It's good to know that no ship girls were harmed making this.
But thousands of sailors died, so yippee...
@@road-eo6911 ***they're expendable***
@@road-eo6911 because their protect their waifu
"it is not nice to ask a girl's weight you know"
Ah yes, of course, all i can say is that they broke the naval treaty limit
Just in weight and by 1942 practically everyone already did in more then just weight.
Naval treaty? Pffttt
*2nd Most shittiest treaty in history after Versailles...*
@@bakaweiner6956 Everything's fair in love and war...
Until it isn't.
Then you have to make treaties to keep things "fair" for everyone
Yes, our cruisers are definitely 10K ton and we are not lying out of our asses, what would make you think that
@@TheRealJohnux the allies only broke the treaty after germany already broke the treaty.
Damn. The story is actually pretty tragic and sad...
...and its 10 TIMES MORE SAD WHEN THEY REVEAL AS WAIFU GIRLS!!!
Nuqmanime Rem vs Toy Chica I agree
No worries, bismarck in AL was deemed worthy when she received the power of the dark sun
I’m not crying........though who the hell am I kidding we’re all crying
"They did what!?"
Then they commence a literally full attack on Bismarck.
Every school should put this kind of video in history class.
Some notes: Not all of Bismarck's crew called her a "he". The captain very much wanted them to do it, it's a famous quote from a rant at the end of a speech he held.
Bismarck wasn't quite the heaviest battleship ever built in Europe, as her sister, Tirpitz, and HMS Vanguard were both a bit over 2000t heavier. There's also the two Queen Elizabeth class carriers that were built fairly recently and are over 10k tons heavier as well as the 3 carriers of the russian Kuznetsov class that outmass Bismarck by a bit under 10k tons.
You described the Battle of the Denmark Strait as a 2 vs 2 battle of capital ships, but Prinz Eugen was not a capital ship.
"Speed is armour" was never a prevailing theory in Hood's construction. Even for the very first battlecruisers that did have very lackluster armor, that wasnt because their speed was somehow expected to protect them in battle, rather because their speed would allow them to pick and choose fights against opponents that wouldnt be able to pose a noteworthy threat, such as cruisers.
The turn in no way exposed Hood's deck armour, it actually reduced the chance for a hit on the deck armor. It exposed her belt armor however, which was intended, as Holland knew that Hood's small, but very thick belt would have a better chance of protecting her than her deck, which is one of the reasons he wanted to close the range quickly.
It is not known how exactly the killing blow was landed on Hood, but it almost certainly did not pass through the deck, as it would be practically impossible to penetrate at that range and even less likely to find its way to the magazines deeper in the ship. There are however various theories on what may have happened, though a deck penetration is one of the least likely.
Re-reading it, this came out way too passive-aggressive. I only focused on details I decided to nitpick in my first comment, but overall this is definitely great work.
Thanks for the great insight, I might add some revisions in the follow up video from the couple of points you mentioned!
I think the captain just want to penetrate things in the right order lol
Fairly long comment about naval history you got going. About the thing with were the Hood was hit. There is a legitimate Documentary on youtube "Why was the Hood sunk so easily" is the title of the Video If I remember correctly. They Made a voyage to the Denmark Strait and found the remains of Hood. They could savely point out which exact Magazine was hit and how lucky the shot must have been. Because to reach the Magazine through the Deck, the shell had to bounce of on the inside maybe once or twice. Also the Crew of that Documentary failed to Retrieve the shipbell. Which is also kinda sad.
@@TheRealJohnux There's an excellent article over at navweaps by Nathan Okun that goes into great detail for some of the various theories. It's a great read of you have some time to burn.
And yeah, it was definitely a one in a million shot considering the range and position the ships were in.

British moment
The U-556 and Bismarck part really hit the feels
the intro made me shed a tear
Curse you Azur Lane for making me fall in love with warships and tear up while watching this masterpiece.
If Yostar decides to make a more serious themed anime they better hire you. This is amazing!
An Azur Lane historical war drama themed anime with a bit of action would be interesting to watch.
@@SonicFanDU Basically you're average historical video but the AL shipgirls replace the irl battleships and such so it's more painful to watch as you see your favourite shipgirl get sunk
1:07 Ah it looks like it's beginning to rain...
