Nothing can be taken away from his college career despite his actions in the pros. He definitely had great players around him, but he was a terrific runner and could make unreal throws (back across the body, etc).
Any Real Bama Roll Tide fan will always remember Texas A&Ms Johnny Football!!! 1 of the best games ever in College Football History in upsets this game was dynamic!!!
Generational collegiate player and one of the finest/jaw-dropping individual performances I've ever witnessed (same for Mike Evans and Ryan Swope that day). Johnny was on another planet. We lost this game but we never quit and we learned a lot about the future - and what college football was going to look like. It's turned out pretty well. Roll Tide.

+George Stern idk bro cause did u say his interview after court recently he said something about being in football again but he does play baseball also so i would at least see him in baseball
SLITHERx CONJURING problem is his off the field issues really wasn't why he was under performing in the NFL. Jonny knew how to run and make plays when the pocket collapsed that's all he knew. He was never a pocket passer. He barely studied defenses because he didn't have too he made all his plays on the run that's all he knew. Excellent college player could have been a decent NFL player with the proper education and work ethic. He was a star he was popular. He cared more for the fame than anything. I can name 50 reasons why Manziel didn't make it in pro level without going into his off the field issues.
Most of the United States of America had no idea who he was until he played. Lets be serious. That name would be irrelevant if he didnt explode his freshman year. Don't be technical.
You didn't read my statement correctly, I said IF he didn't, obviously he did. BTW, take way Mike Evans' production and deduct it from Johnny's, you have a 3rd round QB at best, and that's why he slid to the Browns.
my grandparents lived on a ranch near his home town. I remember people always talking so highly of him when he was in high school.I never thought he would be this big.
manziel makes decisions so quickly..i cant remember anyone like him.he can throw standing on his head..hes a great great player..will break records when he matures.
This was the best team in the nation last season, no doubt about it. They're probably the best team in the nation this year as well, as long as Manziel can handle the pressure of being taunted by the other teams & the fans without getting himself into trouble.
Agreed. The awesome thing about Manziel in that game was that a lot of his best throws & runs came more than 5 seconds after the ball was snapped, after he got under pressure and found a way out of it. That might be the key to beating Alabama, and yet neither team really has a way to plan for it.
Amazing to see how much he has progressed over 1 year. In 2012 he was run first and always looked to find an open lane. 2013 he stayed in the pocket more and only ran when he needed to or he saw a huge lane. Say what you want but he will be a solid QB in the NFL
They made him? Are you serious man? Did you watch the same game I just did? Johnny was running for his life all game 😂 we made plays on his own and kept his team in the game. They made him 😂
+Isadore “Izzy” Gonzalez yet he's not Nfl level. I have never seen him run like that in any game, i want to see him try and get broken in half by the linemen lmao. No disrespect, he's still a beast

Tim tebow was the SEC all time leader in passing efficiency and passing percentage at the end of his college career. The verdict is still out on if manziel will be successful in the nfl.
This man has grit, toughness, an incredible ability to throw on the run and create plays, an edge that will come in handy, and a great work ethic. If I were a GM I would take this guy first round. You can't teach his X factor
After 'Bama beat Notre Dame and the Aggies beat Oklahoma, the significance of this game was huge, and Texas A&M moved from No. 10 in the final rankings to No. 5 for the season. A top five season -- ahead of Florida, Florida State, Stanford, Kansas State, S. Carolina, Michigan, Neberaska, Texas, and the rest.
He throws better than I thought, he also did a few pre-snap reads and went through his progression. Those deep throws he had were on the money. He ran too much for me in this game though. He needs to be more patient in the pocket because with his talent he can always find a running lane
This guy is a freshman. It's scary to think about how good he could get with more experience under his belt. Makes me respect LSU's away win verse A&M a lot more now.

quick, athletic, and mobile QB. He's also pretty elusive and can break tackles even at 190 lbs. However, all i'm seeing is these short quick throws that any QB in the NFL can make. He doesn't wow you with his arm strength or anything. I have to give him credit though. Playing against Alabama ain't easy and he played pretty damn good. I just don't know if he's play will relate well in the NFL
This was Johnny football career highlight? Sure he made some plays but the most part he was running for his life and getting crunched. His receivers in Evans n Slope made big plays in the game
Manziel, as ultimately played out in the NFL, was a one read QB, and that's part of the reason why the offense relied far too much on screens for a team with the talent they had.
being an ND fan i watched this game and when Johnny Football tore up Alabama's defence i thought that Bama's defence just wasnt as good as everyone though it was. Then while i watched ND get stomped on in the BCS championship game i relized just how goo Johnny Manziel is.

Everybody gets knocked down but it's the Champions who get back up and Alabama got back up. 31 more days until we bring home Back 2 Back BCS Championships and # 15 overall. Not to mention we are going to be even better next season and will 3Peat as BCS Champions. Roll Tide Roll
i completely agree with you, that play at 1:18 proves your point, no reason for him to scramble there, against an nfl defense he's running right into a sack

To with in on the Manziel vs. Mariota debate, I find it very difficult to compare the two, as they are both very different players who are asked to do different things on offense. Manziel is asked to do much more through the air than Mariota and is probably a more dangerous scrambler as well, but Mariota is more consistent, less mistake-prone, and can throw with better touch. I would say right now each of them is best for their respective teams.
