There is a fan made show called 'Red Vs Blue' which i'd also recommend........I initially though it was a purile kid's series, BUT i have to give them credit where it's due at least for the first few seasons, And i think it's series five has an incredible sci-fi story that i'd say rival's 'Blade Runner' & 'Ghost in the shell'....👍
Halo 2's story is genuinely one of the best Halo stories ever told, even to this day
I think this is one of the best opening scenes in the Halo series. On one side, one is celebrated for his heroics and actions.. while the other is getting humiliated and tortured for his failure. The story is just awesome.
I felt like I was thrown into the middle of a movie, loved it!
Growing up as a playstation kid with xbox friends, it was rough hearing them all chatting about halo and how much fun they had the other night playing with each other. I picked up MCC on PC a few years ago and played it for the first time. Man, I can only imagine how much better it would have been to play with friends as a kid.
Im sorry you missed the magic that was halo split-screen parties. Either campaign or multiplayer on a 14 inch box tv with a couple friends, were responsible for the best times of my life. Even online, matchmaking was set up in a way that promoted brief interactions with strangers, were either hilarious trashtalk sessions or lifelong bromances were made.
Always played through them with my brother, it was perfect childhood

The human "Autumn" like ship is a Marathon Class Heavy Cruiser (newer version of the Halcyon, of which the Pillar of Autumn is one).

Yes, there is a London Orbital Defense Platform. They're in geostationary orbit approximately above the city they are named after.
The device on the back of his head is a Command Neural Interface (CNI). It allows command authorisation and critical data to be uploaded and downloaded from his brain.
(Spartans have similar devices that help them use their suits called Spartan Neural Interfaces) (detailed in the Spartan-II Augmentation Most Detailed Breakdown).

Master chief is such a badass. I love when chief asks lord hood for permission to leave the station and his look when he hears his plan.
Edit: 39:00 this game has I think 90mins of cinematics. The corridor crew made a review on the cinematics with one of the people who made them. And they had only 8 to 9 months to do all these cutscenes in this quality. I have to say, the base work was done by bungie. Their cinematics were awesome back then, but blurr still had to animate all of this and improve some things that are outdated by nowadays standards.
Your response to the new mechanics is perfect. Dual wielding was such a big deal, bungie displayed it on the cover of the game, and we all lost our minds! Also, Halo goes hard af on the scenery, so don't be afraid to take a moment.
Oh master chief has built in Zoom in his helmet now, so he can zoom whenever, but only guns with scopes will STAY zoomed in.

I cant tell you the nostalgia i get from when i got this game at midnight on a school night. Some of my most memorable childhood moments are from this game and the friends i made on xbox live

this was my go-to game to relax to, have fun in local co-op with friends on a couch/bed; zone out of any worry, while i was a teenager/young adult... Good times.
I'm looking forward to the next video! Halo 2's cinematics are awesome! I grew up playing this game and it's so cool seeing you get into the Halo trilogy!

The battle rifle is an instant classic, the sound (as you pointed out) is so satisfying. Love that you're quickly trying out all the new weapons, sad you didn't get to try out the new needler. Great playthrough and your enthusiasm is infectious!

Well you earned a new subscriber. Just went through your Halo CE videos and watched this afterwards. This game (having played and recorded it myself lots of times) never ceases to amaze me, neither does watching someone play the franchise for the first time. Halo 2 is the very best in the franchise, though Halo 3 and Halo Reach are also amazing. Best of luck in the future, and most importantly, have fun! :)
I love how the opening cutscene juxtaposes Master Chief's victory with the Covenant Admiral's failure. It's such a great way to start off this epic story. I appreciate that you caught the Athens and the Malta exploding outside the windows, a lot of people tend to miss that! Your framing of the game continues to be cinematic!
On the mechanics side, dual wielding is awesome, but yes, as you've discovered has its limitations (you can't throw grenades or melee). And yes, you can't ADS on most weapons still, it just lets you zoom in with your visor. Only weapons that show the fire reticle when you're zoomed in let you fire that way. This is a Halo thing and will continue this way for most of the games (CoD wasn't the industry standard for gunplay at this point).
Halo 2 was a game changer in the video game industry. The campaign brought the hype for sure, but the real sea change was the fact that it ushered in the era of Xbox Live which allowed people to play multiplayer from all over the world in a single big network. It may seem ordinary today, but this was truly revolutionary at the time. Millions of people continued to make memories and connections for years after this game's release because of that. I personally hopped on the train just after Halo 3 came out, but we're not quite there yet! ;)
P.S. The studio that did the cutscenes for the Anniversary Edition is Blur Studio. They are an incredible group of artists and most recently worked on the video game related TV series Secret Level.
Nope, Halo 2's campaign always pissed on the multiplayer for me as i was never interested in multiplayer and i believe they should be seperate.
Also, Halo has always been a campaign fist, multiplayer secound. Why are you trying to change that?
@@Notevenallowedtoburnwood I not really sure what you're trying to say with this comment? Halo 2's multiplayer was extremely influential, regardless of your personal experience... I mean, personally, I like the campaign of the game more than the multiplayer, but it doesn't change that the multiplayer was way more influential in the gaming industry. It literally made Xbox Live what it is today.
Additionally, at the time of release, Halo 2's campaign was actually pretty divisive. I won't go into specifics since I don't want to spoil things for PhoenixNat, but one particular aspect of the campaign and the ending both were viewed with much ire by a good portion of the fanbase. Over time, almost everyone has come around and now view it as a classic (or even a masterpiece) campaign, but it absolutely was not universally loved when it first came out.
My favorite Halo! The story is just soo well written. What can I say? It's peak cinema.

