Two Interesting things about this episode to note: 1. The reclamation plant used for this episode at 6:05 was used numerous times on star trek TNG and most star trek shows as part of star fleet hq or starfleet academy, and also used for alien worlds a few times. 2. At 0:15 is a picture of David Hasselhoff with one of the martial arts actors. That actor was in the episode of knight Rider, Knight and Knerd. The actor was the Takishi warrior Michael defeated at the beginning of the episode when trying to stop him from robbing and killing a scientist.

From one Joe to another - thank you and the rest of the KR Historians for doing what you do to keep the memories of our beloved series alive. Looking forward to Voodoo Kight, though I know we were all hoping for a better send off for Michael and K.I.T.T.
One question I've had and I don't recall it ever being asked. If turning the steering wheel was difficult due to how wide it is, why didn't they realize it early on and shrink it somewhat so it wasn't as big?

This was the first episode I recorded with my then new Philips VHS VCR in 2003, and when the series started again rerunning, all other episodes as well. Watched couple of days ago that recording, still looks good (for VHS tape). It's been very fun way to watch the entire series with these commentary episodes, so big thank you for doing this :) I've watched usually before the episode myself, either from vhs or dvd, and then your commentary episode, so the episode is still fresh in mind. Now there's just the Voodoo Knight to watch, the last episode of Knight Rider :/ It always brings back memories how sad I was as a kid when the original run ended in the 80's, I was afraid I'd never see Knight Rider, KITT and Michael Knight again. Luckily I was wrong :)
Thank you for the vid, just found your channel, in my country they said Patricia hated the series and refused to show in the last episode. Thank you for clearing that for me.
11:20 mentioning about the steering wheel, looks like there's a gap between the wheel and the main console dash. 11:43 looks like some water splashed up through the hole for the scanner.
This is actually one of my favourites. I like the Ninjas aspect. I adore the fight scene with Mike and RC flooring the 'bear'. Here's something Im unsure of though. When Kitt comes to the rescue we see a view of the car obscured by the trees and plants as the car moves across our screen. In some martial arts films there would often be a video transition effect used that was a green swipe or wipe across the screen. I'm reminded of that when I see this part of the episode. I hope it was done on purpose to look like that transition wipe effect. The warehouse where the red jeep was parked- is that the same abandoned warehouse used in The Smell of Stevie? When Michael goes after Durant hiding up a scaffolding tower? It looks similar. We should be thanking you, not the other way around. Thank you for going the distance and not quitting when the going got tough (read that as when the episodes got tough to review).

The Japanese Gardens are part of the Tilman Wastewater Treatment Plant. The gardens are irrigated with reclaimed water which is readily available, of course. This building is also commonly used for Starfleet Academy in Star Trek.
It's funny that you mention that about the ninja with the red over his head, I have thought the same thing myself all these years. Great commentary as always. Loved RC's roll over kid and landing it, boy was very fit hahah. I remember back in the day ( 2004 ) on the SciFi message boards somebody pointed out that there was a comtron truck and 2 KITTs in the background. It may have even been you Joe!
@Knight Rider Historians Official It really would mess with mine Joe 🤣 Anyway, we all know Voodoo Knight is a mid season episode and Scent Of The Roses should have been last right? I know you already covered this 👍
Short but good video Joe. I hoped you would mention that after Knightrider, the Tilman plant would become the exterior for Starfleet Academy in Star Trek The Next Generation
Good call on the Knight Rider/Star Trek connection! But it wasn't Starfleet Headquarters. It's actually Starfleet Academy. And it was featured in The Next Generation and Voyager.
at 6:28, isn't that Star-Treks TNG, training academy, and the episode on the plant, where, public transport was running everywhere, and they nearly got rid or Wesley Crusher too 😞
I remember this episode well, had it recorded off television on VHS. (along with many other episodes) Havnt watched it for soooo many years though. But at 11.05, I totally agree with it being a cool looking shot, I always used to think so myself. It was one of those rare realistic perspectives where in motion it kinda gave the feeling of like you was actually sitting in the car. You mention that maybe the reason why they blind drove the hero car was because it was only going to be driven slowly a few feet... Well iv just recently watched your kitt vs karr video, and when John is walking along the beach road with karr slowly driving behind him, you said that was also the hero car, and you raised the same question of wondering why they chose that instead of the blind drive car, and I was almost going to respond on that video saying the same answer you've given here, of it was possibly because they knew it was only going to be driven slowly for a few feet behind John, so there was little risk of damage.
Great commentary, Joe, as always. Love the different shots of the hero car and getting to see the hardest working kit car in the fleet. I like it when you talk a little bit about the guest stars, as in what they were doing before or after knight rider that we may have also seen. Maybe none of these costars did any other notable things, but I always find that a little interesting. On that note, there will certainly be more meat on the bone in voodoo night… Lol
It's incredible that most of the cars used on the show ended up crashed and destroyed. A piece of history destroyed. how bad is that? thanks for your work. If i ever win the lottery, my first buy will be to get a Kitt, no matter the cost.
Bitter sweet.... One more commentary to go. Honestly - not sure what I'm going to do without these commentaries to add variety to my RUclips watching....
After Arden Villa was repainted canary yellow in the mid 1980s the Knight Rider crew could have gone back and filmed there by simply writing the repaint into the script. Michael could have asked Devin, "What's with the new paint job?" I think the reason they didn't go back had to do with saving money since they already had gotten more than enough stock footage of the exterior during the first two seasons of the show.
Really loved that series during original airings when I was 9 years old , , ,always wished they would have had a cross-over episode with the A-TEAM , , , ahh what could have been right ? , , 👽👍
Since you mentioned that season 4 of the show went out “with a whimper”, I felt obligated to say that was a real shame because I thought there was a decent amount of “good” episodes in season 4 including “killer KITT, The wrong crowd, and The scent of roses.” Also Knight sting”
Hey Joe, where they filmed the bad guys main headquarters in this next to last episode of Knight Rider in that Japanese garden area is later the very area that is used in the Star Trek The Next Generation, DS9, Voyager as Starfleet Headquarters. Also in case you're wondering Patricia shows up in a season one episode of TNG. The title of said episode is "Angel one".`

