As one of your subjects Vince, let me once again thank you for allowing me to undergo the cartharsis of airing my story publicly and for a long time due to the University keeping your book in their rare books collection. May this book, Gays in the Military, be your most outstanding achievement in your life. Thank you....my friend.
The biggest foe we can ever conquer is our ego. It keeps us enshrouded in lies, distrust, hate, intolerance, and separation. I don't know if it's even possible to feel our connection with one another until we shed this human form.
God commanded us to LOVE our fellow man but never to have carnal knowledge of a person we are not married to that is called fornication and God himself forbids us to marry our own gender. You can twist and change meanings all you like but you are not fooling God. Homosexuality is SIN, repent, Jesus told Nicodemus You must be born Again [reborn spiritually] to enter heaven.
@@marilynwillett804 It might be a good idea to remember that the tenets of Christianity are a polestar to guide those of the faith. Non-observers should not be expected to follow the precepts of a religion to which they are not bound by faith, nor should they face scrutiny. Being the best Christian you can be is a full time job...no time for critiquing those who live in consonance with their chosen ethos, simply because it's not the same as yours. And please, refrain from excusing yourself with a notion that it's your Christian duty to call out non-Christians on their lifestyle choices...if someone wants your opinion, they will tell you so.

Vince! I am so unbelievably proud of you for putting so much into this project. This had to be done and I am thankful it was done with someone with an incredibly open and loving spirit. Yes, it's true, we might not understand those who choose to join the military, but that doesn't mean we cannot connect with them fellow human beings. That is always there and that is what makes you a true documentary photography. Thanks for being proud and out and for doing something that will never be forgotten. Big hugs to you!
Thx a lot Sir! im still fighting for every minority , including , reluctantly: myself 🙂 (was bullied for being seemingly metrosexual, im not , but i dont want others to define who i am!!! ) StayProud. Thx 🏳🌈
When I was in the Army I read Conduct Unbecoming by Randy Shilts. When I was done reading it I donated it to the on base library. I hope they put it on their shelves.
Not afraid but the United States Military is not the place for challenged people! It puts others in danger, there is no fear just simply right vs wrong.
Hey Vincent. What an impactful oratory on a project so palpable: human dignity and truth to power; your total being was committed to it. Therefore, I imagine your subjects were very grateful for your telling there cathartic stories. Burroughs
It's disturbing. An obvious problem. I was just at the Nellis Club, Nellis AFB, NV watching a UFC event. There were active duty airman kissing and hugging each other right under a painting of General Robin Olds. The only ACE in Viet Nam. You could see the reaction of many other airman and the tension was palpable. The looks of disdain and low morale was very apparent. Heads being shook. The disgust was obvious but any negative comment or perceived slight is illegal and punishable under the UCMJ now same as if it were racism. Hence the open and visceral expression of man on man love. I'm glad I'm retired and don't have to lead and fight in that challenging atmosphere.

I’m a teacher, as long as you are quiet, and fit in their box, they say nothing....it’s a prison they put you in, that is the proverbial closet.
I recently saw a bitterly poignant headstone for a WWII vet-
"They gave me a medal for killing three men, and a discharge for loving one".
