  • Here's my review of the 100 Watt JBL PartyBox Encore Bluetooth Speaker. With two wireless microphones this speaker is an amazing at home karaoke system.

I have 2 of these and they sound amazing for such a small speaker! It's very nice to hear a LONG and DETAILED review from a Pro Audio engineer! I just found this video right now - their are reviews out there that do not contain this info about HOW the m8cs sound and the nuances about it.

Can you connect other microphones to it ?
or will it only pair with the ones it comes with ?

Imo, this probably one of the most practical in the party box series. Soundwise it beats the Encore essential and the 110....wait, did he just say the 110? Yep, even beats the 110 for clarity. Yes the 110 is louder with more bass but the Encore has better clarity overall. I wouldn't pair this with the Essential version as you will have a very noticeable imbalance in sound quality. I think JBL tuned this more for vocals like the 710 which might given reason for the better clarity over the 110 and Encore Essential.

Hi Brian, very interesting video. I need something for karaoke at home for my wife who loves to sing. Here in Italy the encore cost 290 euro with only 1 mic 😅. I like the jbl because i can enjoy also for listening some music. But i've 2 question: for the same price maybe a couple of normal cabled speaker from Yamaha or Bose or else can deliver a better sound quality (without karaoke ofc)??
Can i use this speaker cabled or i will ruin the battery?
    Thanks a lot

Well that's a bummer it only comes with one mic! The JBL is a pretty awesome speaker. I'm very happy with it. I was just practicing a new song on it last night. Finding an alternative is a tough one though. If you go to Yamaha or Bose you'll be stepping up from a consumer grade JBL to a pro grade speaker. I have a Yamaha Stagepas 200 BTR but it's double the price. A Bose S1 Pro is more comparable in price but still more expensive. I'm not sure what all you have for available speaker brands in Italy but you could look for something like an Ion Audio Pro Glow Ultra or even something like the Ion Audio Block Rocker: amzn.to/3Hch7K5 I don't think it will be comparable to the JBL sound quality wise but it is a cheaper alternative. As for the battery you can run it plugged in but I wouldn't recommend keeping it plugged in all the time. The battery lasts a really long time anyways. I bought the JBL in late November and I'm still on it's first charge. I think over time if you didn't let the battery charge and discharge you'd kill the battery life faster. I know I tend to destroy my laptop batteries by leaving my laptop plugged in on my desk all the time. Also I will note that there are some good Italian speaker manufacturers like RCF and FBT but I don't think they make anything similar. They are both really expensive brands in the USA but maybe they are less expensive when you buy them locally in Italy. FBT does have the Amico system but that's probably overkill for what you're looking for. Good luck and let me know if you buy something different!

@@brian_bingham Hi thanks for the answer, for sure I'll take the JBL encore. I already have the jbl flip 4 and i'm very happy with that. I think the encore is a big upgrade for the sound quality🙂!!! I will not use it plugged-in, the battery it's ok for me. Just I'm worry if something happens to the only mic😅...

Awesome! I'm glad to hear it. Still too bad they only give you one mic though. I wonder if you can add a second one later if you want two? Also awesome that you were in the concert production biz! I actually have another channel on RUclips called: TheAngrySoundTech That's where I talk about pro audio gear. I actually make my living as a sound tech. Mostly corporate events these days but I did do some concerts back in the day. I started this channel recently as more of an open format talk about whatever I want whereas my other one is strictly pro audio.

Hello Bryan, could you connect this party box to the tv to watch the karaoke lyrics with you tube?
Maybe connect your phone to the party box and the tv ?

There is a headphone jack aux in on the party box. So as long as you have some sort of output on your TV that you could convert to a headphone jack your set!