HALO 2: anniversary is a masterpiece thanks to thoes cinematics and that it honors the atmosphere of the OG game in gameplay and level design.
The OG HALO 2 graphics were a downgrade however from that of HALO: CE's, but the story got so expanded, emerged and added so much more gameplaywise it made up for it and became one of the best HALO games.

With some weapons that don't have a scoped zoom, the function is more like binoculars- so when you shoot those guns, like the shotgun for example, it takes you out of the zoom
Handy, but also an odd choice, I could use that to help me aim 😂
How the Covenant and Master Chief came into being are great story arcs in themselves.

4:00 no there is a difference btw armor version and spartan version, Master Chief is a Spartan 2 and in the first game he was wearing MJOLNIR Mark V and now he is in a MJOLNIR Mark VI

SMG + Plasma Rifle and SMG + Needler are such a blast to play with.
And with the battle rifle being available, I only pick up the assault rifle in emergencies.
Not having them in Halo 1 is the saddest part of replaying that game again.

Hey Nat great video, this really does look like a movie, but there are a few Halo movies, the gameplay looks really smooth, the duel wielding is a lot of fun, have been enjoying watching this series a lot, hope you have a nice day , also been looking into turning off the prompts apparently they don't show up on Heroic, hope this helps
The cities mentioned are the names of the Defence Platforms (or capital ships) rather than the actual Earth cities.
23:24 tht is iron sights it helps with aiming down sights if you could aim down sight like Call of Duty

I'd recommend reading a couple of the books while, if you are in to reading. Fall Of Reach gives a background for the Master Chief and the events leading up to the start of Halo 1. First Strike gives a story of the part between 1 and 2.

@@PhoenixNat These books won't spoil anything. Obviously, Fall of Reach coincides with the game, Halo: Reach, but the stories don't intertwine. You can at least start with those without concern :)

Not all weapons have ads zoom , so when you zoom in w a smg or shotgun ur seeing the pov of chief’s visor.
You said that Master Chief is massive he is. He stands 7 feet tall and weighs 1000 pounds in his armor

The track at 20:00 is called Jeweled Hull, the remastered version is good but the original version on the original graphics is incredible. This mission is one of my personal favorites in Halo 2.

31:20 can't hold the zoom because it's not an actual scoped weapon, the sniper will hold the zoom in when shooting. sometimes you have to kill all the enemies in the area before you can move on, like this instance, soon as you kill the bugs, the bottom door opens. i started Halo 2 as well yesterday, but i can't change the button layout i like to use. i have to figure something out.
Halo 2 really is a friggin epic movie 😅 my absolute favorite in the franchise. Enjoy!!!!

- I'm not sure why you're feeling a disconnect with your melees - I've never had that problem in Halo 2. Maybe it's something with MCC on PC?
- Only weapons with a scope can be fired while using "ADS". The zoom in feature on all other weapons is Master Chief's "binoculars", and the zoom-in is removed when the weapon is fired.
- There is no more health bars in Halo 2, though you do have a buffer of invisible health when your shields drop before you die.
- The Halo games love to have "in-game cutscenes", where things happen during play (such as the destruction of the space stations). Keep your eyes open ;)

every game has different settings and controls bcz some of them have different features that interact w dif keys, so at the start of every game you should check to make sure you're all set

@@PhoenixNat One other tip, if I may? I'm not sure you bumped into one of the new mechanics that 2 adds in this first level, but you can trade weapons with the marines (provided your second weapon isn't the same as what they're carrying because you can't have two of the same).
There aren't any power weapons on the first level anyway, but from here out, it's often worth giving them any sniper rifle that's running low. Rocket launcher for the warthog passenger is another good strat.

Just to give context the Prophet of Regret found a Forerunner artifact called the Ilinmanary which lead them to a planet to another artifact in a another planet they didnt know what planet
Essentially they just packed up to go on a treasure hunt and didnt know thy were going to their enemies home world 😆😆😆
the "ads" on most the weapons is more like having binoculars, its just a zoom with no real aiming capability, and just a small, non spoiler note, they barely give any context to in game, (its covered better if you read the books), the elite in the cutscenes is Thel Vadamee, he was the commander of the covenant forces you fought against in the first game

Only weapons with scopes allow ads. All the other weapons you're just zooming in with your visor. You also don't have a health bar in this game so no med packs.

There is no health in this game. Only shields. One less thing to worry about.
Also, in almost every Halo game, you get forced out of your Aim-Down-Sights when you take even the slightest damage with some weapons like the sniper rifle and battle rifle. I don't know why it does that when you shoot with the shotgun and the SMG though.
The smg and etc weapons have no zoom it is just the suit visors' Binoculars.

You should play on hard mode. You are to skilled for normal mode and hard mode is fun and will test your skills..

You may not know it, but you're able to toggle to OG graphics in the cutscenes as well, not just gameplay. The OG cutscenes look ROUGH lol.

Shields are bottom left, my heads in front of weapon and ammo, so I’ll nudge down next time 👍🏼
Forward unto Dawn and Halo Legends are my recommendations. In my opinion, the paramount tv show is horrible and veers too much from the lore.