And yes a 10x better history channel
After the Scherzo of Iron and Blood event having just recently passed, the drawing is the saddest part of this story
I don't know if it was intentional or by mistake but "Luftwaffe" isn't written "Luftwaffle" (Timestamp: 3:08) but it is really funny to imagine the "Luftwaffe" actually being airborne waffles with guns and such. And the British RAF being biscuits. Keep on making these great videos!
Yes it was a mistake sadly haha!
this video is a good way to learn about naval history :D
This story is tragic and for some reason in this version I feel it is even more so, a detail that always caught my attention in this story is that the Royal Navy did not forgive Bismarck, they gave him everything they had until sank.
Eye per eye
Because the embodiment of their ego got teabagged by Bismarck...
LOL
1:10 Funny and Sad at the same time...
I won’t ask for an update on the series since I already did a while back; instead I sincerely hope that D For Dragon is ok; this series has so much potential and I hope it does get revisited in the future, but I’d rather hear that the channel’s creator is all right.
Thanks for checking in on me! I'm totally fine :) It's just that I haven't got much spare time to dedicate to video making like before due to circumstances. I hope to continue Chibi History eventually later this year if things go well.
My suggestion for the next history : Shinano last voyage
she is sunk, end of story
Just like her Yamato class sisters
Just like all of my cubes
Too soon. I mean it is recent, but fairly known, as the Event Made it clear, Shinano Made it clear and nearly everyone in Chat already knew that Shinano irl was a joke. The Last Battle of the Scharnhorst or the Mediterranian Sea and what was going on there. Much more Action.
She's not a UR for her actual strength as much as for her new-big-ship-lol factor. The Shoukaku carriers designs were far more advanced, carrying far more planes for less weight and at far greater, since they weren't converts, and importantly, reletively slow battleship converts. At least the Yamatos were well generally powerful, well designed ships for their purpose, that they would never get to meet.
This is so cute and sad at the same times :(
Bismarck VS Almost the entire Royal Navy :'v
We need an AL version of USS Johnston so you can recreate the Battle off Samar when Yamato and her escorts got turned around by destroyers, destroyer escorts, and light carriers.
USS Jhonston better be an UR because that's the only rarity good enough for her and the badasses on board
Oh, how could I forget. We also need Yamato herself to be in AL.
@@kazekizu we just got Shinano who was a Yamato class converted to a carrier. But i want to see Yamato or Musashi.
While USS Johnston May be the “star” of a Battle off Samar video, you can’t properly make one without all members of Taffy 3;
You’d need 3 Fletcher class destroyers (Johnston, Hoel, Heermann), 4 John C Butler Class Destroyer Escorts (John C Butler, Samuel B Roberts, Dennis and Raymond), plus 6 Casablanca class escort carriers (Fanshaw Bay, St Lo, White Plains, Kalinin Bay, Gambier Bay and Kitkun Bay)
Not to mention, Samuel B Roberts has a pretty good story too; there’s a good reason this one is remembered as the “Destroyer Escort that fought like a battleship” in Naval lore
Good work! I am looking forward to part 2.
If only music copyrights wasn’t an issue... “Sink the Bismarck” by Johnny Horton (1960) would be a good way to cover about 3 1/2 minutes of the video in part 2
That aside, great presentation, looking forward to the next installment.
Side note btw: “After numerous requests from his officers, Admiral Lutjens ordered both ships to fire on Hood” puts it politely, believe it or not.
By some accounts, it was Captain Lindemann who actually ordered to fire first; the admiral’s hesitation for giving the order reportedly caused Lindemann to declare “I will not have my ship be shot out from under my ass!” And thus, Lindemann gave the order to open fire
(Sorry for language; but that’s the exact quote)
Indeed! It was Bismarck who return fire to Hood first and only then Lütjens would order both ships to fire.
F for the hood; i cryed. I was doing stuff in parallel but had to stop and watch your video. Great work.
Another awesome vid that takes my tear :((.
Looking forward to the 1vs65 battle.
I have the feeling you will be covering the Battle of Midway in the future of this series.
Perhaps this may be of some help to you: a RUclips channel called Montemayor put out a brilliant 3-part video series covering the battle, providing a wealth of information. Now obviously you’ll be making your video as you see in your vision, but I think that series is worth checking out; could be useful in terms of finding important talking points that may otherwise be overlooked.
Again, best of luck in the future installments
Thanks for the recommendation, I will definitely check it out!
SUPER NICE, having this as a source for my history project!
This is way more better than any history channel or history books.😅😅
It didn't take much time to know and learn everything...
