I’ve actually chatted with several RUclips pranksters and what’s disheartening is that some genuinely don’t understand how they are viewed as antagonistic.
Some of them genuinely didn’t grasp the concept that they were hurting people and doing something wrong.
Its like a mixture of sociopathy and stupidity.

It's pretty disgusting to me and very hard to grasp that they don't see what they're doing wrong. Surely they look in the mirror one day and understand that they're only hurting people and no one is really laughing..

From what I’m understand in this comment is we need to set something up that see’s whether the prankster is actually a bad person or if they genuinely don’t know. If they don’t know, tell them so they can stop. If they do know some form of punishment is needed to try and stop them from continuing to do it

@@jazzbeeetazzbeee Ehh I honestly don’t think that’ll work. I think that as sensible people, we make the mistake of conceptualizing these antagonistic pranksters, as people who want to do the right thing, but who have been led astray somehow.
But in actuality, I think pranksters want to be the menaces that they are, and internally operate in ways that can justify their actions to themselves. In short, I don’t think they want to change.
One of the pranksters I talked to was Seth Meiring and he was featured in this video. From my perspective, I don’t believe they’re gonna see the error of their ways.
Mainly because they know what they’re doing, they just don’t see their actions as errors.

I was the victim of a walmart "prank." Just minding my business and all of a sudden I was hit in the face with a pack of bed sheets that was thrown over several several isles. It broke my glasses, cut my nose and gave me 2 black eyes. It didn't work out well for the kids though, funny when they were crying and begging me not to press charges. I didn't have to the state did for me and parents had to pay all my medical bills, buy me new glasses and restitution. I feel confident that a group of teenagers will never throw anything again.
Edit to clear up some confusion in the reply section... I didn't press charges personally because the state and district attorney pressed the charges for me. They were charged with assault, disturbing the peace and about 2 more I can't exactly remember. They were juveniles so they didn't "serve time" but the parents had to pay their fines that included my medical bill and new glasses. They had to do community service, banned from that Walmart and basically were on probation for while. I know they were kids, I didn't want to ruin their whole lives after being influenced by social media. I hope they learned their lesson.

A few years back, one of my friends was going to a get-together on her scooty. Some of these pranksters stopped her by pretending that they're in some emergency and threw water on her, ruining her dress and makeup. But she has always had the best presence of mind and self-control I've ever seen in anyone - she pretended to be interested in their stuff and thereby, got to know their names and channel name, and took a selfie with them. She took these details to the nearest police station, where the officers assured her that they will lookout for these guys. We don't know what happened after that, but she said that their channel didn't exist anymore. I hope more survivors of these pranksters, like you and my friend, get the courage and time to take legal actions against them.

People should ask themselves the following before doing "pranks" on total strangers:
      1. Could the "prank" be construed as a bias motivated hate crime, assault, or battery?
      2. Could they sue you for injury or property damage?
      3. If the victim shoots you, would it be considered self defense?

I think this group of wannabe pranksters could sense that and they decided we were the perfect target. All throughout the store they filmed us, screamed in my ear and my husband's ear everytime we turned a corner. I tried my best to ignore them, but my husband got really riled up and gave them exactly what they wanted. Obviously he was trying to protect me when he started screaming at them to leave us the F alone, but you could tell they were very satisfied they got him that angry. these aren’t even pranks, it’s just straight up bullying. social media has really limited people’s capacity to feel empathy for others and it’s just plain sad. they not only bully people in public, but post it for potentially the world to see, and publicly humiliate them-all for the sake of a few clicks. all for shits and giggles at the expense of an unsuspecting person who just wants to live their life. and i hate when they get called out, they call people “sensitive softies”. like, no, we just understand base level empathy and recognize disrespect.

the sad part is that these pranksters want any type of reaction. angry, sad, whatever. and their audiences will make the victim seem like the bad guy or “too soft” for having a natural human reaction. they need to learn to leave people alone. one day, somebody is going to either hurt one of them OR one of their victims has some type of reaction that requires them to need medical attention (faint spell, seizure) bc of the legal action that would be attached to that. and even then, they won’t take it seriously.
