Brother Don, thank you for the plain, and straightforward teaching you do on God's word. Coming out of a pentecostal background, i appreciate the straight teaching from His word.

I was taught forgiveness is for you (solo) and doesn’t require anything from the other person. But reconciliation requires repentance, and rebuilding the relationship.
Is there actually any biblical difference from the two?

15 "If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. IF he listens to you, you have gained your brother. Matt18:15
    And the parallel
“So watch yourselves. If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them.” Luke 17:3

If Steven called out to the Lord asking that he forgive those stoning him, I'm absolutely confident we should always do the same. Why must we try to defend not forgiving those who don't have a repentful attitude towards us? This kind of behavior isn't from God. Always seek a heart of forgiveness when someone sins against you. Pray over them for the sake of love. If necessary, let the Lord do the pruning to that person. Not us.

We should absolutely forgive everyone and not hold onto any bitterness. There is so many scriptures, not only about that we should forgive, but that we should not have any bitterness in us. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, not us. We are to walk humbly harmless as doves.

(Luke 17:3 MLV) Take-heed' to yourselves; and if your brother sins at {i.e. against} you, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.
(1 John 3:4 MLV) Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
    (Matthew 7:23 MLV) And then I will confess to them, I never knew you' . Depart' from me, the one working the lawlessness. {Mat 7:24-29 & Luk 6:46-49.}
(John 12:48 MLV) He who is rejecting me, and is not receiving my declarations has the one who judges him; the word which I spoke that will be judging him in the last day.
(John 7:24 MLV) Do' not judge according-to appearance, but judge' righteous judgment.
(2 Timothy 3:16 MLV) All Scripture is God breathed and is profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, for education which is in righteousness,(2 Timothy 3:17 MLV) in-order-that the man of God may be equipped, having been utterly equipped for every good work.
(Proverbs 12:1 MLV) He who loves correction loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid.
(1 Peter 4:11 MLV) If anyone is speaking, speak as the oracles of God; if anyone is serving, serve as from the strength which God is supplying; in-order-that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ to whom is the glory and the dominion forevermore. Amen.
(Luke 17:4 MLV) And if he sins at {i.e. against} you seven-times in the day, and should return seven-times in the day, saying, I repent. You will be forgiving him.
(Romans 6:1 MLV) Therefore what will we say? Are we remaining in sin, in-order-that grace {Or: favor; and so elsewhere in the letters to the congregations} may increase?(Romans 6:2 MLV) Let it not happen! We who died to sin, how will we still be living in it?

We just have to be led by the Spirit... He will lead us to that chosen one. That chosen one may be under a bondage and so the power of the Holy Spirit will deliver that brother in God's time.

Should a believer always be merciful? Can you explain the difference between being merciful and forgiving?
Also where does 1 Corinthians 13:5 tie into this?
“Love keeps no account of evil”
Would us not forgiving someone who is unrepentant be a way of keeping an account of evil?
    Not being contrary honest questions

I had a question about scripture. Are we as Christian’s supposed to celebrate the Passover still? Do you have any videos on this topic?

Appreciate the encouraging discussion. Quick to forgive is good mentally, physically and spiritually medicine whether there is repentance or not. If it be a Christian offender that still holds respect for God's words then repentance will truly and remorsefully be given. And a maturing offended Christian will keep the door open for discussion to lead to peaceful reconciliation. We must seek to stay in peace in Christ as we learn in all challenges to adapt to His wise and best ways of doing things even when it is difficult. It would be well for our precious souls and light for another precious soul. Remember being in Christ is daily living and growing on His platform of how to handle living than our own ways and the unkind ways of the world. Unforgiveness is cancerous and a hidden hindrance in our relationship with God.

      Your explanation is not biblical.

So I think we need to look at the context of Luke 17:3 because it’s different from the context of Matthew 6:15. Matthew 6:15 is talking about our heart posture in prayer, while Luke 17:3 is talking about how we deal with fellow believers.
I believe the Bible teaches via Matthew 6:15 that we are to forgive no matter what. We shouldn’t hold anything against anybody in our hearts. That is the example Jesus gave on the cross when he said father forgive them for they know not what they do. He wasn’t actually giving them forgiveness in the sight of God, he was showing us how our hearts posture should be towards fellow humans.
Now let’s look at Luke 17:3.. this is talking about how we deal with fellow believers. This can be read in conjunction with Matthew 18:17, 1 Corinthians 5:12-13, and James 5:20.
“If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18‬:‭17‬ ‭ESV‬‬
“For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.””
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬
“let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭5‬:‭20‬ ‭ESV‬‬
The idea here is to hold our fellow believers accountable for their actions and let them know when they are wandering from the truth. We should still forgive all people no matter what. No God’s forgiveness is not unconditional but we are not God. God is also the only righteous judge. If we forgive those who are unrepentant, we aren’t saying God’s forgiveness is unconditional, we are just following the example of Christ. God the righteous judge will sort it out from there.
“Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God.”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬

God will not forgive those who don't repent Luke 13:3&5. He didn't forgive Israel when they sinned, until they turned to Him in repentance. We must repent, as He commands all men to do so Acts 17:30.
