This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Your video put to Nightwish's song is a great combination, and you did very well. I want to thank you for all the work you put into it. Thank you. :)
No one ever made a great video for Ghost love score, i can imagine with a great man like you Steffix, a amazing video could be made, i know its a old song now, and maybe its more fun to do new songs, but i think a good story really could be told there, but also it might be a big job, because of the lenght of the song, might be why no one did a good video to it..
Im so happy that NW managed to win me back, they lost me some with Anette, but this album is a masterpiece, and i cant let it go again, i listen to it all the time, i think part of it is fFloor of cause, and that Touamas did manage to write a new kind of poetry in this, yes all did great, it is a band album more than most previous NW albums, and when that is said, they also look impressive live i think...
Pure brilliance, musiaclly absolutely fantastic. Full marks to the keyboard player who writes all the music & to put a video together with it is mind bending. And i never thought a rock band sounded full with a female vocalist, Evennesance came pretty close. But full marks to miss Flora Yansen ive never heard a range like it, since joinning the band, she has made it 1 of the best bands around.... I cant wait to see them at Donnington this year, all the other bands ive seen a number of times, but this will be the first time i get to see Nightwish live & i cant wait. I definately think they should do more tour dates in England as i think they would fill every areana!!!!!!!!
I really like the aurora borealis scene that you added in this version :) Just my opinion: If I were to make this video, the "atavistic dread of the hunted" scene would show humans dominating over all other species on Earth.
Great video, man, though I think you missed the mark a little on the "we were here" part. It's the triumph of life leaving its mark, not the destruction of it.
I have to say this is one of the most beautiful videos I've seen on youtube even with the poor video quality of the source material it's still amazing :) It really does justice tho this incredibly good Nightwish song :)
I really admire whole vid, but the part at 13:21-13:31 gives me chills everytime I watch it. Brilliant work! Btw, you've just earned another subscriber :D
This is a really great track and I like the videos you have done of this. Also this video. However my personal opinion I like the other more in part IV, where we see the Earth repairs itself after human extinction (I take that you know the documentary "Aftermath")... As you shows us in part IV in the other one, there are no human left on Earth - and it becomes steadily more and more beautiful again - wildlife coming back to life. But great work - I appreciate the big efforts made to do this - and I'll watch your videos again and again, stunned over how great the music, the themes and the pictures fits together. Thank's :-) :-)
Jesper Holm that was my intention at first; to create the history of the universe from the beginning to the end. But really, Richard Dawkins is talking about how we should enjoy our lives (in Part IV) because we're so goddamn lucky to be alive. And so it's as if the music sort of goes away from the history of the universe into some higher state or some different world of ideas (instead of phenomenons). At least that's how I've grown into thinking when listening to this song. A youtuber also pointed out to me that the universe is not "just" four point six billion years old... four point six refers to the age of Earth. So Part I is also a bit mistaken, I've come to realize. My point being; I can keep changing this video over and over again because my perception of it changes. That's what I love about the song, too. It's alive. My "inner images" changes every time I listen to it. BTW: see ya in Copenhagen, pal! ;) Who're you going with?
Steffix I can easily follow you - I think the theme with EFMB has started many debates / discussions about Earth / universe before and after our time. And yes, the song/lyrics/idea/theme is very dynamic and I can imagine for creative minds like yours, new perceptions keep popping up, as you are listening again and again. I'm going with my wife and two friends. Still have two tickets available as two other friends backed out after I purchased the tickets. But I don't think it will be any problem selling them to someone else ;-) See Ya
I think next time I'm teaching a biology class I'm going to make students watch this. Thank you so much for making this video. I'm a PhD student in the life sciences and sometimes when you get involved in all the number crunching and monotony of experiments you forget why you got involved in the first place. This video sums up my reasons for loving biology well. :)
Thank you so much for posting this. This version is much better, although i like better the first half of "the toolmaker" on the old video and the lyrics.
Stunning album and a brilliant song. Steffix you did a fabulous job with the video. I preferred your first version ....watched it sooooo many times. The second version is also cool but lacks something in the dramatics of the song. Don't get me wrong ... its still a great video, but my vote would go to your first rendition. Keep up the great work.
What you've done here is quite superb. A real pity that you didn't put the subtitles on this version but that is my personal preference. Good job all the same.
I really liked the original, but I love the updates you've done here. This verison of "The Toolmaker" and "The Understanding" are definitely different, and have a nice flow to them. Just something I noticed was that the summary or the evolution of mankind was pretty Western-centric. It's hard to do otherwise using movie clips, since most historical films in Western media tend to be based around Europe. Still, if this song is about all of the earth and mankind I would hope for a little more diversity. You've done amazing work!
ForeverOfTheStars Same here. At the last concert I went to, I thought this was going to be their last song. But they played Ghost Love Score directly afterward. I am torn too! I guess it's a good thing we have more than one masterpiece to choose from.
Music is great! Video is better, than previous, but has to be worked on. Too many dinos and the part "We were here".. I don't think it's about apocalypse. I think it's about something like a man lying in the hospital ward and his family members are standing around. And before this we see his childhood, then graduating university, marriage, his child born, he is saying last goodbye to his parents and then a hospital ward again. Just how I see it.
Just as a heads up synthesized double reeded instruments, ie oboes, bassoons, and English horns/Cor anglais do not sound remotely like the real thing. Speaking as an Oboist/English Horn player.
Thank you for posting an alternative video. Some nice additions but you shouldn't have edited out Earth's recovery as this is a secular work that doesn't prioritise mankind over it's place in the universe. The use of the four horseman of the apocalypse & Michelangelo's Creation of Adam are powerful but nonetheless references from the bible & to God which the composition & your original video did brilliantly to avoid. In comparison, this is a little too sentimental & out of context but even so, another fine effort. How about doing the rest of the album?
Gary Martin Despite being agnostic atheist myself I don't think it really detracts from the video having theistic imagery; it is still a part of human history. Albeit dark and violent part of our history.
John Greiner I'll take back the comment on the use of the Creation of Adam from a human perspective as it looks great. What I will say is Steffix got it right the first time interpreting the lyrics & the gradually accelerating pace & didn't need to please the 22 folk who were critical & gave it a thumbs down by updating it. The simple fact that the sun will continue to set long after we've gone on the original was the perfect ending in my view.
Nucte Meron I think these wonderful videos by Steffix have started something here! None of which deserve any negative 'thumbs down' but are open to debate on how things will pan out for mankind. The first one kept to the narrative of this amazing opus. The sun going nova would be spectacular but the profound "we were here" reference concerns our relatively brief occupation of a planet on which (as mentioned before) the sun will continue to set long after we're gone.
Great song, but evolutionary/armageddon theories are just, well.......... theories... so its kinda pointless compared to their other songs which give a pretty good message.
umm... you are not alowed to have a monetized video using nightwish's copyrighted song. you dotn have a link to the original sng either. or did u get permission to use their songs? i know id love to use their songs in my videos...
Kristin Dark i am a youtuber. youtube posts ads on videos that are monetized. non monetized videos allso do not have ads. this because youtube wants to avoid legal issues. i have manual control to say what ads can be playd on my videos.
Are you sure about that? I've seen ads on videos of people I know who are not getting paid for it. Perhaps people just didn't realize they didn't click on the option for no ads to air.
To me this is the ultimate Nightwish song. So much emotion in one piece of music. The pipe-sections of Troy are especially haunting and beautiful.
Absolutely wonderful job with this!
This is something Nightwish should play in the background when they are performing the song live : )
This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Your video put to Nightwish's song is a great combination, and you did very well. I want to thank you for all the work you put into it. Thank you. :)
Breathtaking...! Both....song and video....thank you so much, Steffix! You created like Tuomas and Marco a real masterpiece!!
Damn...who keeps on chopping onions every time I watch this video...
This is the greatest music video of all time.
I love what you did after the we were here part. The world keeps on turning. Literally.
I loved your first video but this gave me goosebumps :) Nice job! Cheers from Mexico
Dear Steffix, thank you for the great job you have done! A very good cut, it conveys the SENCE so well!..
Stunning video of an amazing song! Bravo! Great job this is one of my favorites
Amazing... really moving & thought provoking. Powerful.
Wonderful job!
""we are one, we are the Universe"
Beautiful video for this beautiful music, thanks!
Awesome video man! You got exactly what the song tries to transmit! Keep up the good work!!
One of my favourite RUclips videos ever ...well done Stefix

