Hot Lips Gurgler Bluegill and Bass Fly Pattern

Jack Gartside’s Gurgler has long been a mainstay for topwater bass and saltwater fishing. John Williams of Pack and Paddle in Lafayette, LA and Kisatchie Fly Fishers member Flip Siragusa learned this Hot Lips version from Ron Begnaud. It differs from the regular Gurgler by the addition of a lower lip, giving it a much more aggressive popping action.
Materials (Olive):
• # 4 - #14 dry fly or nymph hook
• Olive marabou
• Krystal flash - rainbow - 3 strands
• 2mm foam strip 2.5 times hook shank length, cut to hook gap
width. Use 1mm for #10/12/14 hooks - green or olive
• (optional) Hare e Ice dub or other similar for #6 and larger - olive or brown
• Centipede legs - yellow and black
