Yep - being assertive by itself - is not going to cut it in the long run..
One has to develop understanding of how things work 🤗

Man once again, such helpful material. I've been reading "when I say no I feel guilty" but this makes me realize there's so much more to be assertive. I have a lot of work to do but am so glad I'm on this journey and am able to grow! Thx again for this wisdom!!!!!!!! God Bless You!

Generally the only people who respond positively or neutrally when you set a boundary are people with healthy boundaries themselves. Otherwise one needs to prepare for less than a neutral response. So for someone like me, who is only just learning to know how I really feel, let alone how to speak on it, I think this is very important information. There is way more to it than just saying something. For beginners, practice speaking up for yourself in situations where you don’t have important connections. Then you can kinda practice on some lower hanging fruit without huge emotional risk.

I don’t have an emotional back bone .
I try but emotions get the better of me & I react .... not good for relationships
I’ve decided to just stay quiet . Anytime I’ve tried to tell the truth or how I feel it ends up badly . 😢

Ive been mobbed by my entire family, mum, dad and brother. None of them are talking to me. Ive tried. All i did was assertively tell them they hurt me and they are the victims of me now and they also trashed me to my aunts. And as if that isnt bad enough she is always trying to tell my teens im stressed, im angry, im silly. Anything but the truth; she hurt me.
    I am so alone.

How do you know so many guilty secrets like 'dont want to grow up'? It actually tells me you really know what you are talking about and that there is no place to hold back ways and thoughts that are toxic but known. Both a challenge and a relief.

Thank you, your knowledge is fascinating and admirable. Thank you for recommending the books and identifying some beliefs that people hold (including myself), which is really just normalising what is not healthy...
I will be studying art therapy and person-centered counselling for the next four years. I hope that I can discover more deeply that you have come to know.

greetings ! can you please speak about how to do it when someone is going through a tough time? for example, I was emotionally strong all my life .. but life conditions (e.g., chronic illness) brings us down and makes us vulnerable (e.g., in from of narcissistic parents to whom we suddenly need to have contact to). I wonder if you would please talk about this

Perhaps you could balance out your videos with examples of men who are also the agressors or the controllers. Love your videos but your examples seem to most often be about the mother/wife.
