New Dual Fuel Hydrogen-Diesel Engine Technology

  • Diesel powered vehicles have long been the fuel of choice among four-wheel drives and commercial vehicles. Diesel technology has some great benefits, for instance they provide some great mileage on a tank, a diesel engine typically delivers 25 to 30 percent better fuel economy than similarly performing gasoline engines, you see Diesel fuel is one of the most efficient and energy dense fuels available today. Because it contains more usable energy than gasoline, it delivers better fuel economy. They are also super durable, Diesel engines are build to with stand high compression ratio’s and they are also build to deal with really high torque figures, as a result they tend to last longer.
    But unfortunately its not all good, diesel does have some less desirable qualities too which is why they are kind of dying out. I mean there are very few normal passenger vehicles still for sale using diesel power, and the biggest reason for this is because they are dirty. The only way it’s still viable is through the use of increasingly complex technologies to capture soot and reduce NOx, and yes there are some interesting techs out there which does just this, like the opposed piston engine, which I did make a video on. So if you want to see that video I will link it here. But all these technologies are still just a band aids, if regulations keep raising even they wont be viable for ever.
    But there is another way. Dual fuel engines using Diesel-hydrogen injection.

    Hydrogen is, in my opinion, the way forward and as we already have the ic technology, then diesel/hydrogen seems ideal for all ic engined vehicles, the problem with cars being available space for the hydrogen tank.

    Can be fit to existing systems....so how much is the conversion, what year vehicles are worth this, what type of classification and inspections are required, and with that being said the average owner operator will not be able to afford this conversion kit or the licensing to maintain it. It's all in the fine literature.

    I was going to post a video showing Meyer's older technology with some improvements added to it that I learned along the way while getting at the actual science behind the technology, but as fait would have it the pulsing circuit had a wire crossed that I didn't notice and fried the bridge rectifier. Once I have it replaced I'll move to post a new video showing a cell break the bonds of pure distilled water with no additives to the water just to show the just what this technology can do and how it beats normal electrolysis hands down as no salts, acids, or bases are needed to be added to the water to make it more conductive.
    Without those toxic things added to the water a cell made up of stainless steel will last for a very long time maybe in the range of hundreds or even thousands of years if taken care of properly and built with good materials.

    • @malcolmwhite6588
      @malcolmwhite6588 Год назад +2

      correct-but nor is diesel or gasoline flammable without oxygen. biggest issues with hydrogen is the extreme pressures required to store it in viable quantities, and very low ignition energy-also burns with a near invisible flame with therefore low radiant energy-i.e., you don't feel the heat until you are actually being burnt.

    Diesels become very difficult to start in cold weather (ask anyone doing start-ups on a construction site at 4am on a Feb morning. -5f_-25*f). I hope the hydrogen fuel mix would help mitigate that. If that alone was a positive to the fuel (low start temps), then you will see a Heck of a lot of sales of these conversion kits in the Northern States and Canada.

    From what I read on this elsewhere, they were able to alleviate the NOx emissions from the hydrogen side by directly injecting the hydrogen into the cylinder itself.
    So basically, as I understand it, the diesel replaces AdBlue/DEF & hydrogen is the diesel? Not in the same complex emissions system, but only in soon-to-be usage ratios

    There are many H2 fuel cells available super cheap. Since I learned this, 20 years of wasted technology😊 have gone by, while people are listening to video's that state that Htdrogen Storage tanks are required. You don't need to store hydrogen and mount tanks onboard for the budget systems.

  • @Dono.N

    Hydrogen is really not as hard or expensive to produce as people think it is. And if metal hydrides are used as a storage media it becomes safer to store than a pressure tank, but that's not a deal breaker, high pressure tanks have been developed nowadays that are nearly indestructible by normal standards.

      @@TheSilverShadow17 Well since Hydrogen doesn't contain carbon, overall CO2 is reduced if hydrogen is burned along with other hydrocarbons fuels like say diesel. But, since the the hydrogen requires the oxygen to burn, the peak in cylinder temps are now very high and with that the NOx is very high. Water injection is used to suppress high temps and minimize the NOx.

    Hmm actually Scania has a compression ignition engine that works on a fuel called ED95 i.e 95% Ethanol and 5% ignition additives? Automotive scientists had decided to test that engine and run on MD95 (95% Methanol) and an already clean engine burned even cleaner! The marine industry now has Methanol CI engines so instead of this we could have CI land/marine engines running on methanol produced from direct CO2 capture? this makes the "food vs fuel" debate (aka corn ethanol) moot/irrelevant ^^ Another alternative is a dual fuel MD95 + Hydrogen CI engine but with solid state hydrogen in paste/powdered form so even small 2-3 wheelers could run such propulsion engines w/o need of a high pressure H2 tank...
