Found the Old School School Hip Hop genre around the age 13, I'm 17 now and I've never looked back this is my calling and I'm glad my curiosity brought me here.
Always loved this jam .. happy I found it on RUclips I remember this song was so under rated cuz by this time Wu-Tang , Biggie, BlackMoon , Nas was bringing a more raw sound at the time....this is still one of my favorite Black Sheep songs tho.....
You mean gangsta shit lol. Around this time the more progressive artists were getting silenced in the favour of pretty dark nihilistic shit. Consequently I think that sowed the seeds in hip hop for where we are now.
LOUNGE RAP new york rap vibe has always sounded consistent to me over the years, it just seemed there was always another variant going on elsewhere at different moments on the timeline - from miami to los angeles to cleveland to memphis to new orleans to st louis to houston to atlanta to chicago. I think of this era as New York’s Lounge Era of Rap,
@nmarcus7233 I partly agree with you, but I think the reason the song didn't do as well is because it wasn't as musically intriguing as it could've been. If you think of The Choice, it had that bass line that grabbed you the second the record came on. There's nothing in this song that just grabs you and pulls you song whether you want to go or not. So, it could have completed better...even alongside the likes of everything else at the time. Production just wasn't there.
Nah !!! Their first Album was Crazy. They dropped the ball by changing their style on the second album. Don't get me wrong, it was okay but their first was the best and I am still a big fan of Black Sheep.
elroy facey true indeed fam,I graduated from high school that year, all banging debut albums that year from Nas,Method Man,Jeru tha Damaja,Outkast.Notorious B.I.G.,Warren G.,Casual,Gravediggaz,etc.,people should really Google Hip Hop albums of 1994, and just see how many classic lps came out all in one year,a truly phenomenal year for rap and music of any genre
The first Black Sheep album was amazing front to back - such good samples and memorable tracks. I got Non Fiction as soon as it came out and did my best to try and get into it over the next several months, but it just did not hit at all like Wolf In Sheep's Clothing. Never listened to the album again after those first few months, but I still bump the first album all the time.
I love this honest feedback. I was 19 when this song came out. I thought it was cool, but it didn't inspire me to want to hear the second album. Reading the comments on any old school rap song is a love fest. People act like the 90s could do no wrong. Honestly, there were mid and bad songs back then too. And this song happens to be one of them.
yep 93 was my senior year in high school I used to rock the baggy jeans with the rugby polos, v neck sweaters, champion sweatshirts, air maxI. etc etc... life was fun this song makes me feel transported in time 🎶 🎤
Dope to see Mista Lawnge and Dres equally trading bars on this track! Definitely agree with what many have already said….Black Sheep was highly underrated!! Flavor of the Month is still my favorite track from them after all of these years!
Yoooo!!! I was thinking that Shit yesterday b!!! I had no idea Black Sheep dropped an album in 07', and I was like, "you know, dres got a lil Treach flow or vice versa'...

I've never heard it, but it's crazy that Black Sheep was red hot with A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing, then nobody cared about the follow-up just three years later.
@@rcole718 Because they changed their Rap Style. A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing was a little more in your Face type of Album, their Second was more Radio Friendly.
Black Sheep was so underrated.

Without a doubt.
I really miss the 90's music. The vibe was unmatchable compared to the music of today.
Skateboarding getting stoned listening to this track back then.... good times!

This song never gets old.
MC’n a lost art! There are a whole lot of rapper’s in this generation, BUT VERY FEW MASTERS OF CEREMONIES!! Hip-Hop lives forever to us who know!
This is golden. My head just can't help banging with a broad smile.
Luv that isley brother sample in the chorus. This song is made chill. Never heard it before.
Dres has superior rhyme and articulation skills. SMH. super underrated.
Good stuff miss these guys back then in their prime....nothing was better than 90's hip hop.
Love the Isley Brothers sample !!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 this was always one of my favorite tracks!