I’ve really enjoyed the commentaries and learned a lot from them. This was a short one as there isn’t really much going on in it. I did enjoy the interior shot of Michael driving and showing off the dash…. this is the same one I’m replicating in my KITT….. VooDoo Knight isn’t my favorite episode, but I’m looking forward to your commentary.
The reason a lot of people didn't notice the mistakes is cuz it was too expensive for us to get the big screen TVs and they are big and bulky these days they're quite flat and everything or you can get the projector that you don't even need a TV my viewer screen is a flat screen TV and I love Star Trek and Knight Rider I wish they were on neck and neck because they're both sci-fi but they put them on during the action shows and another good Sci-Fi action show was airwolf and I don't know people don't what I meant I don't see it too often mentioned but I hope you would mention this show that came on it was called nighthawk based off of of Knight Rider where the motorcycle was kind of robotic and it didn't last for very many seasons. Also a show that didn't last for a long and it was a spin-off from Knight Rider was called the 19th I think it was called Knight Rider team or something like that where people would ride around on motorcycles and it cars and helicopters and all kinds of vehicles going to different areas and fighting cry I enjoyed that show but it didn't stay on the air very long but night Rider stayed on for a lot of seasons and it was on through the '80s and '90s it was probably before that but it was very cool and we always best friends would say when we're watching the shows or watching the ideas of what the future is going to be like and it's really going to happen my friend said but I said yes because computers made a good advance through the technology of talking so I believe it could happen. These days anything's possible because we're in the future now. Thanks to things like Star Trek and 2001 Odyssey hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy and many more it was lots of fun to imagine but now we don't have to imagine it's real man just asked Domino's Pizza we'll see they got a car like the Knight Rider but it's the wrong color and it's the wrong kind of car but it does the exact same thing. They got several of them like that.

Both Jeep plates were prop plates. The 7-character plate is 9KFP788, but 7-character blue plates only ever started with 1; and the 6 character plate 187 DEC has narrow dies for the letters, but they didn't switch to narrow letters until the ### WLA series. 38 years later, CA plates are up into the 9Exx### so 9KFP788 will be given out in like the next year or two.
I hated this episode probably almost as much as Voo Doo Knight. At this point in the series it was almost as if NBC Universal wanted Knight Rider to die a slow and painful death. Really a shame that it had to go out the way it did.
Joe I have a question. When you were showing the cars used in the episode when you showed the hard top car making that stunt I've looked at it a lot over the years I think that is hasselhoff doing that stunt what do you think?
Be pretty cool to own the hardtop stunt car. Though I bet the restoration would be a pain. If I ever owned it, I'd probably botch the whole thing. Heck, I'd mess it up by putting the KARR scanner on it. Don't worry, I wouldn't dare two tone it. Have to be mostly correct.

Sorry to all the people that created night right but I like the the vibrations to be red not some lips not some square Dot that blinks when he talks that doesn't look very real when they started to do more episodes and change the inside look up kit of several times to fit the train or whatever he's going to do that Knight riders going to do with the car made it more real and every time they show it a beautiful woman I got so happy and tingly.
It’s sort of a bummer that there is only one more episode last to comment on. I’ve been subscribed since you did the commentary on The Topaz Connection…
@@KnightRiderHistoriansOfficial this was the comment I was waiting for. Knight Rider 2000 was part of the same Knight Rider original universe. Has to be included with the commentaries. I've watched every single one. Bring on Voodoo Knight
Padding, of course. 😎 But as for the choice of episode, I couldn't tell you. Maybe they were looking for a season 4 episode with a lot of action and hand-to-hand combat?
I know Micheal is a "Lone Crusader" but when he has RC3 helping out, I sure wish he would just be the copilot. Watching him drive around on that stupid motorcycle is aggravating for some reason.
I know they've tried to read make the Knight Rider series a few times and failed. If they ever started another night rider season. My opinion the only way of doing it would be go 100% nostalgia. Start off the first season as the fifth season based in the 1980s like they did for stranger things have everything true to the 1980s. Keep cat true to the original. Maybe you guys could even make some money off of by providing your original screen used cars for filming. Also get your tractor trailer ready lol. Santa's my idea get me hired on to the show. Because I am sort of unusual. Because I can build anything
I always thought those were push buttons to control Normal/Auto/Pursuit & Power on the season 3/4 dash like the season 1/2 dash but they are not! Does anybody know how they switched them? Removed bulbs or disconnected them maybe to get the desired look?

