The South African Weather Service (Saws) has warned that very cold, wet and windy conditions will continue across South Africa this week and snow is reported in some areas.
Saws said snow will fall in parts of the Free State, North West, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape and Western Cape.
The Eastern Cape transport department (EC) on Monday warned road users to exercise extreme caution when crossing mountain passes in the province, as snowfall continues to affect road conditions.

South Africa has experienced snow every winter since time immemorial. Yes, some years are worse than others, but there is nothing newsworthy here. The coastal flooding is a disaster that needs attention, but this is totally misleading.
I'm in my 30s and my mum always talks about how bad the snow storm was during my 1st birthday and we had snow every year since. Snow is nothing new for south Africa but the seasons are changing, winter is becoming longer, in Sept last year alot of the snow fell also the coldest Day of the year was in south Africa was record in october

It IS winter season in the southern hemisphere . .
Some parts of South Africa experience snow every winter. Parts of the Eastern Cape, KZN, Western Cape, Lesotho and Northern Cape experience regular snowfall. There are ski resorts in some parts.
Some places even got their names because of the snow, ie. Sneeuberg, Winterton etc.
It’s not uncommon to see snow in these areas.
So it’s nothing to stress about.
