Lonnie Mack was one of SRV's idols. One of the first songs Stevie practiced and finally nailed was Lonnie Mack's "Wham!"... after hearing the record. P.S.: I love that blues embraces the many sides of love... Including all love's secrets and truths, even to one's relationship with cookies. (I confess I mostly can take or leave Oreos... unless I get near those salted caramel ones. For those my heart definitely is singing Lonnie's lyrics. My biggest addiction, though, is Stevie Ray Vaughan. Just his name on my lips is sweet. I crave his music and his smile. All the while Stevie's filling me up, he's making room for more, and I can never get enough. But, unlike cookies, SRV adds to my soul... not my hips!)
Lonnie had a killer voice!! Stevie praised his guitar playing as well. They were very close off stage friends actually. On a unrelated note maaaan you gotta check out that Gary Moore lol I left you a link on the riviera paradise video
