I had always wondered what the real reason why Knight Rider was cancelled, and thanks to you, now I know. I remember being sad and disappointed as a kid when I learned that Knight Rider was cancelled. I was 4 years old at the time. I am the same age as Knight Rider so I didn't see it when it first aired but I did. start watching it when I was 3 years old and I absolutely fell in love with the show and KITT. Even at 3 or 4 years old, I remember sitting through the entire episodes and even sitting through the commercials which I hated, but I didn't want to miss any of the show. That love for the show still resonates with me. I hope one day I can see a KITT car which I've never seen in person before, not even a replica. I still hope to see one some day. As for your videos, I've thoroughly enjoyed them especially these episode commentaries. I've learned a lot about the episodes, behind the scenes and the cars used in the show which is what interested me the most. All the other stuff interested me too. Thank you Knight Rider Historians for preserving the history and legacy of the show. You guys Rock! And I'm not just saying that. Knight Rider may have been over for decades now, but Knight Rider lives on through you guys. Keep doing what you guys are doing.
Two years. Just great. This was like watching and investigating the show. Amazing. That KITT with a temporary stock bumper, the miniatures, all the stunts, the train derailment, that manual car, the 352 Pacemaker, jump acrillic window car, high traction drop down...and many other cool stuff. Thank very much, Joe, for all the work you did. Honestly, by far, the best Knight Rider History, the real Knight Rider History. This was truly "The world...of the Knight Rider".
4:02 - I have read Hasselhoffs "Making waves" a few months ago and he says he was informed in November 1985 that KR won't be returning for 1986-87 season. So apparently he knew before filming. On the other hand, he also said that season IV was "refreshed" with Super Pursuit Mode and hiring of Peter Parros, so it would be strange to make the cancelling decision in Nov 1985 before seeing the ratings of season IV, which was not filmed yet...
Thanks for all these great commentaries! Cool to see David's dad too! Yeah 1986 was the end of the "car chase era" / big action shows since they pretty much all died that year. Only A-team managed one more year. Magnum PI went longer but it never was a big stunt show. Poor Street Hawk hit the ground running in 1985 with a bang but was late to the game so never had a chance. Big-time car chases would regain popularity in 1998 in cinema, but the stunt filled TV shows seem to forever be gone :(
Though those times are long past, we should be thankful to have lived when massive movie caliber stunts were broadcast to our homes on a weekly basis :)
This is truly a sad day. The commentary has concluded and Netflix removed knight rider from its programming again. Thank you for doing these, Joe, I certainly learned a lot and have a deeper appreciation for the show.
2 years ago when you said you would do commentaries on EVERY episode, I thought there's no way we're that lucky. Happily you proved me wrong! Thank you for doing these, Joe. I've loved every one, even Voodoo Knight!
Great job, Joe. I have vivid memories of being 5 years old, tuning in to my local NBC affiliate, KSDK, Friday April 11th at 8, expecting to spend a fun hour with all my FLAG friends. Instead, I was horrified to find that, instead of seeing Knight Rider air in its usual spot, the station was airing the A Team instead. I was heartbroken. My parents shrugged it off, saying “well, they must have canceled Knight Rider.” I remember calling the station first thing Monday morning and speaking to a station employee, asking through tears why they cancelled Knight Rider. I don’t remember her reply, other than she surely must have been bewildered by a young boy’s sorrowful plea to bring the show back. The sting never quite went away. Such a shame that the show went out with a whimper, but it’s nice to have your being here, continuing to tell the stories and to keep the door open for commentaries of the several successor series. … all that said, please skip Knight Rider 2010.
A few years back, my wife and I watched the entire series and I purposely skipped "The Scent of the Roses" and she noticed it. When she asked I told her "Wait for 'Voo Doo Knight' and you'll see. When we watched it and I told her that was the seres finale, she was in awe. Then we watched "The Scent of the Roses" and she said 'Now THAT'S how you end a series, "Voo Doo Knight!" '. Very nice episode and a great run. You guys did a terrific job here. I really loved these episodes and I'm kinda gonna miss them.
You can understand how much you like Knight Rider when you're able to watch the series with this knowledge but without ruining the enjoyment of the episode itself
Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication by bringing Knight Rider Historians to life. For showing all of us behind the scenes of one of our favorite 80's smash hit show that gave us all joy when we were all kids. You just prove that one man, one team, one fan base, can really make a difference. Thank you.
We all should thank you for all of the series commentaries. No matter of what your intention will be on making the same in the rest of related KR stuff, movies or TV series, IMHO nothing's gonna be like the original. Thanks again Joe. You and all KR historians.
“Crossing Jordan” is another Tim Kring series. And I think that was Alan Graf in “Over the Top”, saying to Stallone, “Get this thing the hell out of here before I call the Police”. I learned so much about all the types of cars used because of these commentaries.