Should have used Sabaton's Bismarck for the BGM starting at the beginning of the Operation Rheinubung segment (They don't seem to mind it, copyright-wise). Otherwise, it's a well done video. Here's a toast for more videos.
Btw, the game events imo have lots of materials for future videos. I personally interested in many of them (and then subsequently read them), including Divergent Chessboard (aka Operation Tungsten and the fate of Tirpitz), The Pursuit of Graf Spee (''sad Deutchland noises''), Strive, Wish, and Strategize (The sinking of Force Z), and Starry Skies Above the Fjord (aka Battle of Narvik), just to name a few. And ofc we have the Pasific campaign, which you have done beautifully starting with the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Once again, kudos.
Enjoying these history reenactments in Chibi form. Will we get part 2 for the new Iron Blood event coming up soon? One can only hope, but then again, it is the holidays and the channel creator (he?) might be busy.
The combination of history and cuteness is too much..AaaA
10:57 : *We gotta sink the Bismarck was the battle sound*
*But when the smoke had cleared away the mighty Hood went down*
This is better than history channel
I tear up every single time I read about what happened, the magazine explosion of Hood, the hunt of the Bismarck, the unfulfilled promise of U-556... And the amount of lifes lost on this conflict. It is very tragic. :(
Great video by the way.
Thank god, now i know what kind of friendship between bismark & U556
I thought it just that bismark giving her ceremony ribbon to U556
thank a lot, i looking forward for this kind of content
Great way of storytelling by this chibi, love alot
Tbh, I almost cried when playing the scherzon of iron n blood's event...
I cried the first time I played, i got Bismark there and was my first shipfu to reach 120 just playing that event
LOVE these videos! And thank you for slowing down the text for slow readers like me. I really enjoy these. Thank you for making them!
As always. Thanks for your content brother 🙏
From South East Asia 👍
Very nice work
This is super cool! Pretty tragic, too...
Another very nice video, a refreshing lesson on the days before the last battle of Bismarck. Even depicted in cute chibis, the story itself is sad and inevitable. Like your disclaimer no ship girls were harmed in making this, ha.
Look forward to the later part.
Chibi history is so good!
when the world needed him most, he vanished
*After the sinking of Hood*
Churchill: Send.. in.. everyone.
Comms officer: Which one?
Churchill: EVERYONE!
Misspelled Bismarck at 3:55 :P
Definitely liking the way these lil history lessons are done
tq made this history series
I love your work. I want to see them reenact the battle of Midway
CUTE SHIP GURLS + GREAT HISTORY = EPIC (Makes me wanna listen ok my History class)
MAN I LOVE THIS HISTORYS really i love it pls do more❤️❤️❤️
Good video!
1:13 "Thank you, U-5 *6* 6"
Good thing she didn't notice.
ah yes the man of culture of ateliers ost is here
This is amazing! Hope you got plans to cover Battle of Midway!
Finally
Ironblood VS Royal Navy
Thank you
Love your video ❤❤
I have a request: Graf Spee history
Nice
always.. cool video d for dragon
i hope in future you make chibi history about the battle of leyte gulf.... perhaps after musashi and yamato appear in azur lane
Knowledge to elevate
this is nice
8:12 Slight nitpick, Hood was quite well armored, and Bismarck and her shared similar speeds. Battlecruiser vs battleship conventions become less useful when most capital ships of the era were different shades of well rounded apart from some like the scharnhorsts or the ww1 era capital ships. Cute vid tho.
You are right! I was mainly referring to Hood vs Bismarck in that sentence, should have been more clear.
Fun fact: A cat was rescued from the Bismarck and was put on another ship (probably Ark Royal) which also sank when he was onboard.
Ah, the great Unsinkable Sam. Probably the most badass cat out there
Oskar, the Unsinkable Sam. Even brought misfortune onboard British Destroyer Cossack & Ark Royal.
Is part 2 out yet? I love your work!
PRIDE OF A NATION, A BEAST MADE OF STEEL
Bismarck's sinking was the absolute definition of overkill.
cant wait for you to do coral sea and midway
actual genius that someone thought of using chibis as presentation for teaching history
0:10 yes/no, in German ships are gender neutral by default, there where plenty of people at the time who called Bismarck a she, even among Bismarck's crew (whenever the captain was out of earshot)
Nice video for naval history, though I can't help but think you are an 'Atelier' series fan as well, with many of the video i watch using their BGM and all.
