I'm with you on that.... for me, it's such a monotonous hassle.... but I'm also cheap... and my cheapness outweighs all else (except my ineptitude)!!! 😆
@@DuanegerZone I’m cheap too usually it comes down to tool cost if I don’t have but this looks like it’ll need time I don’t have and patience I surely don’t have
@brentmagerowski7948 Patience and time are pretty important... One thing I've noticed (especially in my full bike build videos) is that my clothes change multiple times because I'm only working on the bike when I have time to squeeze it in.... And as far as "patience" goes, the main thing I'm cutting out of my videos while editing is when I cuss and throw shit because I'm so frustrated.... When I bleed brakes, you better believe I'm spilling fluid all over my garage... and I can't hold on to tiny pieces to save my life. And when I drop them I don't find them until two years later. 🤣
Great hub and perfect color choice too! My bike is also equipped with purple parts. By the way, your bike looks quite short, how long is the wheelbase?)
It is a Boost hub... only for 148mm rear triangle spacing. I changed it because I wanted more points of engagement. It's a much more responsive hub... it feels like immediate engagement... great for when you have to back pedal, then accelerate forward again.
The rim is a Raceface Arc 30 and has an internal width of 30mm. The tie is a 29er (29 inches) and it is a 2.5 inch width... so 29 x 2.5. Sorry for the delayed response... I didn't see this question till just now.
@@DuanegerZone le quedo bien ese neumatico 29x2.50 en el ancho interno de ese aro race face de 30 mm ? ningun problema ? que neumatico sera bueno maximo para un aro de 30 mm el ancho interno ?
How much better is the spank then the hope hubs I thought about getting the pro 5’s on my custom wheels but I’m starting to see reviews on the hex hubs I’m thinking I rather save me about $100 and get a complete spank wheelset
I feel like the spank hubs really engage quicker than the Hope Pro 4's... it feels immediate... Like when I have to backpedal to avoid a pedal strike, and then pedal forward again, it really feels like it catches instantaneously. That being said I really love the Hope Pro 4 hubs... But I haven't tried the Hope Pro 5's yet. I really don't think you can go wrong with any of them , but if it saves you a hundred dollars , I would definitely recommend the Spank Hex.
@@DuanegerZone ya I was looking at i9 hydras hope pro 5s my conscience is telling me to get the spanks, but I want the industry nine hydras which my wheels set alone is about $700 but with the I-9 hub it’s only 360 bucks on top of that so it’s about 1089 for the pair so I have some time to decide i just want hubs that engage with no play and reliability
Just not going to pay thousands of dollars to get that I think $1089 for spank 359 Vibrocore with i9 hydras should be worth it I’m just not sure how reliable it is the cost to repair if it’s needed less maintenance is what I’m looking for
@rollinrat4850 ya I didn’t know that about Chris king hubs awesome to know that they are that reliable but I’ve decided to try the hope pro 5 with spank 359 Vibrocore wheels to save some money I hear those wheels are very strong and durable and hope pro 5 hubs are as good as the i9 hydras for quite a bit less money and Poe but a lot less drag according to hope’s specs was their main goal to minimize drag on these hubs.
Yes, greater wear on the pawls as with heat it'll get even thinner. Grease also takes up a little bit of slack, allowing for a better tolerance. You can run oil, but just know it'll need more maintenance and have a shorter life.
@@Lancia444 Thanks for the heads up on more maintenance.... As much as I love to upgrade parts, I'm horrible at maintaining.... I'm what you might call a professional procrastinator.
nice bike and video man, I love the purple accent colors on your bike
I appreciate it... I do love those anodized purple components... something about that color just pops on mountain bikes... Thanks for watching!!!
@@DuanegerZone I too love me some anodized purple!
Wanted to change my hubs myself but the wheel building helped me decide this is worth paying someone.

That’s a good thing not as loud normally a loud hub creates a lot of friction and that will kill your hub from what I hear.

Thank you... I don't know why, but I'm hooked on the anodized purple components... they look so damn good! It has a 122 cm wheelbase.
por que la cambio ? esa maza spank es trasnformable a varias medidas de eje ?

U can use oil instead of grease to make it noisier.