I actually started rewatching Team Knight Rider on Vudu. It actually is a lot better than I remembered -- it just ended up being Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. with talking cars instead of a continuation of the original series. The action sequences were a lot more elaborate than I remember -- that's where all the budget went. The stunts are much better than 99% of shows made today with terrible CGI for special effects.
I am proud to say that I have watched every single episode commentary! Great job and I appreciate all your hard work and dedication to the Knight Rider fan base! I started watching this show back in 1982 in front of a black and white television my parents living room. I was fortunate to watch the pilot and every episode that followed until it's cancellation in 1986. When the show was in syndication on the USA network, I recorded every episode on VHS tape which I still have to this day. Of course I have this entire series on DVD. I am so thankful for RUclips as it has enabled content to still be created about the show. Please continue the content and I would love to see Team Knight Rider and the reboot in 2008 of Knight Rider. I would love to hear your thoughts and commentary on both those series.
Thanks for all these fantastic commentaries Joe. Really going to miss them after 2 years of keeping me hooked on all the details of the show episode by episode! 1986 was the end of Knight Rider and The A Team in 1987 - the golden era of fun TV came to an end. Nothing to match it since.
@@andrewyork5620 i would put money on some of the Trucks and trailers etc been used again in the A team. Maybe the very 1st semi truck met its fate in the A Team.
Thanks for all the work on these commentaries. I have started re-watching Kinght Rider. I still always thought had a V-8 motor for normal use then a Turbine for Prusuit mode. I also noticed that Michael would leave Kitt in Drive when he gets out then Kitt would start up in gear then shift to park to go in reverse. Can't wait till it warms up and see some more work on the Semi.
THANK YOU Joe for doing such an upstanding job covering all this. It's been a joy finding out even more about the behind the scenes to this fab 80's classic. Wishing you and everyone else a free, peaceful, sane, healthy and HAPPY Xmas and New Year.
Thanks for covering all the episodes! It may be sad that the show got canceled, but I'm glad we got 4 seasons and loads of cool content! Thanks for being my comfort show, Knight Rider
Oh yes. This episode...what a shame and you did your best to get something for us. However - I must tell you this: it is not common to find an intelligent, clever, witty and funny stuff like your KR Episode Commentaries. Great research work at every aspect! And yes, you are right about those hidden treats like white wire and many others... If I may add one personal thing - I became a devoted KR fan in the times of socialist Czechoslovakia - so no "western culture" for us. But we were able to watch Austrian TV and there I was glued to the screen, with only scraps of German language, a mother of two children. Crazy or not - it was great. And still is, still is. Thank you very much, Merry Christmas and hopefully - see you soon.
Thank you for all your hard work and research in bringing us each and every episode commentary. Take a well-deserved break. Put your feet up on the dash, and turn on auto-cruise. I think that commentaries for Knight Rider 2000, TKR, and Knight Rider 2008 would be great to see in the future!
Bail Out AKA W.B. (White Bread), Blue, and the Bean is so awesome. I remember renting it at our local video store several times as a kid. Saw it again on Amazon Prime recently. PLEASE do 2000 and 2008! Although I have watched TKR, I never really took to it.
End of an era. I watched each episode just prior to watching each episode commentary, and by season 2 and a half, I could start noticing reused footage, and I could tell some of the cars apart... thanks for all the work.
Every Airwolf in Cockpit Headshot was just Stringfellow Hawk squinting his eyes open and shut! I bet they shot a few different eye movements once and used them for the entire run! 😂
Thanks for the great job on these amazingly informative and engaging commentaries, I saw all of them. I wore my Semi Restoration t-shirt especially in honor of this last episode.
@KnightRiderHistoriansOfficial Joe, thanks for these commentaries. I definitely would like to see commentaries for KR2000 and KR from 2008 eventually. I could never get into TKR when it was on, and KR2010 of the "Action Pack" just wasn't KR, I only remember them airing 2 of those movies (I swear there were two, but looking it up now they only list the one), and it was few and far between compared to the "Bandit" movies, the "Hercules" movies, and the other movies they aired. 15:20 - I noticed years back watching this episode the fog lights on the hero car looked to be covered over. I'm not sure, but was it covers, mud, or overspray of a tan or brown primer?
It was one hell of a roller coaster ride. Learned a lot of things regarding the KITT cars, white wire and all. Those specific details i am... and i will add to my 1/24 model KITT's. Thanks Joe.
Thanks very much in doing the commentaries, funny thing is half of season one is 40 years old now! I have been watching Knight rider again, the last few days, you could tell how things really changed from then to season 3,
Joe, I’m blessing and cursing you simultaneously right now😂the FanHome 1:8-scale model is fantastic, sections 1&2 arrived Wednesday and have constructed both. The cursing bit comes from having to wait for the next section to arrive, lol….thanks for all that yourself&A.J. do to keep the memories alive.
