V9. The electronics had been replaced with something better, but I don't remember what... I don't care.. hahaha!, But it is a really really nice bass.
For bass- G and L, and Fodera underrated. Sire was cool, but hated their neck profile. Shecter was super nice, neck through, never went out of tune. Crap electronics and hardware. Yamaha's are nice for the price, but again feel weird to play imo. I would put yamaha b or c tier. I played a Martin guitar once, and for half a second I considered playing guitar. Was amazing.
You guys are sleeping on G&L. They have cheaper low quality stuff and better more expensive stuff just like fender does. I have a fender strat and a g&l asat bluesboy (tele with a hum bucker at the neck), and my fender is collecting dust.
Love it guys! ❤❤❤ 🌷 ...here come the holy wars 😂 but seriously, of the few brands ive played over time, they fall about where they should, except for Jackson which absolutely belongs in front of both epiphone and rickenbacker, and possibly equal with Charvel. Great list!
Fair, Epiphone was definitely weighted down cause of Thomas’ experience. And Fodera could absolutely have been D tier but as a blanket for boutique basses in general there are much more reasonable companies for sure
When did people stop just saying "price" and insist on saying "price point"? Let's stop this madness. Or, on the other hand, let's start always saying "build quality point" instead of just "build quality" and "year made point".
I love you guys …but come on, the best brand for Basses going is Spector…(well at least next to Fender, my Jaco Jazz Bass is awesome)…You get one you will never go back… and what about MTD basses!
@@Evan_394 because washburn was a solid company that never did anything wrong but dean became a bunch of unoriginal disrespectful pricks when zelinsky left :P
@@aveadonat9378 I don’t know what experience you had that made you think that but they’re good guys over there. Just some situations where people have come and gone which is the case with nearly any company ever.

Gibson, Rickenbacker, Earnie Ball, instruments are WAY overpriced. I think that they think that they are worth more and are over-valued. Anything above $2K is a waste of money. When prices jumped higher than $700 (late 70's/early 80's), you know they were going down hill. I've had Gibson, G&L and a lot of Fender basses, including Fender/Squier guitars. Gibson RD Artist bass was cool, but unstable. Gibson Les Paul Recording bass was a great short scale, but not what I needed. G&L was great, but their necks kind of sucked with their 3-bolt radiussed neck/fretboard. They seem overpriced now with a strong hint of cheapness - In their American made instruments. Their overseas guitars sucked. Rickenbacker doesn't like change and are specialized instruments. They are ALL over priced now. I bought a New Rick 4001 back in the late 70's for around $400. I'll never buy one again. Up until the early 2K's Fender Korea, Japan, elsewhere sucked for guitars. But since, have grown up and have started to have quality to them. I've had 4 or 5 Fender basses and several guitars. The basses seemed to be quality instrument, the guitars until the early 2K's were a mixed bag. Until the 2K's, all overseas guitars, Mexico, Japan, Korea were all out of tune with themselves, which made playing miserable. Fender has seemed to change, mostly for the better. Although, I will never purchase anything over $2K for them. The main problem with many of the guitars, before a certain time, is both fret sprout & being out of tune with themselves. Overall though, Fender P & J basses are the established workhorses for music. Their guitars have become better now than they were in the late 90's. Even the Mexico built guitars are much better.
ATTENTION 🚨 WE FORGOT MARTIN! S TIER!
Also let us know what other brands we forgot to include!
Eastwood. Eastman. Goldtone. Reverend. Waterslide.
Peavey you goons. The T40 and T60 are legendary
Furch, Duesenberg, Heritage Guitars, Guild

Yamaha is S tier. Every guitarist who have ever played one knows it. No matter the price budget. Specially the higher end instruments.
And then in the world of E-Drumsets Yamaha is one of the worst lol
I'm calling bs
I would take an ESP over an Epiphone
RIGHT
I never would, epiphone sad e much better than ESP now days, specially the ones above 600$
ESP over everything else!😁
Y’all did Suhr and G&L so dirty.
This video can trigger a world war 👀
Triggered me right off the bat.
my brother left his PRS at my pad with a modelling amp. Neighbors were knocking at the door groovin, that axe was so sweet.
G&L injustice. That came down to EWE not fender! 😂
Where's Squire? Or does that fall under Fender?
We counted it as Fender yeah
whats sorta sad is fodera used to make a $1,000 to $1,500 line of basses that are really good but they discontinued them in like 2011 :(
G&L is awesome! I love my G&L Kiloton
Where is Sadowsky, Warwick, Sandberg, Cort, Squier??
Cheaper brands need a most likely to get tetanus from fret sprout category.
Firefly. Eart. Donner. The list goes on.

For acoustic guitars, what about Martin? Or Seagull?
Yes, seagull. Cedar top S6. Beauty
The pinned comment addresses how we forgot Martin (whoops), but we don’t know enough about Seagull to rank it accurately
Where's Warwick? They make some amazing basses, got to play one of their thumb basses once and it was a pretty nice experience.
No experience with Warwick at all really, couldn’t give an accurate analysis

You guys have to check out Cave and Canary Guitars and basses!
Casey Crecenzo from Deer Hunter came out with them..
G&L L-2500, one of the best 5 string basses for the money IMO. Huge sounding active pickups that can go from J to P tones and in between.
My friends dad worked for G & L. They were located near me in Huntington Beach CA. Decent guitars. C+ to B-
It's subjective of course but I strongly believe Taylor cannot hold a candle to Gibson and Martin in terms of acoustic guitars... to me they all sound thin and lack balance.
let me add: it might be a different story if you are a strictly lead player and not chords to accompany vocals.
Fair enough
