    I'd love to see a retro land. Its never been done, but if they take classics like Back to the Future, Kong, Jaws, Terminator, ET, and put all new tech into them keeping the spirit of the originals, I think it could be a big hit!

    I feel like Universal should use that Springfield space to bring back the Back to the Future Ride and possibly Jaws if they have enough space since nostalgia still sells and with how technology has progressed over these passed years, it would be a good opportunity to update their presentation to match up with their current rides

    If Disney didn't own Fox, the perfect replacement for Simpsons land would have been a Bob's Burgers themed area. You could have an actual Bob's Burgers restaurant to eat at, Wonder Wharf and maybe some sort of dark ride. It's not always the cheaper option to repurpose a building. Universal Creative famously regretted retheming parts of Lost Continent into Hogsmeade because it was too much of a hassle, creatively and logistically, and ended up being more expensive than it would've cost had they tore everything and started from the ground up.

Nickelodeon is very loose with who they work with, so making a whole land for IP that’s already in many other places wouldn’t make sense for them, as much as I wish they would do a land like that. Im reading through the comments and I'm surprised we don't have more Nintendo Pokémon theories. If they had to keep the sim it would work and Springfield literally looks like some of the towns from the games (Pokémon center , mart and gym) animal actors could also be used under the same ip. Pokémon is one of the most recognized ip's in the world and i couldn't think of a better way for universal to use it. Marvel island will have the same issue and could have the same solution with a different Nintendo property like a super smash bro. Great vid 👌 👍 👏

      Universal has until 2028 to decide what will happen with The Simpsons..... that's when the contract comes up....if they ARE going to replace it with Pokemon....and it takes some time to figure out how the new area will look, it would be great to put back BTTF for a limited time event....as for Marvel? No, Universal has those rights in perpetuity -in other words, FOREVER -unless, they do something against the contract that will cause it to break, or Disney will pay them to get out of said contract....but seeing as how Disney is doing, that doesn't seem likely 💜

    • @Courier_333
      @Courier_333 Месяц назад

      Universal owns the marvel rights. Spider-Man is the biggest, most profitable character at the entire resort.
      They're gonna renovate it before they destroy it.

  • @127dot0dot0dot1
    @127dot0dot0dot1 Месяц назад +2

    I agree with your thoughts on Disney's relationship with the Simpsons, it's a property that doesn't really fit... It's just like the period where they owned Power Rangers - they're not going to know what to do with it, I'm not even sure it would get a token parade reference like Power Rangers did.
    If Universal were forced to choose between The Simpsons and Marvel, I think they'd choose the Simpsons; and if Disney were forced to choose between taking all of Marvel and the Simpsons, I think they'd also choose Marvel.
    Marvel Super Hero Island is is is even less elevated than The Simpsons's land; its facades are easily replaced, Universal could lsap a new IP in there without much effort. OTOH Disney knows what it's doing with Marvel, and for some characters, has rides ready to go into production for use on the US East Coast.

    • @Courier_333

      Universal should try keeping both because they don't own any IP anywhere close to as good as them

  • @Random_Eebs
    @Random_Eebs Месяц назад +3

    The Simpsons Land is fun, I agree, but I also start to wonder if the IP itself is worth keeping. It’s 100% gonna be nostalgic for many, but for the newer generation I don’t see how that’s gonna stay relevant. Putting something like Pokémon there would be a more marketable addition for the park. Studios is easily the worst of the three parks so seeing it get a makeover and cut rip ride, mib, and maybe even ET is ideal. I actually got my first and only ever ride breakdown on that. But I feel modernizing the rest studios like how they did with dreamworks taking woody woodpecker land would be a good fit for the Simpsons land. On the other hand, I feel like if universal really wanted to go all out they could axe rip ride rocket, et and some of Simpsons and put a massive headlining attraction for studios with something like a crazy huge b&m giga/strata or intamin strata/exa, but that’s really unrealistic. I’ve only been to the resort once in 2022 and islands was much better in my opinion.

    • @SmallSpoonBrigade
      @SmallSpoonBrigade Месяц назад

      Yep, and without a really strong ride, all you've got is nostalgia.That being said, Splash Mountain was built after the last time that SotS was screened or available on home media in the US, by a fair bit. The younger of us that had seen the movie when it was available, are now likely in our 40s or 50s. Which is probably part of why it was so easy for some idiots that hadn't actually seen the movie to insist that the ride had to go, even though other more objectively racist things related to Davy Crockett are still there.
      That being said, I wouldn't really expect that The Simpsons will disappear that quickly from popculture. It's still being made, streamed and is available on home media. So, even when the show is canceled, or too many of the cast and crew are retired to continue, it will likely remain in the pop culture through those home media and streaming views for quite some time. And unlike SotS, The Simpsons is good independent of a soundtrack that can be sold on CD without the controversial aspects.

    MIB (like Simpsons) are on the nominations to be cut. Add the empty stadium and a piece of the backlot area that currently is in process to be reconfigured and you can add a huge land. If you take the Simpson's area alone you could add the delightful Secret Life of Pets dark ride easily.

      @Ihartwalrusguy but Universal is their largest theme park competitor. So they will charge a crap ton of money to let their largest competitor have a property they own. Especially with the fact that Universal controls theme park rights to their largest individual property, Marvel. So, Universal will have to weigh how much they make off of Simpson merchandise and food sales vs the licensing cost. Disney could offer Simpson cheap, but I think that would only happen if Universal gives up Marvel. Which would be a lot harder to replace as a land.

    I think the bigger reason that the ride remains is that they're not going to put a new Simpson's themed ride into a land that might not last more than a few more years. So, if they took it out, it would mean no rides at all in that land or a super cheap ride that could be paid for before they lose the rights. If they do opt to renew, then we likely would see a new ride as that would make some financial sense.

    Simpson's is Americana. How could you destroy it?

    Honestly, I think it would be nice to scrap it and turn it into a nice garden area with picnic tables, benches, and lots of green grass. I think Theme Parks underestimate the power of just having....space. Space for folks to gather and breathe without having to stand around a trash can or a tiny dark corner of the park. This is especially true as Universal expands and becomes more of a "multi-day" park. It's nice to have an area to breathe during a long park day without any popular attractions or reasons for giant crowds to gather.

    I’m pretty sure Disney would just hike up the licensing fees for the Simpsons to coax Universal into giving up the rights.

      that’s if disney even lets them renew, they hate each other 😭

      Last year, that's what I would have expected. However, Disney badly needs any revenue they can get to offset things like the Snow White debacle and the drop in park attendance.

    although I enjoy Transformers and Simpsons I don't think there a single thing worth keeping at current Universal Studios besides Diagon Alley, which also just so happens to book end the park with a convenient backdoor tram meaning it wouldn't have to close if they redid the entire front of the park.

    It was a fun and understandable redo back in the late 2000s… But now it’s tired… Long in the tooth… And all the land itself is OK, the ride is just awful. I really would like to see the whole area dozed in some exciting attraction or land built in its place.

      IMHO, the ride is the biggest issue. The land itself remains fun, but without a really solid ride to anchor it, there's not much point. Although, it is kind of fun to finally be able to try the real world equivalent of some of the Simpson's food.

    Holy christ, the later seasons are not that bad, you have just seen the bad episodes. Every season has at least one great episode. The most recent seasons have been highly regarded. This overreactionary nonsense about a great show becoming an average to pretty good show has ruined the entire discourse of the series.

      here is my take: seasons 1-15 are the best, 16-20 are not as funny but still good tv, 20-28 are watchable but i get bored at times, 28 beyond is where I started dropping off the show.
