A lot of people mentioning that MJ gave his blessing for them to cover this song, but what's even more than that is that AAF sent him the finished Video before releasing it to make sure he was okay with everything in that too.
He said he loved it but wasn't sure about the kid wearing the mask while dancing, so they reshot that kids entire part, extras and all, and sent him the edited version and he said after some though he actually preferred the mask version lol.
So not only did he give the okay for them to cover the song, but at their request he also gave his blessing for the video itself :)

It’s ok that it’s not new. It’s new to you. Us Xennials rocked hard in the 90s and early 2000s. Some awesome rock and hip hop music during that time.

AAF are one of those underrated bands (they’re still producing btw) sadly though they had to reshoot the video because the kid doing the dancing got bullied REALLY badly because of it. My fave is *Wish* by *AAF*

I remember seeing this when it first came out. Then I started to pick up all the MJ references
If you closely throughout the video there are easter eggs paying homage to MJ. I have counted 23 easter eggs how many can you find? Also, Alien Ant Farm were huge fans of Mj and contacted him and asked if they could do a cover and then later came back and asked if they could do a video. They asked how personal they could get and MJ just said let them do whatever. Now, when Mj first saw the video he liked everything except the kid wearing the mask. He thought it made fun of his illness and asked for it to be taken out. So there is actually a video floating around without the kid in it but then MJ saw it again and told them to go ahead and keep him in.
As a Michael fan I never minded this song because they did a different take on it. Not like a straight cover which would never, ever compare to the original.

Some people absolutely hate this cover, and I can't really understand why. A lot of Michael Jackson music has pretty hard guitar and bass lines. This cover plays homage just perfectly in my opinion. And I'm a huge MJ fan.
Absolutely one of the top covers. However, I have to say that Disturbed covering Sound of Silence and Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt are slightly better in my opinion. And I generally do not like covers. But those 3 are the exception to my rule.

You're close, but billie Jeane, by Michael Jackson and covered by Chris Cornel, is the greatest cover.
This isn't a cover my young friend. It is the greatest tribute to MJ that I've ever heard.
Is a very good cover and I can't stand Michael Jacksons stuff. I find myself jamming on this one though. Great video the way they show all of the Jackson past stuff incorporated into it.