Fantastic video man. dropped a like, keep the content coming man!
Great video, man, though I think you missed the mark a little on the "we were here" part. It's the triumph of life leaving its mark, not the destruction of it.

First video of 2017. I loved it.
I really admire whole vid, but the part at 13:21-13:31 gives me chills everytime I watch it. Brilliant work! Btw, you've just earned another subscriber :D

By the way: Love the "We were here" - part. Looking so much forward to shout along, when they come to Copenhagen 16. november....

Jesper Holm How lovely! :D Can't wait to rock with you ;)
Jesper Holm I must go there to...

Wow! You did such a great job!
Thank you so much for posting this. This version is much better, although i like better the first half of "the toolmaker" on the old video and the lyrics.
very good, saw them live in wembley. in the background they had vids of life and earth ect. yours is a good complilation. same as thiers really
this helped me understand the song better, thankyou

favorite song on the new cd.
between ghost love score and the greatest show on earth I am torn.
ForeverOfTheStars Same here. At the last concert I went to, I thought this was going to be their last song. But they played Ghost Love Score directly afterward. I am torn too! I guess it's a good thing we have more than one masterpiece to choose from.
Brilliant, Thank you, now where can I get strawberry's from.
The only pity - but the great one - is the resolution of the video - (480p) . Hope to watch it again in better quality!
beautiful video
I love Floor and Tarja! If I saw them doing a live duet I may just shart trow. Good thing I only saw Sharon and Anneke on screen.
Music is great! Video is better, than previous, but has to be worked on. Too many dinos and the part "We were here".. I don't think it's about apocalypse. All other parts fit great!
I thought there was going to be lyrics... It would be a good idea to add subtitles with the lyrics. Great video, though!
hey man! fantastic mixing! would you mind if i use it for a cover of this song? :)
+Franco Javier not at all :)
+Franco Javier where are you going to get the orchestra?
+Brad haha! You will see...! ;)
Just as a heads up synthesized double reeded instruments, ie oboes, bassoons, and English horns/Cor anglais do not sound remotely like the real thing. Speaking as an Oboist/English Horn player.
+Brad
Can you imagine how good it would sound if Nightwish had an actual orchestra backing them?
do one for gjost love score, I'm crying!
17:52 where does this come from?
+SunriseFestival The Tudors

I agree the first one is better, also the last explosion in the last "we were here" should be the explosion of the sun

John Greiner Very true. In fact, people have been breathing just a tiny bit longer than they have been praying.
Should have left the lyrics in..
The fast-forward feels unnecessary and distracting in many places in the video. Otherwise excellent.
