What can I say? A really well filmed clip which includes so much detail. Not only that but the lovely autumnal sunlight played its part as well. Some day the possibility is there for the rail operator to close the line from Gorey southwards - a real tragedy if it happens. To have such good footage as this is very important. Also I can't help observe how muscular 073 is at pulling its train of 7 coaches. Speed builds very sharply from a standing start. I'm looking forward to the Munster Double on Sat 14th Oct (I already have my tickets) when two 071 class locos will pull this train - 4,500 HP on tap, should be impressive. Well done to the cinematographer for excellent footage.

Niall O'Neill Thank you very much, I really appreciate you taking you time to view the video, it does mean a lot. When I first heard about the possibility of the Gorey - Rosslare section of the line closing I immediately thought that it wasn't going to happen and I still think it won't happen due to the number of people who travel and use the train to get to Wexford and Rosslare, the line is well used, it's just Irish Rail want to close it to save on operating and maintenance costs. But there would be pure outrage if the line were to close.
Likewise as well I'm really looking forward to the Munster double, I thought 073 was an absolute beast on this tour, I can only imagine what it will be like with two locos.

Great video guys. Reminds of the good ole days when 071 , 141 & 181 class GM locos used to operate the rosslare and arklow trains down past where I live here in greystones from back in the day.

Joseph Newsome Thanks for that Joe. I thought that might have been the final train of the evening to Rosslare, just goes to show you have to ask before you do something.

22:32 :-D :-D What a magnificent piece of machinery and a real honour to see them going for decades out living their original set of coaches and mk3's I mean just magic...Hopefully freight on rails will rise again...it no doubt will if we continue signing 'save the polar bear' deals and Trump keeps withdrawing from them and who knows we could just see another vintage piece of magnificence being restored in the future. I'd much prefer that because with the huge exception of the ICR's, I just ain't a fan of modern trains at all... Super vid btw

That's generally friction between the wheels and the rails