Let's not forget about the ever recurring Gremlin, the Thing, DeVon's Mercedes, so many fun memories we've had. Thanks Joe, it's been a ride. Ok pal, let's turbo boost!!
Merry Christmas to my family yours thank you for all the night Rider stuff 51 years old and I grew up with it still have my night rider so thank you can't wait to see you the flagship ready to rock
Great work on the series, KR was one of my favorite shows in 80s as a kid, sad to see it go when it was canceled back then but being 2022, Dec I still have great memories of the show and what better than E Mulhare saying the final line of the series. Thank you to all.
I have been enjoying these commentaries a lot. I watched Knight Rider when it started airing in Finland in 1984, I was 6. I haven't watched it since and it have been really fun to go through the episodes with you. I really hope that you will continue there commentaries since I only recently ever noticed that there is more than this series. Also all your other content is very entertaining.
It's been an amazing ride watching all these commentary videos. Jam packed with fun facts so many of us have never heard of. Thank you for the ride Joe. If this was an uber you'd get 5 stars for all the work you put into something you're genuinely passionate about.
Thank you so much for this series, Joe. I enjoyed every second of it and it won't be the last time I've watched them. Too bad only one thumb up is possible.
Hello!!! Here in Spain the last episode originally broadcast (1987) was "Knight of the rising sun". "Voo Doo Knight" aired in seventh place! A great job you have done and I encourage you to "break down" the other productions of the Knight Rider Universe. Happy Holidays!
amazing commentary series, thank you so much! I made an analysis of all the fails in the series. With my new knowledge thanks to you its absolute outdated. Thanks so much from germany
Thank you so much Joe for all your hard work on this series. I rewatched the entire series and iterated the episodes with your commentaries and it was a blast!
Have to say, this commentary was more enjoyable to watch than the actual episode. Thank you for 2 years of entertaining commentary. Looking forward to future KRH content.
Great job joe on all of your commentaries. The details you provided were amazing. I particularly liked the location info, then and now. Keep up the good work particularly on the semi restoration. I’m looking forward to seeing it finished.
Thank you so much Joe for being persistent and doing the commentaries for all episodes. Looking forward to seeing the progress on the Semi tractor & trailor and the stage dash (hopefully also season 1/2). I'm all for an episode commentary of Knight Rider 2000 and some background as to how Team Knight Rider came about.
No White-Wire-Alert anymore. 😞 Too bad. No, thank goodness. :-) Thank you so much for what you've done to every Knight Rider Fan. I've really learned so much about the show, the backgrounds and many many more details. Sometimes it has been quite a challenge for me listening to you because you don't speak german, but this was also fun and a good practice for me. Just like watchig the show in it's original language. Well, the commentaries are over, now it's your book which will open every single Knight Rider episode for me. So I will read the book first, then I will start the episode. I've just recieved the 40th Anniversary Edition by Turbine Medien GmbH that is on release here in Germany ( limited to 3939 pieces and for 199 € by the way ) with a total weight of five pounds. That's why I will order some of your t-shirts to support your Semi-Project in the next year because I've already spent too much for Knight Rider. I'm sure your work will give me a much better view again in every car, every stunt, every actor and every location. Last but not least - I wish you and your family a merry christmas ( Frohe Weihnachten 🎄) and a happy new year. Best wishes Harald from Hamburg / Germany
Thank you so much for these commentaries Joe, I’ve learnt so much more about the show from watching these and it just makes me love Knight Rider even more now. Well done good sir and I hope you and you’re family have a wonderful and relaxing Christmas 👍🙂
Thanks for doing all these episode commentaries. I looked forward to each one even if I didn't like a certain episode, it was still interesting to find out what made them tick, and the behind the scenes look at each episode.
Thank you Joe for this great commentary work. Now, and thanks to you, I know somethings about Knight Rider filming 😎 Thank you and happy year's finally holidays 🌷❤️.
Your episodes commentary made my lockdown time much more interesting. Thank you for the great and hard work, happy to see the future adventures on your channel! Greetings from Poland.
Hello to Joe and AJ...thank you for all your investigation , Info and facto about All each episodes...now i Hold the german blue Ray Edition Witz all knight rider episodes in my hands...the Turbine Company put some nice props in the Box like Michael knights license and Kitts registration card....the blue Ray Is an improvement upon the HD Episodes. Now i am able to compare the different Kitt cars along your Information....greetings from Western Germany...i saw all episodes in 1989 as a 13 years old boy
Great Job covering this beloved series!! Knight Rider Historians need to cover the TV Knight Rider 2000 movie, then Team Knight Rider, then the 2008-09 series.
