  • Video discusses some things to consider when choosing a generator. Also discusses maintenance and fuel consumption. Always make sure you have enough cord to keep gen set away from your house and in ventilated areas. Buying a Carbon Monoxide monitor is always a good idea.

Great info. Good advice to go with the Kubota diesel for extended 24 hr. service. A guy here on Y/T used a Generac home standby propane unit (similar to your 22k unit), for "off-grid" use and it failed. He tried to file a claim and Generac denied it saying exacly what you said; "not intended for extended or 24 hr. service". He voided his warranty.
I own two home standby gens. 1) the Honda eu3000is for running TV, modem, laptop, refrigerator and lights. 2) Yamaha ef4500ise for running additional items like 15k btu a/c in summer, or space heaters in winter. I would like to see Kubota come out with a low RPM (1800) Low Boy. That's a beautiful Kubota machine you got there. Cheers!

I agree on 1800 RPM.. Onan makes a motor home generator with Kubota diesel 1800 rpm and it’s amazing…

The dual element hot water elements only run one at a time. They will never run at the same time.

I really like the idea of the diesel. Been looking at the same kubota for months now. I was going to go the duel fuel portable route but I really wanted a long term unit. I don’t like the aluminum air cooled units. Even the portable units with the Honda motors scare me! also I don’t trust anything without a filter. And those units are 5k.

Great info, you have convinced me to get the exact Kubota you have. I live close to the Victoria area, so I will be paying Scherer Kubota a visit soon. Thanks

Once I switch to all electric for the house and go to heat pump I am definitely going with a diesel generator with a 100 gallon tank.

@@RockyRohde thanks I need your advice. I have the westinghouse version of the 4500. According to the westinghouse website and there email they said the 30amp parallel cable can handle 2 4500 igens? I feel like they are wrong? Westinghouse even emailed me saying you can parallel 2 4500s on the 30 amp parallel cord. I feel like it's too much power for that cord?