Indeed! Atelier games have the best soundtracks.
@@DforDragon That they do
Hood is really the most beautiful ship, not even lewdable
Would be interesting if they had made Bismarck a ship boy...
But then our character the shikikan wouldnt have a harem
Wouldn’t change a thing, shikikan would find a way
Trap or not if there is a --hole-- will, there is a way
MUHΔZRΣΣΠ MΔZLΔΠ Yee!!!!
A tomboy would have been fine.
Lovely depiction of the tragic & heroic story
Event rerun when xD
I thought the Certificate of Sponsorship and the band stuff was just done by the game to add more emotional weight
But after seeing this, with also a quick check on the wiki, knowing it was indeed true made me more sad. Damn
One little thing I noticed, slight error not affecting any outcomes.
It was actually Lindemann that ordered to open fire on The Hood, saying that he will not have his ship blown out from under his ass or something like that.
The Admiral didn't want to open fire at all because of orders he received not to engage battleships.
Indeed! It was Bismarck who return fire to Hood first and only then Lütjens would order both ships to fire.
Just found this and sad there isnt a part 2. Hopefully in the future
THE TERROR OF THE SEAS
THE BISMARCK AND THE KRIEGSMARINE
We'll find the German battleship that's makin' such a fuss
We gotta sink the Bismarck cause the world depends on us
Hit the decks a-runnin' boys and spin those guns around
When we find the Bismarck we gotta cut her down
The Hood found the Bismarck on that fatal day
The Bismarck started firin' fifteen miles away
"We gotta sink the Bismarck" was the battle sound
But when the smoke had cleared away, the mighty Hood went down
For six long days and weary nights they tried to find her trail
Churchill told the people "put every ship a-sail
'Cause somewhere on that ocean I know she's gotta be
We gotta sink the Bismarck to the bottom of the sea"
THAT WAS VERY SAD, IN ONE WEEK 2 POWERFUL SHIPS SINK LOSING MORE THAN 3500 LIVES, LONG LIVE TO THE MIGHTY BISMARCK AND HOOD
*U-556:* Wow! She took out Hood? Lord Bismarck is awesome!
*U-556:* Why do I hear boss music?
Fun fact:
Germany was exempted from the Washington Naval Treaty because they were bounded by the Treaty of Versailles which strictly forbid Germany from building new capital ships.
Also, since the London Naval Treaty was signed in 1930, Germany was also exempted from that law. So once Hitler and the Nazis took power, they burned the Treaty of Versailles and began rearming the country in preparation for the next war.
Prince of Waves
ummm can u make part 2 pls.
love your content
This shall be included in history lessons.
*Using cute shipfus as the cast is possible for students (especially males and weebs alike) to remember than some grey old ships images...*
Классная задумка, но неудобно читать и сверху, и снизу, плюс иногда надписи пропадают слишком быстро. Но всё равно очень годно.
2 mins in this video at 12am lookin gud
my eyes..... are sweating again.....
and then i realized that this is just part one....
my eyes will be sweating a lot again....
battle of midway next? (after part two)

when's the second part?
also, if possible, make also chibi histories on the battles of the Coral Sea, Midway, the Eastern Solomons, Santa Cruz, the Philippine Sea, and Leyte Gulf
1:20
i have watched enough anime to know a death flag when i see one.
2:17 that’s how i called *Hội Đồng* in Vietnamese
Great video. Cute chibis and nice text speed.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't KMS Bismarck referred to as a 'her' with "Die Schlachtschiff Bismarck" and 'die' being used as a feminine version of 'der'?
I will wait here incase of discussion broke out here too
Das Schlachtschiff Bismarck
Die Bismarck
Das Schlachtschiff
In German ships are referred as female.
As mentionend at the beginning, it is said that the admiral/officers/crew referred to the Bismarck with a male pronoun to emphasis that it is so much more mighty than any other battle ship. At that time period a male was seen more stronger in general than a female etc., yadda yadda
part 4 plz
Please, do Midway battle!
Alright, historians: with the benefit of hindsight, would it have been a better idea for Hood and Prince of Wales to wait for the other ships before engaging? Or would they have run a massive risk of losing their chance forever?
6:02 her 15cm guns are in game you put in the guns of scharnhorst/deustchland
Part 2 plz
Ugh my kokoro
Damn imagine being chased by the entire british home fleet lmao
Damn it is too early to fucking feel...
Hey,i've seen this one before, wait its probably just my own experiences