Oh, and it's tragic that "A knight in shining armor" is the least viewed video. Good episode, and one of the better bloopers from the reel comes from that episode.
"One man can make a difference..." ...and you and the team have. Thank you for doing this Joe. These have been great to watch and a nice distraction from other things in life. Cheers! ^_^
Thank you so much for doing these commentaries, I have really enjoyed them. For me the when ever I see Henry Gibson I think of Blues Brothers but the burbs would be a close second.
15:58 is funny, someone typed this basic program in, and instead of the program running (RUN), it shows the listing of the program (LIST) ;) Either a mistake, or they thought it looks more cool with the "computer gibberish" of the line numbers and print command ;)
Lawyer: Doctor Stone, what's your impression of Mr. Stryker? Doctor Stone (Vernon): I don't do impressions. I'm a doctor. One of the best lines with best deadpan delivery, ever.
Thanks for all the interesting facts. Biggest Surprise for me was the guy hiding in either seat driving. As a kid I thought it was from Remote. Don't ask me why.. 😂🤣
Devon's glasses look like the ones worn by April. That would've been another interesting Easter egg too if they were.... although it's almost Christmas now 🤔

Unfortunately I think you are correct
I think you're right also. That's too bad tho.

I think the A Team was very lucky to last another year, due to how bad things started to go, with the cast and ratings.

Glad you enjoyed it!
It has been a wonderful journey Joe. Thank you for all the episode commentaries
Boy im sad to see this series end...great job on finishing every one!

What a whimper to go out on. I do love this show, but yeesh! I gotta go back and watch all the others, now.
Great job!!!! I had to go back and start at the pilot and catch up but it was well worth it. Merry Christmas to all my Knight Rider family!
Thank you for your amazing commentary series, Joe! Sad that's over. Ton of interesting facts and details. I'll definitely rewatch them again.

Thank you Joe!
Great job, thanks you and merry christmas. You did a life's work in 2 years. Take a good vacation and enjoy it. Many greetings from Austria.

I think Michaels comlink is also destroyed in Goliath when kitt is rammed by Goliath. Love this channel Joe keep it up
excellent commentary thank you joe
Thank you so much Joe for being persistent and doing the commentaries for all episodes. Looking forward to seeing the progress on the Semi tractor & trailor and the stage dash (hopefully also season 1/2).
I'm all for an episode commentary of Knight Rider 2000 and some background as to how Team Knight Rider came about.
"Voodoo Knight" is the only Knight Rider episode I've only ever watched once.
Thanks for these videos loved them learned a lot
Best wishes
Harald from Hamburg / Germany
Thank you Joe
Thank you so much for these commentaries Joe, I’ve learnt so much more about the show from watching these and it just makes me love Knight Rider even more now. Well done good sir and I hope you and you’re family have a wonderful and relaxing Christmas 👍🙂
Thanks for doing all these episode commentaries. I looked forward to each one even if I didn't like a certain episode, it was still interesting to find out what made them tick, and the behind the scenes look at each episode.
That staircase set looks like it's straight out of Murder She Wrote! 😂
Thank you Joe for this great commentary work.
Now, and thanks to you, I know somethings about Knight Rider filming 😎
Thank you and happy year's finally holidays 🌷❤️.
Thank you SO much for these. You've rejuvenated my love of the show.
Your episodes commentary made my lockdown time much more interesting. Thank you for the great and hard work, happy to see the future adventures on your channel! Greetings from Poland.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Added...i watch all episodes with englisch voices...After 10 years i cant prefer the german voices anymore
Thank you for 2 years of doing commentary I really learned a lot about each episode Take you a long rest 🙂🙂
"One man can make a difference..."
...and you and the team have.
Thank you Joe. Every week I look forward to seeing a new video. This got me through the pandemic and I'm going to continue to watch your videos!
Watching the show now is more fun, because I look for all the little details.
Love your work guys
Whenever I see Henry Gibson I think Blues Brothers. When I see John Vernon I think Animal House.
I always remember him from Laugh-In
Lawyer: Doctor Stone, what's your impression of Mr. Stryker?
Doctor Stone (Vernon): I don't do impressions. I'm a doctor.
One of the best lines with best deadpan delivery, ever.
@@LatitudeSky I'm a Doctor not an impressionist🤣
Same here!! 😂😂
Me too!
Thanks for all the interesting facts. Biggest Surprise for me was the guy hiding in either seat driving. As a kid I thought it was from Remote. Don't ask me why.. 😂🤣
Great job, and thank you for all your hard work!!
Devon's glasses look like the ones worn by April. That would've been another interesting Easter egg too if they were.... although it's almost Christmas now 🤔
