Retro IE 071 Class loco 073 on the Emerald Isle Express 25/9/17

On Monday 25th September 2017 I was invited to travel on the
RPSI / Railtours Ireland Emerald Isle Express Pullman Charter Train from Dublin Connolly to Rosslare Europort & Return.
The train was formed by Retro 071 class loco 073 & 6 Luxury Pullman RPSI Craven Coaches + BR Van 3173.
For charters such as this one The Emerald Isle Express & The Emerald Isle Explorer the RPSI's Dublin Based Carriage Team do a fantastic job to transform the Beautiful Cravens from Standard Railtour Coaches to Luxury Pullman Coaches the coaches looked amazing on this trip on board was a group of tourist from across parts of the world on this leg of the trip they travelled on the train from Dublin Connolly to Rosslare Strand calling at Bray & Enniscorthy along the way on route the guests were treated to lunch on board while for my self I was treated to music of 073 working hard a pon arrival at Rosslare Strand the guests alighted from the train and boarded a bus for the next leg of their trip to Waterford this was the first day of a week long tour of The Republic of Ireland for the tourists after this part of the trip they would visit places such as Cork & Killarney etc after the passengers alighted from the train at Rosslare Strand the train continued to Rosslare Europort so 073 could run around and the train could be serviced before heading back to Dublin.
On route back to Connolly the train called at Wexford , Arklow , Wicklow , Greystones & finally Dublin Connolly were I alighted from the train after a great day travelling in luxury after I alighted from the tour and a driver change took place the train continued onto Waterford.
For myself travelling on this charter was a fantastic experience and I would like to thank the RPSI Dublin Operations & Railtours Ireland for inviting me to travel on this trip it was a fantastic day.

The loco looks absolutly beautifull. A credit to those who put the hours into preserving it. At the same time I miss the days when they bore the look of hard work and miles of travel, in all weathers on their " faces "...faded paint, diesel soot, oil, rail grime ect....our engines had so much character back then.

43:53 Oh LOORRDDD the POWER! Fantastic sound! I'd swear the drivers love tunnels. Even leaving Cork last October (Looking forward to your vid on that in due course) he went full power through the tunnel I say he nearly enjoyed it as much as I did haha dear oh dear. And a flying start at 47:40. Really Matthew a fantastic video and as Joseph Newsome takes the words right out of my mouth, I would listen to it all day....not to say I might have done already....

Fascinating ride down the street at Wexford. Didn't they made a lovely job with those Cravens. That biker seemed to be remonstrating with someone at 41:05.