The 7-character plate is 9KFP788, but 7-character blue plates only ever started with 1; and the 6 character plate 187 DEC has narrow dies for the letters, but they didn't switch to narrow letters until the ### WLA series. 38 years later, CA plates are up into the 9Exx### so 9KFP788 will be given out in like the next year or two.
I hated this episode probably almost as much as Voo Doo Knight. At this point in the series it was almost as if NBC Universal wanted Knight Rider to die a slow and painful death. Really a shame that it had to go out the way it did.
The Scent of Roses is intended as the series finale so best to consider that the last episode. Silly network airing episodes out of order. 😆
both paint schemes of Flag headquarters of course I like lighter colors and I have stuck around for all 83 episodes looing forward to last shoe Dan .
Kitt,s scanner should always be on yes
Thank you for the Knight Rider commentary series. Are we expecting a series of videos showing Knight Rider's movie mistakes?
Goodbye K.I.T.T. Goodbye K.A.R.R and goodbye Michael and Bonnie. ;-; They live on in GTA mods and an official KR game for PS2 and PC.
Joe I have a question. When you were showing the cars used in the episode when you showed the hard top car making that stunt I've looked at it a lot over the years I think that is hasselhoff doing that stunt what do you think?
s4e10 Knight behind Bars on German Tv atm. i wish they would have had shoot more then just 4 seasons of it back than.
i wonderd why bonnie did not appear on the final episode, thanks for the news
So how many miles were on the cars when you got them?
2200 and 600
@@KnightRiderHistoriansOfficial thanks! 2200 is way more than I expected
(No, I don't own it, if anyone misreads my comments. There's no way I could afford to restore it, much less buy it. Just a pipe dream to me.)
Thanks for all
Sorry to all the people that created night right but I like the the vibrations to be red not some lips not some square Dot that blinks when he talks that doesn't look very real when they started to do more episodes and change the inside look up kit of several times to fit the train or whatever he's going to do that Knight riders going to do with the car made it more real and every time they show it a beautiful woman I got so happy and tingly.
The 1996 Movie "BioDome" was also shot at the "Tanika" site.
Kitt’s scanner was on top of the ninjas forehead
Bonnie came back to thr foundation offscreen
I saw the GMA segment of your Knight Rider car with David Hasselhoff.
It’s sort of a bummer that there is only one more episode last to comment on. I’ve been subscribed since you did the commentary on The Topaz Connection…
Fantastic! I'm sure we will do KR2000 and then who knows
I think I myself had been subscribed likely before the first video, the pilot episode for knight rider.
@@KnightRiderHistoriansOfficial this was the comment I was waiting for. Knight Rider 2000 was part of the same Knight Rider original universe. Has to be included with the commentaries. I've watched every single one. Bring on Voodoo Knight
We all like kitt car i wonder what happened to the original kitt car from the first episode of kr
I REMEMBER this episode I was in the 6th grade.😁😁
This was a free episode added to the season 3 DVD set for some reason.
Padding, of course. 😎 But as for the choice of episode, I couldn't tell you. Maybe they were looking for a season 4 episode with a lot of action and hand-to-hand combat?
8:12 Driver side mirror angled down to not show the driver.
There is one minor thing I like about voodoo knight. But I'll say it for that video.
I think if Hasselhoff was one of the executive producers like he was in Baywatch, KR would've last little longer.
I know Micheal is a "Lone Crusader" but when he has RC3 helping out, I sure wish he would just be the copilot. Watching him drive around on that stupid motorcycle is aggravating for some reason.
I prefer the Knight Rider brown to be honest 9:59
I know they've tried to read make the Knight Rider series a few times and failed. If they ever started another night rider season. My opinion the only way of doing it would be go 100% nostalgia. Start off the first season as the fifth season based in the 1980s like they did for stranger things have everything true to the 1980s. Keep cat true to the original. Maybe you guys could even make some money off of by providing your original screen used cars for filming. Also get your tractor trailer ready lol. Santa's my idea get me hired on to the show. Because I am sort of unusual. Because I can build anything
With all due respects, another BRIEF one again, thanks for sharing
I always thought those were push buttons to control Normal/Auto/Pursuit & Power on the season 3/4 dash like the season 1/2 dash but they are not! Does anybody know how they switched them? Removed bulbs or disconnected them maybe to get the desired look?
They look very similar to the buttons on the first Yamaha DX7 synth. They are basically flush with the surface but they are switches
@@homeone4054 I dont think they switch at all
I cherish my KITT/KARR toys
